It looks like there's been a misunderstanding. You thought you were being overly accommodating by saying yes while the other party thought they were being overly generous with their offer. In recent weeks, it's devolved into an unspoken resentment which is why you should return to the bargaining table one more time. The other person isn't as averse to renegotiation as you think; if anything you'll probably hammer out an agreement you can both live with now that Mercury's direct.
