WHEN THE FLIP-FLOP FLIPS AGAIN | Weekly Horoscope | November 11th – November 17th 2024

What's on is off – and what was off is back on again – when the Sun opposes Uranus on November 16th. You'll see recent reversals reversed, done deals revisited, and final judgments overturned – all in an attempt to get things “right.” A lot has changed since April 20th, when Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, conjoined Jupiter in Taurus, sending shockwaves through everyone's horoscopes. You, like everyone else, were thrown off balance by the upsets but took them in stride and eventually made peace with them. Now, all of this will be subject to change yet again, and you don't know if you're up for it. This is a good time to remember that there's always a greater design at work when Uranus is involved. As Albert Einstein once said: “God does not play dice with the Universe.” Admittedly, that's something you're going to have to take on faith given all the craziness, but there really is logic in the absurdity if you search for it.

MARS IN LEO | Weekly Horoscope | November 4th – November 10th 2024

Mars enters the zodiac sign of Leo on November 3rd. You will experience this as a surge in fiery energy. The peak point of this transit will be on November 27th, when Mars in Leo forms a trine to the Sun in Sagittarius. Translation? From November 3rd until November 27th, you will feel like you can get what you want without having to push, shove, or elbow people out of the way. That's because the Sun is racing to catch up to Mars, and since the Sun rules Mars in Leo, it feels no compunction about exercising the divine right of kings. However, after the Sun/Mars trine on November 27th, you will begin to experience a sharp dip in energy. That's because Mars is slowing down, eventually coming to a complete halt on December 6th. This is when the planet of gumption and drive turns retrograde and travels back over the patch of sky it just traversed. This is why you will want to complete any Herculean tasks, score that big win, or plant the flag by November 27th—because afterwards, you just won't have the advantage, the momentum, or the element of surprise.

IN A WORLD OF PURE IMAGINATION | Weekly Horoscope | October 28th – November 3rd 2024

On October 28th, Mars will form its last trine to Neptune in Pisces in our lifetimes. This is a potentially creative time as you will have full access to your imagination. Neptune is the planet of dreams and visions in astrology, and when it forms a trine to the planet of gumption and drive, you will pursue whatever you see in your mind’s eye to perfection. If harnessed correctly, you will achieve your life’s dream because you believe in what you see and refuse to settle for second best. This makes it a productive period, as you will truly apply yourself. If you don’t harness the energies correctly, however, you could find yourself off in pursuit of a fool’s errand—tilting at windmills and taking swings at jabberwockies.

JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED | Weekly Horoscope | October 21st – October 27th 2024

Libra is a law-abiding sign, and the Sun here shows that a rule or law will be strictly enforced. This is good if you're on the right side of it; not so good if you're the one who's challenging or even ignoring it. Everyone knows that laws – like facts and stats – can be manipulated to serve a less-than-ideal purpose, and the Sun's square to Pluto on October 22nd points to such a possibility. However, you have no choice but to move through the system if you want to make your case, appeal, or have your day in court. Justice doesn't always go hand in hand with the law, but it can be summoned if you press for it hard enough. Don't give up if you're in the right because Pluto, named after the Judge of the Dead, has a long memory and the reach to match it. It's something you'll see for yourself when Pluto re-enters Aquarius on November 19th.

ATONEMENT | Weekly Horoscope | October 14th – October 20th 2024

Your sincere and heartfelt admission that you did wrong may not make things right, but it will go a long way towards mending a broken trust. The Venus/Neptune trine on October 15th, followed by its last sextile to Pluto at the 29th degree of Capricorn on October 17th, says that this isn't the time to hold back or to hold out. If you truly want a second chance, then you need to be bold and ask for it. There's no guarantee that you will get what you want, but the fact that you are willing to open yourself up to rejection speaks more about your recent emotional growth than any amount of promises to do better in the future. Perhaps the reason why forgiveness remains one of the tallest orders of the Universe is because it requires such human vulnerability and humility—from both the person asking for it and the one granting it. This is what makes forgiveness the rarest miracle of all.

JUPITER RETROGRADE | Weekly Horoscope | October 7th – October 13th 2024

Jupiter, the planet of good fortune and higher purpose, turns retrograde on October 9th. Like Saturn, Jupiter is a planet of tests. But instead of withholding things from you, Jupiter usually piles on the good stuff – like a budding romance, an uptick in finances, or a bushel of golden opportunities – before pulling the plug. Retrogrades signal a planet's about-face. The planet changes direction and either undoes all the good work it's done or shows us a side of itself that doesn't jibe with what we saw before. It's understandable that you might feel duped and even angry, but there is a higher purpose to Jupiter's backward motion, and that's for you to grow. We don't grow if things come easy. That's why prosperity makes us forgetful. We only grow if we're inspired to. Now you're free to go back the way you came. There's nothing saying you can't stay inside your comfort zone, but if you're willing to take a running leap of faith, you might like where you land on February 4th.

SOLAR ECLIPSE IN LIBRA | Weekly Horoscope | September 30th – October 6th 2024

You're bound to be thrown off balance between your ME and your WE when there's a Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 2nd. If there's too much ME in your life, then that means you've shut people out. You're convinced that only you can fix a problem and that everyone must do things your way or be sidelined. This isn't good because Libra is a zodiac sign that values others' input – even if they're people you don't agree with. You need to open your heart and your mind or risk running things into the ditch. And if there's too much WE? You may be so invested in trying to do right by people that you risk not doing right by yourself. Decisions are risky business – as any Libra knows – however, not making a decision is worse. The French Existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre once said, “ne pas choisir, c'est encore choisir,” which means “not choosing is still a choice.” Don’t get so caught up in not wanting to disappoint or hurt someone that you make matters worse by keeping them hanging. All decisions have consequences, including the ones we dodge. Put yourself back behind the wheel and you'll know at least one person who knows where they're going – you.

FATAL ATTRACTION | Weekly Horoscope | September 23rd – September 29th 2024

Venus in Scorpio is a film noir Venus – dark, nefarious, and saddled with a mysterious past. It's important to remember that Venus rules over the power of attraction in astrology; it describes the kind of energy that you draw into your life. Subsequently, Venus here means that you will be attracting people who are going through some kind of crisis, are on the run from something they can't face, or are under the thumb of some kind of malevolent figure. There's a fated quality to these kinds of encounters. If you're already in a relationship, then this is the time when confessions are made, secrets are divulged, or hidden matters come to the surface. Thankfully, Venus in this Pluto-ruled sign means you will be willing and able to make the descent down into the Underworld alongside your loved one. The experience will be cathartic and transformative. It will also be the sort of thing you won't want to repeat anytime soon. Venus will be in Scorpio from September 22nd – October 17th.

LUNAR ECLIPSE IN PISCES | Weekly Horoscope | September 16th – September 22nd 2024

It will feel like your world is unraveling this week, thanks to the lunar eclipse in Pisces on September 17th. Things tend to fall apart when the Full Moon disappears from the nighttime sky, and the fact that it's taking place in Pisces – the last sign of the zodiac – makes it seem all the more apocalyptic. But there's a very simple rule of thumb with Lunar Eclipses, and it's this: anything that’s weak or standing on iffy ground will surely collapse. This pertains to relationships and careers as much as it does to health matters and mental states. You may think it was solid, but it wasn't. Now the key to surviving this occultation is to get Zen about it because whatever's passing out of your life actually left a long time ago. This could be worrisome or liberating depending on your state of mind and how honest you're being with yourself. Whatever the outcome, you need to know that the purpose of the lunar eclipse is to clear away the deadwood in order to make room for new growth.

NICE PROBLEMS ARE STILL PROBLEMS | Weekly Horoscope | September 9th – September 15th 2024

Every square brings a challenge, and the Sun/Jupiter square on September 12th is no different. This conflict in planetary energies is often portrayed as gushing Pollyannaism, an inflated sense of self-importance, or even hubris, but your problem will be simpler than that – too much of a good thing. Now, people will say that there’s no such thing, but there is. Jupiter is as much a planet of tests as its counterpart, Saturn. Indeed, these planets are two sides of the same coin. Saturn withholds, Jupiter bestows, and when the planet of good fortune forms a square to the Sun, it goes overboard. It’s not the flood of opportunities that will be the problem; it will be keeping up with them. Now, you can run yourself into the ground chasing after the next golden apple, or you can try to regain control of the wheel – which means slowing down or even putting some things on hold. Good fortune is not as fleeting as you fear, which is why it’s important to pace yourself and to prioritize. This is how you transform a lucky break into something long-lasting and sustainable while delivering on all those promises you made.

Thanks to Sun sign horoscope columns, Zodiac Signs are the first thing most people think of when they hear the word “astrology.”

And, if you’ve studied astrology for yourself, you’ll know that Zodiac signs modify the expressions of a planet located in the sign, much like a colored filter modifies the color of light that shines through it. Signs intensify – or muddle – a planet’s vibe. But, what exactly are Zodiac signs? Where did they come from, and why do astrologers care about them? Learn more here!
