“It's a turning point, but we don't know which way we're turning.” – Rick Levine

Transcript

Laura: Hello, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of The Astrology Hub Podcast. My name is Laura, and I'm your host for these episodes with Rick Levine. We are here again to talk about the astrology forecast for the month of November 2026. Rick, welcome back.

Rick Levine: Well, it's always nice to be here, and thank you. Good to see you again.

Laura: Yes, thank you. Um, so we are recording this on Friday, October 23rd, so we are just on the eve, I guess, of Mercury retrograde. But Rick, before we dive into November, how has October gone for you? We said we were kind of going into the underworld with this retrograde landscape.

Rick Levine: Uh, y- yeah, the underworld, it appears, is deeper, darker, wider, and a longer journey than we might have thought because I'm not sure we're there yet, but we're getting closer and closer. And I think November is, is w- just one more round of, uh, of, of moving closer and closer to that. And now we're gonna begin to get Mercury's help by November. Uh, you know, M- Mercury and Venus will certainly be in cahoots in as much as they're going to be just blasting their energy. And of course, we will get to that.

Laura: Mm-hmm. Yes. I've, I've personally been loving Venus retrograde so far. I've been making good use of it, and so I'm looking forward to Mercury as well.

November Overview

Laura: So let's turn to November, Rick. Does November have kind of like a cohesive landscape or overarching theme to it?

Rick Levine: Uh, yes. Well, at least in my mind it does. I've, I've not listened to other astrologers, as I often do just kind of seeing how other people feel about it. Um, my sense of November is that it is a turning point, and yet I don't think we know which way we're turning yet. But, uh, y- you know, it seems like one of the overriding factors that will determine the course of the month will be election day in the United States. And I know that, of course, this is just a United States issue, but we also have elections in Brazil and in Israel.

And, you know, we've seen with all these retrograde energies and Pluto stationing, I, I think last month, um, uh, you know, when we talked about, uh, October coming up, a lot of it was about Pluto's station direct and how Pluto will really be the kind of commanding factor in the month of October. I don't think Pluto gives up that position yet in November. Because remember, during November, we have Uranus moving toward making its second exact perfected trine with Pluto that, uh, you know, the first one was over the summer in, in mid-late July, and this is going to be with us until spring of 2028.

This is the underlying theme of this couple of two, three-year period of time, and we're getting a second hit on it in November. But again, with all of these global decisions being made and the world kind of more vocal than it's been maybe since the Arab Spring, um, you know, period. You know, the Occupy Wall Street in the United States, that 20- 2012, 2013, '14 period when Uranus was squaring Pluto, and that was probably the most active period going all the way back to '66, '67, '68 when Uranus was conjoining Pluto.

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: And so I think in some ways, this is a major turning point. I've been saying, as I know you know, and those who have been listening to us ramble here for, you know, months, if not years, on Astrology Hub, um, that I've been saying that what's going on is not what's going on, meaning that what's appearing to go on in the outer world is certainly, uh, r- real, that we need to pay attention to it, but there's something else building underneath it and behind it that is those hell realms.

And I say hell realms in the sense of, you know, everything that's not on the surface. The, the, the… N- not the place where you go to get punished, but the place where magic happens, the place where shamans go to do their, their, their shadow work and to bring things through from the metaphysical realms into the physical realms. And I think that whatever has been cooking is like… I- it- it- it's like we're, we're having our nose rubbed in it again and again and again, and, and people are getting more and more aware and angry.

And again, this goes way beyond politics. This is not about red or blue, or about borders or open borders. It's not about, you know, um, gender or birth ge- I mean, the, all of those things are, are, are real issues, but they're all distractions from whatever it is that I think is really going on. And I think November, uh, reveals another round or layer of, of that.

Laura: Mm-hmm. So you're saying like th- when we look out at the world, there's like what's going on, like in the headlines, in the news or anything, but there's something kind of underneath that's coming through that might not be what we think it is. Is that what you're saying?

Rick Levine: W- well, y- yeah. And, and remember, when we look at the news and see what's going on, that's not what's going on.

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Rick Levine: That's what's being controlled in our little echo chambers of feedback so that we are look, we look at this, we look at that. I mean, we get all upset and all crazy about this issue on Tuesday, and it's a huge thing, and by Thursday we're told to look here and we're now distracted by something else. And, and, and yes, all these things that are going on, on some level are real, but there's something bubbling behind it.

And that whatever it is that's bubbling behind it is obvious to anyone who tunes into, um, the, uh, internet and goes beyond the curated news and sees the discoveries that we're making, not only in the macrocosm, in, in, in planets out there and black holes and all kinds of breakthroughs in, in, in physics, but at the same time we're also aware of the studies that are going on within consciousness, um, in, in what is it, you know, that, that creates consciousness.

Certainly some of that is being pushed, um, by the technologies that are coming to light with, you know, with AI and quantum computing and, and, and all of that. But then there's another whole layer of stuff, and that is the awareness that 50 years ago was very different. And that's the awareness that, that when we die, we don't, we don't die. We just don't have a body. In other words, um, more and more people are in touch with, whether it's through the Telepathy Tapes or, uh, or through channels or through psychic mediums, more and more people than ever are aware of the fact—and this comes back to consciousness studies—are, uh, more and more people are aware of the fact that consciousness does not need a body to be conscious.

And this is what's bubbling up that's giving us a, a reason to step into the mess of what looks like the three-dimensional world where we have y- you know, just sick politicians and corporate leaders, greedy and doing nasty things that we don't have to delineate here. That 15 years ago if you told someone that, they'd go, “Yeah, right. You know, that's crazy shit.” And now it's like, no, this is just more shit.

And, and so this, whatever this is that in some way has been bubbling up since the 1960s when Uranus and Pluto aligned—and Uranus the explosion, the, the awakening, Uranus the awakener, Uranus the, you know, the planet that may be more Promethean that steals fire from the gods and the awareness of that, and that all exploding in an evolutionary transformational form in the mid-'60s. But then it kinda went latent. It went quiet or quieter. And then it ca- came out again, you know, at the Uranus-Pluto square. I mean, it keeps bubbling up, but this one I think is the one that's uncontainable.

And where it goes and how it plays out, and I've said this again and again, anyone who says that they know doesn't because it's still in play. It's still, it's still dependent upon what's happening on the streets, what's happening in the ballot boxes, what's happening in our own individual lives and how we treat each other. This is all what's feeding the outcome, and I don't think the outcome is written in stone as much as many people think it is or would like to have it be.

And so yeah, something's bubbling up. And again, if you look at the last Uranus-Pluto trine back in the early 1920s, this was the time when depth psychology was exploding. This is the time when quantum physics was unfolding and exploding. And, and I think that the change that we are at right now is as large a change as humanity has ever seen, and I know that is a bit hyper- hyperbolic. Hyper… Is that the right word?

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Rick Levine: Um, you know, that when we look back, and we've had discussions on this, even going back to the uniqueness of the every 36-year conjunction of Saturn and Neptune, which occurred back on February 20th of this year, 2026, but the last time that happened at the world point, at the zero degree point of the Zodiac, zero degrees of Aries, was 6,000 years ago at the point that Neolithic man became what we might wanna call recognizable in modern form. Um, and so yeah, this is, this is huge, and, and I don't know what's around the bend, but I know that November is another step in that direction, and we go into November with both Mercury and Venus retrograde, and also we go into this month with, um, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, and Chiron and Eris retrograde.

Pluto, which has just come out of retrograde, I think is, still a bit of an anchor. It, it's not moving much because even when Pluto moves quickly, you know, it, it, it doesn't, it doesn't move much. And, you know, right now at the beginning of the month, Pluto is at just barely three degrees of, of Aquarius. I mean, that is just, you know… And, and that's, like, just within minutes of arc where it actually, um, turned direct. But by December 1st, Pluto's still at three degrees of Aquarius.

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: So in the entire month it moves maybe just a half a degree, and so we're getting this incredible push, um, y- you know, backward by, by Mercury and Venus and all the other retrograde planets. Mars is still mushing f- pushing forward, and we'll have a little talk about Mars still being in Leo in the month of November. And the fact is that there is an am- there, there are an, some important Mars-Jupiter dates that we'll come back to in just a moment, including the fact that Mars will catch up and join up with, um, with Jupiter. Um, and, um, and so that becomes a bit of an important piece of this, um, entire puzzle.

But I really think that when Mercury and Venus turn direct on the same day at different points in the sky—they went retrograde at different points 'cause Mercury's retrograde is much shorter than Venus's retrograde, but they both go direct on November 13th, and that's just 10 days, a week and a half after election day in the United States. And I don't know what's gonna happen. You know, we can look at the news and look at the polls and… But again, these are all curated bits of reality that don't really tell us how this is all going to unfold. So—

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: … um, yeah, I th- I'm sorry I just went into, like, this rant, so to speak, but it's, y- you know, things are not what they appear to be. You look on the streets of, you know, of, of France, you know, which has not had this amount of, um, disruption on the streets since 1968 when we were kind of in the, still in the shock waves of the Uranus-Neptune conjunction. Um, you know, you look on the streets all, uh, all around the world, in Spain, um, in, you know, w- what's happened on No Kings Day here in the United States. I mean, people are not happy, or let me say they're not satisfied with the way things are going, um, and by a huge majority. Now what will that do? Will it just stir up another round and layer of repression? I don't know.

Laura: Mm. All right, so we're reaching a turning point. Something's bubbling over. And Rick, from my seat, like, it's very clear that when you look at what's happening in the world, you're being… It's a curated algorithm, right, of news headlines, like almost forced virality of things, um, of things they want you to pay attention to. And but we know that there's corruption. We know that there's so much more going on behind the scenes.

And so when you say something bubbling up, I feel like we've been on this hamster wheel almost for a very long time of, like, we know things are not as they are being told to us. We're not really sure what to do about it. It feels a little powerless. Like, does this bubbling over mean that maybe we're gonna see more truth or more clarity or, like, go in a direction that is gonna be more aligned? Because there's, like, some cognitive dissonance happening between, you know, what we're seeing and what we're feeling is true. Does that make sense?

Rick Levine: Uh, yeah. And, and I think that that cognitive disi- dissonance is important and motivational. And in a way, do you know, you know that story that's told, and, and th- there's no research that actually supports this as true, but it's a great story. And the story is that if you put a frog into, uh, warm water and gradually increase the temperature, it lethargically just boils to death. Horrible image, but if you put a frog into boiling water, it'll immediately struggle to do whatever it can do to get out.

And in some ways, unfortunately, the current bifurcation that we face politically is either slow, happy, boiled to death over decades or a “what the hell's going on” struggle to get out. And, and I don't know that either, uh, of these solutions is, is going to be long-term workable, and yet what I see on the streets, I think, is um, people that actually realize that. You know, I- in, in the United States, an overall overwhelming win for the Democratic Party, the, the projected blue tidal wave, what will that do? You know, will that just put us back to sleep and say, “Okay, now everything's okay. We can stop”? Because that's not the solution, as we know. Um, in fact, it may be worse than the, uh, uh, than how horrible things seem to many people, um, because at least that keeps us on edge and keeps us realizing that we're not going in a way that we wanna go.

I don't have an answer. Um, I really don't. And what do we do in all of this? I, I, I think that part is, is actually easy, and that is what each person does is different from what each other person does, but the overriding thing is that we stay engaged. We don't take the, you know, soporific way out. We don't, you know, we don't take the consciousness sleeping pill that just says, “Ugh, it's all overwhelming. I can't do anything. I'm going back to sleep.“

There's a wonderful Rumi poem, you know, that describes, you know, the morning is breaking. People are moving around. People, you can hear the noises on the street. Do not go back to sleep. You know, you can hear people cr- crossing back and forth over the threshold. Do not go back to sleep. And aga- and, and I think that that's the most important thing we can do, is to stay aware of what's going on.

And I hate to be, you know, a broken record, but astrology does no use at all unless we apply it in our hour-by-hour and day-by-day, uh, life, and that doesn't mean knowing where the planets are at every minute. Days go by, and I don't know where the Moon is. I mean, I, I pay attention, but I don't always pay attention to the particularization down to the moment, but I do when it comes to trying to be kind, when I try, trying to ask questions so that I can open up my mind more because I know that I know what I know. But I don't have a clue as to what I don't know, and if someone knows something that I don't know, I wanna know it even if it makes me feel uncomfortable.

And so I think that, that maintaining a level of curiosity, a level of compassion, a level of kindness, whether you look at your chart or whether you even know your chart, that's more important than having piles of tools and techniques in astrology, in my mind.

Host / Promo Voiceover: Hi, friends. Mercury retrograde is here, this time in the deep waters of Scorpio. Now, Mercury retrograde gets a really bad rap: technical issues, communication mishaps. But I'm here to tell you that you don't need to fear Mercury retrograde. In fact, it can be a really beautiful, reflective, and productive time if you know how to harness the energy properly.

This is exactly why we created a free guide with horoscopes for all 12 signs for this Mercury retrograde period. In this free guide, you'll also get information on what is Mercury retrograde, what does Mercury govern, the nuances of this upcoming period, as well as horoscopes and insights for all 12 signs. The Astrology of Election Day

Laura: So let's talk about the astrology of November. When is Election Day? Why are you saying that's a turning point? Is it the astrology of Election Day or just the c- implications of Election Day?

Rick Levine: I- yeah. Um, it, it's not the astrology of Election Day at all. It's the astrology of November—

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: … in which, again, I get that a lot of our listeners here are u- do not live in the United States, and that living in the United States, our politics seems way more important to us and the world than the world seems it to be to them. Um, but it's not just Election Day in the United States. You know, we have stuff going on, um, major stuff going on in, in, in Europe. We have major stuff going on in South America. You know, we have major stuff going on in Israel. We have major stuff going on, you know, in, in, in, uh, Russia and in the Ukraine. And so it—I think all around the world this is going to be important, but Election Day itself is Tuesday, November 3rd in the United States.

And, you know, as, as a single day, there's some good news, bad news about that day. I think the most important thing, though, is that Venus and Mercury are both retrograde on Election Day, and Mercury, um, is basically one day away from its cazimi. Uh, cazimi is an Arabic word which means in, in the heart, um, of the lion. Um, and a cazimi is, is Mercury in the heart of the Sun. They are exactly aligned.

So retrograde Mercury, as it looks like it's going backward… And, uh, and I'm actually gonna bring my microphone here into the picture so you can, um, so that people can see something, because if you say that… I'm trying to get this so, okay. So here I am on Earth, and the microphone is the Sun. My hand is Mercury. So Mercury is going around the Sun, but if I take the, the, the, the Sun out of the picture just for a moment, it looks like Mercury's going back and forth. But that's why Mercury retrograde is when it gets closer to Earth, and the same with Venus.

And so, um, when Mercury is retrograde and lined up exactly with the Sun, it's, it, it's a, a singularity. It's a, it, it's a focus between our vitality, our light, uh, our life energy, the Sun, and Mercury, our intellect, our logic, our reasoning power. Now remember, when we say logic, it's not just, you know, A equals B, C equals B, therefore A equals C. We think of that as logic. But logic comes from the word logos.

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: And logos actually is a very magical word that is translated badly in the Bible as, “In the beginning, there was the word, and the word was good.” In the beginning, there was logos, and logos defines a vibration that is spoken that is the same vibration as something that was invisible or metaphysical, so that the speaking of it brings the invisibleness of it into the three-dimensional world.

And you see, people forget that Mercury's job… Mercury only had one job in its, in its job description, and that was Mercury is the psychopomp. And the psychopomp is the guide between the worlds. Um, this is a lecture that I, um, have done on Astrology Hub. It's available back, in the Wayback Machine on Astrology Hub, because Mercury's job is to guide souls between this world and that world. And so when Mercury lines up with the Sun, uh, between the Earth and the Sun, it's invisible. It's in, it's, in effect, it's in the other world. It's not until it goes all the way around and then begins, you know, appearing again, um, y- you know, on the other side, either as a morning star, or in this case, it, it'll, um, it'll appear as, as an evening star.

Um, but, but I think the important thing to understand is that when Mercury is lined up with the Sun, there's a singularity of intention that we can have. And I, and, and I… And although Mercury retrograde does impact the clarity of how the election results may come out, and I think that this is an important factor. Going back to the original, uh, Mercury turning stationary retrograde, um, when, um, uh, when Al Gore lost the presidency to, uh, George Bush, that was a stationary retrograde Mercury, and every astrologer on the planet said, “This isn't good. It's not gonna be… We're not gonna know who won.” You know.

And I don't think this Mercury is quite like that, but I think that this Mercury does have in it this whole concept of, of, of, of the trickster, of the invisibleness when Mercury goes into other realms, especially because during this same time, um, give or take a couple of days, we have Venus retrograde. Again, when a planet's retrograde, it's louder than normal 'cause it's closer to Earth. And that sounds great at first, except when a planet's too loud, it gets distorted and it takes over all the other planets. And typically, what we wanna do with it is just turn off the damn radio because it's, because it's not what we're used to, and that's why we miss appointments on Mercury retrogrades. That's why when Venus is retrograde, you know, we, we make, um, errors in decisions with, with money or in relationships because the energy is so intense.

Well, V- Venus retrograde on Election Day, um, w- within a couple of days is opposite both Eris and Chiron. Um, Venus in Libra, Eris and Chiron at the end of Aries. And Mars and Jupiter are inching closer and closer together in Leo, and Mars and Jupiter are making a sextile on one side with Venus, which is opposed the Uranus-Chiron, and on the other side it's making a trine with Chiron and Eris. I think this is really potentially good news. I think what it allows for is the confidence that occurs when Mars and Jupiter line up, and Mars lines up with Jupiter exactly on November 15th. That's just two days after both Mercury and Venus turn direct.

So I think that there could be some craziness and confusion around the elections, um, accusations of votes not counted, uh, accusations of, uh, votes being changed, um, you know, from one side or, or the other. Um, I know that in the state of Alaska, the, uh, Justice Department has already filed a suit in Alaska saying that if the Republicans lose the Senate race, they will be filing a lawsuit because of confusion of names. It, it, it, d- the details of this doesn't matter. It's just indicative of what I think we're gonna see, and I think we're gonna see the fervor and, and the noise of this increase up to Election Day. It's already beginning to where, you know, um, as we record this, we're, like, uh, um, a week and a half away. We're, you know, almost two weeks away from Election Day.

Um, but I think it's gonna get noisier and noisier and noisier, and if it settles down, I don't think it's gonna be until after Venus and Mercury turn direct on the 13th, and then after the trines are made, um, Mars trines, um, Eris and Chiron on the 14th and the 19th, and during that same period of time, Venus, um, and Jupiter, um, are a- also g- g- um, moving, uh, closer and closer to a sextile, um, and that Venus-Jupiter sextile is on November 28th.

I think the 24th through the 28th is gonna be a real key period, um, during that period of time. I know we just jumped, and we'll do the lunations here in a moment. Um, but that, um, on the 24th, Venus having turned direct goes back into its exact opposition to Chiron and Eris and its sextile to Jupiter. And I think this really brings up the old stuff that has been wounding and the potential for healing, and that, a- a- again, on the 24th. On the 25th, the Sun is sextiling Pluto. Um, um, on the 28th, Venus is sextiling Jupiter. These are all flowing potential energy if, if we take the opportunities.

We also have Mars moving out of Leo on the 25th, um, and this is all right after the Full Moon on the 24th, which we'll get to in just a moment, 'cause I think that the Full Moon on the 24th is way more powerful than the New Moon on the 8th when you just look at the energy of, of, of what's being contained.

Uranus Trine Pluto

Laura: But remember, as we move closer and closer to the end of November, we have that Uranus, um, trining Pluto getting closer and closer until it's perfected, it's exact on the 29th of November. And that, I think…

Rick Levine: You know, even at the beginning of the month, Uranus and Pluto are only a degree and a half from being exact. That's, uh, Uranus, the planet of shock, surprise, revolution, awakening, trining Pluto, the planet of transformation, um, of death and rebirth, and that's not physical death necessarily. It's the ending and the beginning, 'cause you can't have a butterfly without the caterpillar, quote-unquote, “dying,” although it really doesn't die. But that, at the beginning of the month, is, is a degree and a half from being exact, and by the 1st of, uh, December, it's exact.

And so the whole month is feeding into this deeper evolutionary awakening and transformation that I think we may see some amazing breakthroughs in the realm of consciousness, of science, of, of, of computing. Uh, AI is certainly a major thing, and I can't say anything about AI without making a side note, and it maybe should be the front and center note, that w- no one knows whether this is ultimately good or bad for who we are and what we're doing, and we know that in the absolute immediate present moment that it's creating tremendous drags, you know, on, on, uh, on fuel, uh, on, on power, on electricity, on water, and these are having very immediate impact, and that impact is not felt evenly.

It's specifically being, uh… The, the weight of that negative energy is being, um, borne by the lower socioeconomic classes. And of course, here we have the whole situation of the bifurcation of the, you know, tech bros, um, w- you know, basically running everything that's running the politics, that's creating the social infrastructures with, you know, us at the bottom of, of that food chain.

Um, having said that, um, w- we're… This is a genie that we're not gonna put back in the bottle. Um, th- any more that when humans first discovered fire, it was not going to be, you know, put back in the bottle or lost. You know, when Tesla developed a way to electrify the planet, which is what, you know, the entire planet pulses at 50 or 60 cycles of electricity every second. You know, e- everywhere around the planet, the entire planet, the electricity's turning on and off 60 times every second, um, out of every wall socket i- in, in, in every country in, on the planet. Is that good or bad? Eh. There's a lot of people who have done a lot of research that says those high-frequency electromagnetic waves do not necessarily have a positive impact on life in general.

We're not gonna make it go away, and I don't think we're gonna make AI go away. Um, and yet I think that through this month, as the Uranus-Pluto, um, trine gets closer and closer, we're gonna see more and more energy out of it. And as we approach the end of the month… And I have, um, some high hopes around that November 29th, you know, couple of days, because not only is the Uranus-Pluto trine the second of five exact trines—the first one was on July, think it was maybe the 18th or 19th, but, you know, um, of 2026. And the final one, the fifth and final one, will be in May of 2028.

So this whole period of time is being defined by this incredible evolutionary transformation. But on the 29th, not only is Uranus exactly trining Pluto, but the Sun on that day—the Sun having moved into Sagittarius, whi- which it does, um, uh, just prior to the Full Moon, the Sun moves into Sagittarius on the 21st—the Sun on November 29th will be making an exact trine to Saturn. So there's something here that I think is a, is ultimately a stabilizing energy in the midst of everything else. So that's my kinda overall… I mean, there's a lot of things that, that we didn't, you know, pick or, you know, or, or, or pull out of the, uh, process.

Mars Conjunct Jupiter

Rick Levine: Um, on November 15th, I already said, though, that Mars will be aligning with Jupiter, and when Mars is aligned with Jupiter, this is almost like the feeling you have if you're on a sporting team and you're running out onto the field. You wanna feel jazzed. You wanna feel excited. You wanna feel in- in, in, undefeated, indefea- indefeatable, undefeatable. You wanna feel like there's nothing that can possibly go wrong.

Well, when Mars and Jupiter are moving towards alignment through the, from Election Day all the way up through November 15th and even for days after that, w- we may be th- riding a wave of optimism and confidence that may not be the whole picture. Because as that begins to separate, we may look back and go, “Huh, that wasn't quite as, um, good as we thought,” or, “That wasn't as quite an important event as we thought it was.” Um, that's all, like, in, in, in the middle of the month.

Um, but at that same time, we also have, uh, Jupiter and Mars crossing the nodal axis here, and this whole period of time, you know, with planets moving through Leo, with Mars and Jupiter moving through Leo, lining up with the South Node while the, um, planets that Mars and Jupiter are sextiling and trining, that would be Venus in Libra on one side, and the Eris and Chiron on the other, they're making trines and sextiles with the nodal axis. We have some good juju this month. And, and whether we will have the, uh, sense enough to make use of all of it, um, as, as Mars… um, uh, you know, as Jupiter moves through its trines with, um, Eris and Chiron, as Mars moves through its trines with Eris and Chiron, it's like there's potential for real healing here.

Laura: Mm.

Rick Levine: We're humans, though. You know, we, we, we can, you know, we can mess up winning the lottery if we're holding the winning ticket sometimes. So that's, you know, that, that's kind of that. Do, do you wanna talk about the New Moon, Full Moon?

Laura: Yeah. Well, first let me, let me—

Rick Levine: Oh, yeah. Sure.

Laura: You—tell me—go… tell me if I have this right, because I feel like w- what I'm listening to is I'm hearing three kind of distinct parts of the month come out. So we have the beginning of the month where Venus and Mercury are still retrograde. We'll get the Mercury cazimi. We get Venus opposite Chiron, Eris. They're really loud. The, the Venus, Mercury retrograde themes are really loud.

And then we have the middle of the month where they start… they, they station direct. We have Mars coming into contact with Jupiter. We have some squares that are activating. And so the middle of the month is kind of we're, like you said, optimists. We're, like, kind of forward motion is here, but we might not have the full picture. It's a lot of energy, a lot of activation.

And then come towards the end of the month, there's some flowing aspects, some things that might bring up old stuff, but are here to potentially be healed and move forward. And so, like, in our own lives, thinking about how this works, like, beginning of the month might be kind of slow, retrogradie. We get some action in the middle of the month, but then towards—

Rick Levine: I think retrogradie, I don't think anything is gonna be slow.

Laura: And we might not—

Rick Levine: No. Okay… in other words, I, I, I think that the level of noise is really high. And even if we're not making the progress that we think we wanna make right now—I think that as long as we stay in the flow, that things are going to be… They're not gonna feel slow, it's just feeling like things are taking longer to unfold th- than we want to.

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Rick Levine: And I, I know that sounds like a, maybe I picked a wrong word. Um—

Laura: Well, with the good juju we have here, I feel like it's important to remember that, like, even if things feel very retrograde or if there's tension, like, there is good juju under it. And so to just keep on, keep through it, keep, keep going. Um, but yeah. Okay, so let's talk about the lunations.

New Moon in Scorpio

Laura: So we have a Scorpio New Moon, um, on the 9th, I believe. Let's talk about it.

Rick Levine: Well, it's on the 8th or 9th, depending upon where you are. Um, on the West Coast of the United States it's at 11:02 PM on the 8th, but in the rest of the United States and all through Europe it's on the m- um, uh, early hours or in the morning of Monday the 9th. Um, regardless of where you are on the planet, um, this New Moon will occur at mid-degrees of Scorpio. It's actually just barely 17 degrees of Scorpio. It's 16 degrees and 53 minutes.

Um, and what's interesting about this, uh, New Moon is that it's coming into squares with Mars and Jupiter. But it's still a bit away, but we're gonna feel, I think, this, a bit of this building optimism. But there's something else here that, again, I think most astrologers won't pay attention to, I am, and that is that on the day of the New Moon we have, um, the Sun and the Moon at the moment of the New Moon making a square and a half to Neptune. A square and a half is sometimes called a sesquiquadrate. That's Latin for one and a half. Like a sesquicentennial is 150 years, a sesquiquadrate square, or a sesquiquadrate quadrant as some people say, is basically a square, 90 degrees, and plus a half a square, 45 degrees. 90 and 45 is 135 degrees.

And anyone who's worked with these, they, they know that these semi half squares and sesqui, one and a half squares, are every bit as strong as a square. And when they're exact, they can even be stronger. Well, at the moment of the New Moon, the Sun and the Moon are sesquiquadrate square to Neptune at 1/30 of a degree of being exact, and, um, and, and that, th- and that exactness, um, is, is actually applying, meaning that it's, it's getting stronger to becoming exact.

Um, and what does that mean? It means that there's confusion, uncertainty. It means that, um, when you have the Sun or Moon making a hard aspect to Neptune, um, you don't know what's real. Um, or what you think is real is not necessarily real. Or you exaggerate and tell someone else something that then they think is real that you weren't really even sure about, or someone tells you something and you don't realize that they exaggerate. The, the, the, the place where a little exaggeration becomes a white lie becomes a blatant misconception or deception is strong.

On the other hand, the positive side of this is in its potential for vision because we're not constrained by reality. And so we have the Sun and Moon, um, you know, in mid-Scorpio, uh, uh, uh, planting a seed, we have retrograde Venus having backed over the Sun and Moon already. We have retrograde Venus having backed over the Sun and Moon already also. In fact, Venus backed up all the way so she's a bit more powerful in, um, in, in, in Libra where she's at home. And yet the Sun and the Moon are having a really complicated interaction with Neptune, the planet of idealism and dreams.

And where is Neptune? It's back at almost zero degrees of Aries where it was at the conjunction with Saturn. It's really… It's, it's at two degrees of Aries. But it's retrograded back almost as far as it's gonna go, and V- and, and Neptune when it's in Aries is not just about being misled. It's not just about misconception. It's not just about idealism. It's about taking that and procreating or progenerating, it's, it's progenerative because it's at that creative point. And in a way, the feeling is maybe that that Scorpio Moon wants to hold on and be a little bit more circumspect, wants to hold that energy in in its intensity, and yet the Neptune, it's almost like we can't help but thinking, “Oh my God, boom, big idea. Big…” You know, uh…

And again, uh, tying this to being just a few days after the election in the United States, you know, if, if our party, whatever it is, um, loses control or, or, or gains or doesn't gain control, on one hand we may be unwilling to accept what it is that we have to deal with, you know, in the years coming. There may be a whole lot of post-election, you know, words and craziness that with Mercury and Venus retrograde it's like, “Oh my God, we've been here before,” because they're retrograde. Um, and yet you really don't need to be an astrologer to think that that might unfold. So it's just looking at this New Moon chart.

I think the thing that most people or many people will miss is the, uh, New Moon's sesquiquadrate to Neptune. And on top of that, Venus retrograded almost back as far as it's going to go, um, Venus, um, having just opposed Chiron and E- um, yeah, Chi- Eris and Chiron, is gonna move back forward through that again, and yet it's, it's, uh, trining, um, sorry, it's sextiling, um, Mars and Jupiter. And so again, I think we got some real complications, but we have some real potential for what the confidence and what the vision and what the hope may actually bring for healing around the corner.

This Gemini Full Moon is at early degrees of fire and air. Why does that matter? Because early degrees of fire and air is where the Uranus-Pluto trine is taking place with Neptune at the early degrees of Aries, fire. Uranus at early degrees of Gemini, uh, air. Pluto at early degrees of Aquarius, air. And during this, the Sun will be at early degrees, at two degrees of Sagittarius fire. And what this Full Moon does is it activates the Uranus-Pluto square that a- I'm sorry, the Uranus-Pluto trine, that at this Full Moon the Uranus-Pluto trine is less than one-third of a degree from being perfected.

Remember, it perfects, it's exact, um, just five days later on the 29th. And so this Full Moon is trine Pluto and closely conjunct Uranus and closely sextile Neptune. And this makes it incredibly potent. And on top of that, we have Mars at the very last degree of Leo moving into Virgo. Um, I mean, uh, M- and Mars moves into, uh, Virgo, um, uh, early on, uh, no, on the 25th, just in the afternoon on the 25th. And as Mars moves into, um, Virgo, it's going to be squaring the, um, Sun at the Full Moon, and, um, and, um, and it will… And, uh, by sign. And so both the Sun and the Moon have squared Mars just prior to the Full Moon, and I think that this is the disruptive, this is the angry, this is the, uh, the energetic side of it.

And, and, and we look at that Jupiter-Mars conjunction, which at the Full Moon is about, um, Jupiter, Mars is almost three degrees from being exact now, and, and it is separating. But those two planets are also trining the Chiron Eris. A- and so we, uh, where Venus is opposite it. This is a complicated and powerful fool- Full Moon that has almost everything in the chart activated with one exception, and that is the one planet that is not connected with everything else going on is Mercury in mid-Scorpio.

Now, what does that mean? It means that in some way the noise of the intellect has, on, in some way either settled down or is out of the way. There's more going on. I think the, again, this feeds into the end of November, which, which I think is a powerhouse that begins, um, actually, um, on the 23rd. Actually, when the Sun moves into Sagittarius on the 21st, that Sun moving into Sagittarius is already going to be picking up on the opposition to Uranus in Gemini. Remember, this is gonna be a Full Moon in Gemini. So when the Sun moves into Sagittarius, it's already picking up on its opposition to, uh, Uranus in Gemini. It's already picking up to its trine to, uh, Neptune in, in Aries, um, which, uh, will be exact on the 23rd. It's already picking up on its sextile to Pluto.

Uh, I, I think that, that when we, when the Sun moves into Sagittarius on the 21st there's like… It, it's like a change of climate. It's not just an- a, another day. Something is building that is creating a whole different sense, and what that sense is I don't know, 'cause remember, the positive side of Sagittarius… And Sagittarius has a lot of positive sides. I remember a number of years ago at an astrology conference, someone did a survey. Um, and I don't remember how many people they asked randomly. Um, but they asked astrologers, um, “In your lif- in your next lifetime, what sign do you wanna be?” And the overwhelming answer was Sagittarius.

Now, I have a theory, and that is that theory, my theory is that Sagittarius is the only sign that doesn't cast a shadow. Now, obviously it does, but there's something about the optimism and the confidence when you see, uh, that Sagittarius motion, which is Jupiterian, when you see that in full swing, it's like, what can go wrong? Nothing. Even if everything goes wrong the next moment, you know? And so, and so I think we're gonna ride a little bit of that positive energy, which is cool. Except we can become fixed on the ideal that either doesn't exist or is a wrong ideal.

And I think a lot of the problem that we're facing culturally is that even when we make informed decisions, we're making them without knowing everything. There are other people who know more about what's going on than we do, and they may not say or may not be able to say what they know, and so we think they're idiots and they're making a wrong decision, but we may be the idiots 'cause we may not have information that someone else has. Now, all I'm saying is that everything in astrology is a mixed blessing. I am not a fan of “this and that is good,” or “that square, this is bad,” or whatever. Uh, uh, the, the universe itself doesn't have a good or bad, it only has an inhalation, exhalation, and one doesn't occur without the other.

Laura: Mm. So Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. With Mercury not kind of being in the conversation or making contact during this Full Moon, are there implications or blind spots that we should be aware of? Is it this, that we don't know all the information?

Rick Levine: Well, uh, um, um, maybe. Um, and, and one of the words I've been trying, unsuccessfully, trying to eliminate from my vocabulary, uh, is ruler. I, I think it's a terrible word. Uh, I, I, I think it's hierarchical, I think it's patriarchal. I don't believe planets rule signs. I believe that they, I, I believe that a sign hosts a planet. I believe a planet curates the energy, you know, or is curated by whatever sign it's in. Um, this isn't always gentle. This is not an excuse for not looking at the complications or severities of some planets and signs.

But I do think that with the Mercury, um, in Scorpio… And remember, in Scorpio, Mercury is very happy not saying what it knows, you know? Mercury is very, is very content because, because remember, the power of Pluto and the power of Scorpio is the fact that it is excluded from awareness. You know, when Pluto was demoted as a planet and astrologers were running around going, “Oh, my God, that's awful. You know, Pluto is so important. Pluto really is a pl—” Bullshit. Pluto had more power when it wasn't a planet, when it was part of everyone's awareness.

You know, it's like it, it, it, um, th- there's a book by Charles Fort, uh, who wrote in the early 1920s, uh, he wrote some crazy New York Times bestsellers, and one of them was called The Book of the Damned. And in his book, The Book of the Damned, he talked about people who had stories that they had experienced of things that were impossible, and his opening line of this book is this: “By the damned, I mean the excluded.”

Laura: Hmm.

Rick Levine: … which is really what damnation is. You know, if you were damned, you know, by the church, you were excommunicated. You were outside of the community, which was almost like a proclamation of death. In many indigenous cultures, the greatest punishment possible is living without the tribe. You, you, I mean, you can't do it. You die. And so, and yet that's what Pluto likes because Pluto's strength comes from what is hidden, and it's the hidden, it's the what we don't know that has power over us.

I'm not sure this Mercury in Scorpio is a bad deal, especially because Mercury in Scorpio is disposited by Pluto—disposited meaning that, that in modern astrology, um, uh, Pluto, um, i- is the planet that does Scorpio's business, or even in traditional astrology it's Mars. Mars in this chart, in the Full Moon chart, is very unstable because it's at the very, very, very, very last yelling haul of that screaming Leo boasting and roaring, and then all of a sudden by tomor- by, by the 25th, the day after the Full Moon, Mars kind of all of a sudden says, “Okay, I'm in Virgo now. I need to make sense and I need to be effective. I'm done yelling and screaming.“

Um, Pluto, um, the modern, uh, planet associated with Scorpio, is actually under some really good aspects. I just said I don't use good or bad, but it's… it—remember, it's being trined by the Moon at the Full Moon. It's being trined by Uranus. It's being sextiled by the Sun, and it's being sextiled by Neptune. So I don't think that this Mercury thing is necessarily a bad thing. I think it's almost a matter of as everything else is shining brightly and the changes are happening really fast, I think, toward the end of the month, I think we don't need to have words for everything.

Laura: Hmm. Okay. That's good. You don't need to necessarily make sense of it or articulate it just quite yet. Wow. Okay. We have a big month ahead of us again. Uh, so Rick, where is the opportunity this month? What are you—

Rick Levine: Oh, I thought you were gonna… I, I thought you were gonna say, “So what are the words for the month?”

Laura: N- no, no. Where's the opportunity? How can someone really harness this month?

Rick Levine: Uh, pay attention, be kind, and do whatever you can do to participate in your world that may have ramifications in the greater world.

Laura: Hmm. Love that. I love that.

Rick Levine: And I do have, a- and I do have a one-liner for the month, though.

Laura: Okay, I'll ask you. Rick, if you had to sum this month up in one, one word, what would it be?

Rick Levine: “I don't know.” No. Um, it's, it's a turning point, but we don't know which way we're turning.

Laura: Hmm. Okay.

Rick Levine: A- and, and, and if we had this same conversation about the month ahead, if we did this same conversation on November 5th or 6th, we may have a very, very different take of what it was that we chose to discuss or how we would choose to discuss it. Because I really do think that what, uh, what unfolds at the beginning of the month, not because of the astrology of the beginning of the month. It's almost like the astrology at the end of the month is retrocausally pulling the events of the beginning of the month into it.

Laura: Hmm.

Rick Levine: And, and so, um, uh, but I do think that it'll take getting through the beginning of the month until we have a sense of where we're going. Uh, but we're going there, I think. For lots of months we're saying, you know, we've been saying, “There's big changes ahead. There's big changes ahead. We're in the midst of it. We don't know. We don't know.” I, I think that by the end of November we're gonna have an- another round of a sense—

Laura: Hmm.

Rick Levine: … of w- of where we are.

Laura: All right, everyone. Be kind. Participate in your local community. Don't go back to sleep. And, um, yeah, stay awake. We got this. Rick, thank you so much for another fantastic forecast, for stewarding this community. It's always a pleasure. And thank you all for tuning in, for leaving your comments, uh, for just being a part of our community. Thank you as always for making astrology a part of your life, and we'll catch you next month. Take care.

Rick Levine: And thank you.
