SCORPIO HOROSCOPE

On July 7th, Uranus, the helter skelter planet, leaves the zodiac sign of Taurus. The past seven years haven't been easy as you've seen several relationships capsize like a modern day version of the 1970s film The Poseidon Adventure. Who knew that what started out as luxury cruise would wind up with you scrambling up an upside down Christmas tree in evening wear? Nevertheless you've survived the hard times and even have new friends to show for it. They may not have the familiarity of the old ones, but they also herald a time when you're moving closer to living the life you've always wanted.

Scarlett O'Hara once said “tomorrow is another day” and that might not be the worst mantra for you nowadays. Uranus's approaching change of signs is surely sending seismic tremors through your horoscope, but there's something to be said for the trials and tribulations you've endured recently. You don't abandon hope as easily as you used to and more importantly you've learned to adopt a wait and see attitude. Steely focus is something you've often feigned but never truly believed in before now so that being open to what tomorrow might bring is less a Pollyannaish aphorism and more about seizing an opportunity when it appears.

You always want to check the fine print when Mercury is opposite Pluto (June 29th). Maybe it's an annoying technicality, a “harmless” condition slipped into a contract last minute, or a discrepancy that you know you should check up on but don't have time to. You ignore these signs at your peril. Yes, it may be a drag pursuing a line of inquiry that makes superiors uncomfortable, but you're the one who pays the price if you don't. It may not seem like much now but one day it will and you'll have only yourself to blame for making excuses for something that was inexcusable.

You are undergoing an intense period where you are re-examining and even changing your old way of thinking. Usually this happens to people when they've done something wrong and are forced to mend their ways. For you, however, it comes from the realization that certain judgments and preconceptions have kept you locked in a loop where you continue to repeat the same mistakes that you swore you would never make again. The wonderful thing about repetition is that you do learn eventually. Accept an exercise in futility for what it is and you can hop off this mental treadmill and start exploring some fresh perspectives.

What happens when the string suddenly snaps on that kite you've been flying? That's the question you'll be asking when Mars squares Uranus on June 15th. Mars at the top of your solar chart is ambitious; so ambitious that you might have overplayed your hand. Now you could go back and try to make nice with that client or superior or you could stay true to what you want and go in search of a better fit. The choice is yours, but bear in mind that transits like these are often aimed at getting you to play to your strengths rather than apologize for them.

A decision or responsibility that nobody wants and that’s been tossed around like a hot potato finally lands in your hands on June 5th and you couldn’t be happier. For weeks you've watched as lesser lights fumbled around with something they didn't understand. What they regard as a problem is actually a golden opportunity. Not many people recognize hidden potential when they see it. They don't want to put in the time and energy to transform a diamond in the rough into something invaluable and with Jupiter entering the zodiac sign of Cancer next week you'll know exactly what to do to make that happen.

A short trip out of town gets you thinking about what life would be like if you ever decided to relocate. You've been doing the same old thing for so long that you can't help wondering what a new environment might do. Would it bring out aspects of yourself that you've been sitting on? Make you less inhibited, more creative, or adventurous? Maybe even prompt you to learn a new language? Don't worry about having a set plan in place now. What's important is that you let these ideas and thoughts germinate. You're planting the seeds for a possible move or future change in lifestyle.

As a Scorpio you cannot abide injustice – especially when it happens to someone you care about. Take this moment to praise them for doing such an outstanding job – and gush away because they'll likely tell you that they simply did what they thought you would have done in the same spot. Evidently someone's been listening to you all along.

Count to ten before answering because almost every request or favor will start to rub you the wrong way when Mercury enters your opposite sign on May 10th. Not only will people show a remarkable insensitivity to what's going on in your life, but they'll be mulishly thick about it. Try not to get too exasperated because you'll only meet with blank stares. Be patient and resolve to explain things more than twice. There are times when the planets in their courses make people dull-witted and this is one of them. Thankfully the lights come back on again after Mercury departs Taurus on May 25th.
