Laura: Well, hello, everyone. Welcome back to The Astrology Hub Podcast. We are live here on YouTube today. I have a very special episode for you. My name is Laura. I am Astrology Hub's head of operations and your host of today's show. And today we're gonna be talking about a very specific use of as— str— I think we're not live. Are we live? It says six minutes to live. Oh, yes.

Joe G.: Yes, we're live. Okay, or no, we're live.

Laura: We, we are live. Okay, we are live.

Joe G.: Mercury retrograde times.

Laura: Oh, okay, yes. Uh, we were just talking about how it's bold of us to go live on when Mercury's about to station. But anyway, welcome to The Astrology Hub Podcast, everyone. It's so great to be here live with you all today on YouTube. My name is Laura. I am the head of operations here at Astrology Hub, and we have a very special episode today with astrologer Joe G., where we'll be talking about a very specific use of astrology, which is finding the right time to take action, to start something, to not start something, otherwise known as electional astrology.

So Joe G., welcome back to the show. It's so great to have you here.

Joe G.: Yeah, thank you.

Laura: And if you don't know Joe G., um, I'm gonna let you know a little bit about him so you get to know him a little bit more. Joe G. is an astrologer and multimedia producer using medieval and Hellenistic techniques to help clients plan, organize, and execute projects to the finish line. He has hel— he has produced work for Astrology Hub, Christopher Renstrom, the Alexandria I-Base Library, and serves as ISAR's marketing director. Combining electional astrology with hands-on audio/video production, Joe helps ventures flourish from concept to launch. And yes, Joe is a part of our Astrology Hub team, so I can attest that he actually does that very, ve— very, very well.

So Joe, welcome back to the show. Thank you so much for joining me today to talk about this subject, because this is, for me, I don't use electional astrology, so I'm so excited to hear your take on it and just to get your advice. So welcome to the show.

Joe G.: Yeah, thank you so much.

Laura: Yeah. So for those people who don't know what electional astrology is, can you just describe briefly what it is and how might it be a little bit different than the astrology that we're used to practicing, like transits and progressions and things?

Joe G.: Yeah. I, I like that you said that you don't do electional astrology because I've been… I've come to change my thought around that. ‘Cause I used to define electional astrology in a very specific way because I, I learnt astrology, like traditional astrology, and there are so many rules and so many ways of doing things. And that kind of creates this perception that there's one way to do electional astrology, and if you're doing this, this is electional astrology and this is not anymore.

And I've come to think about electional astrology more as just making decisions and making choices, uh, uh, taking into account what the astrology of the time. And that, I think, broadens the scope so much more 'cause if you're, like, watching a horoscope and you know that there's a Mercury retrograde coming around and you avoid, uh, sending an email or you take extra care sending that email, what you're doing is electional astrology essentially. You're taking into account the astrology of the time and you're acting accordingly.

Whether you're deciding to do or not do something, I think should fall under the umbrella of electional astrology. That's why I, I, I like to call astro— electional astrology more so like just the astrology of choices. ‘Cause then it's, it's, it's just really about making a choice, and you can be very specific with that choice or you can be a little broader, but that's still a choice, uh, no matter what.

Laura: I love that broadening of electional astrology 'cause you're right. Like, I take Mercury retrograde into account, like when there's a f— when the Moon's waxing or waning. And so 'cause I think sometimes people think of electional astrology of, like, choosing an exact date, exact moment to do something, which is part of electional astrology, right? But you're saying that it's just, like, using the, uh, the astro— astrological landscape as context for your choices and just being aware, yeah?

Joe G.: Yeah, exactly. Mm-hmm.

Laura: Yeah. So when people think of, like, choosing the exact date and, like, an auspicious date, what, what do they mean when they're doing that? Like, what makes a date auspicious?

Joe G.: I think that depends on the approach, but for me, um, I, I, I always like to talk about, like, planetary dignity as, like, planetary responsibility. So we're very, uh, used to this idea that planets rule signs, and they're supposed to… They feel good in that sign or something along those lines. I like to think about that a little bit different and more so in terms of, like, a planet in a sign that it, it does well at is just in a place where it's very capable of doing something. It's like the things that that planet is good at doing are all available, and so that planet has, like, full power to, to do that stuff. Um—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —and so I think when we're looking for the perfect time, we're kind of just looking for… I, I like the planets as kind of like the celestial staff. We're trying to figure out who is on shift right now, who has the things that they need to d— to make something happen, who doesn't, uh, who's trying to challenge something, who's not.

And, uh, the best, uh, date for something, I think, is just the date that is more in tune with what it is that you're trying to do. ‘Cause the best date to get married and the best date to start a business might be very different dates. Um, and you might be… A— and even the type of marriage and the type of business might really change depending on, um, really change the chart that you want to use for that. So I think it, I think it's, it's very circumstantial, but yeah. Does that answer the question?

Laura: Yeah, yeah. So how do you… So you, you seem to be saying that you're using electional astrology, like, in this broader term than I think a lot of people think about it. Like, how do you personally use it? Like, what type of activities are you using, and how often?

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, initially I used to like really go nuts with it. If I'm sending an email and I want a part— a sp— particular outcome, I would like pick the date and the time and do all that stuff. But nowadays I feel like w— with this, this mindset that, uh, electional astrology really is just about, um, um, making astrologically informed choices. What I do nowadays is just that as I'm doing something, I just check the chart and I save it, and I use that as information to what could come of the thing that I, I have done.

Or if I, I do have, uh, some say on like let's say somebody's trying to throw a party or something, and they give me like a week and they ask me to choose a couple dates, I'll just look at that week and see which day of the week is more conducive to the thing that we're doing. But I, uh, but, but I think then that's it. It— it's really more so like a, a, an on-the-go approach to electional astrology.

‘Cause I think one of the, one of the reasons why I stopped electing every single moment every time was that, uh, it can be very anxiety-inducing. It's like, “Oh my God, I, I missed it by like five minutes, and now the ascendant is different. Everything is, is wrong.” And I fi— I found out most of the time that's, that's not really true. Sometimes even just being on the day that all these energies are available can be good enough.

Or even just sometimes when you, you do miss the chart and you do notice something that might be less than ideal, that just gives you information to maybe like we talked about in the Mercury retrograde, uh, uh, situations, like maybe I just need to be a little bit more careful with documents. Maybe I just need to, um, try and explain myself a little bit more dr— because I, I, I did this thing at this time. Things like that.

I feel like that's where electional astrology and like the framework that electional astrology gives us is, is really useful 'cause it just—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —it just lets us think about the chart of the moment and what that chart is, is giving you, and then you can compare and contrast with your own chart and then see w— uh, where you might have like really a good synastry even with the, the time that you're taking an action or something along those lines. So that's how I do it today.

Laura: Yeah, that's, that's goes into my next question was, like, how does it work alongside someone's chart? Like, when you're electing things for your personal life, are you looking at your chart as well? Like, how do they work together?

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, so one of the core concepts or the, or the more, most important thing about electional astrology is the ascendant. Um, so whenever you're doing something or if you're choosing a time to do something, you always want to look at the ascendant of that time. And that ascendant, of course, is a house within your chart. And so it's sometimes more helpful to highlight houses, uh, that are ruled by planets in your chart that are, are already feeling really good. They're really more strong, and they have more stuff, uh, more, uh, resources available to them.

Um, or even it can just be as simple as, uh, I'm throwing a party. Maybe I'm just gonna use Taurus rising for myself 'cause I'm Cancer rising, and that's, like, the 11th house, the place of groups, friends, hopes, and dreams, and all that kind of stuff. So the, the, the time, uh, itself has a chart, and then you have your own chart. And looking, uh, and comparing and contrasting both of them just lets you know how you fit within that time, I guess, is a, is a way to put it.

Laura: Mm-hmm. Joe, I— you're, like, kind of blowing my mind and changing my mind about electional astrology because I've—

Joe G.: Oh.

Laura: I, I I've kind of been in the camp of like, I don't feel like we're meant to control everything. I don't… You know what I mean? And so, like, sometimes I feel when, when people use electional astrology for everything, right? Like, I can't even have this meeting w— without knowing what the Moon is doing. It, it makes me feel like that's, like, not our role i— in this human form. Like, we're meant to go through some certain challenging situations. Like, not everything is supposed to go off perfectly all the time.

And so what you're saying is kind of blowing my mind and opening me up to using this a little bit more in the wa— thinking about it, I guess, in this way. Um, because it's much more just like— what we do on this podcast all the time, like here's the weather coming up, and navigate it accordingly. So—

Joe G.: Yeah, exactly.

Laura: And then I love using your chart in it as well. So, um, so let's think about 2027 because you recently put together our Magic Dates report, uh, for 2027, which is our, like, electional report. Joe puts together a list of, um, the best and kind of challenging dates or just a bunch of elections that you can use throughout the year. And so how is 27, 2027 looking compared to 2026 in terms of, like, the auspicious dates and good elections? ‘Cause I know some years with certain transits it can be really hard to find windows. Like, what was your experience like looking at next year?

Joe G.: Yeah. Uh, next year was, was very interesting. There's a lot of e— elections there that I, I would never… that, that I had to, like, really stop and try to think what, what it would be good for.

Um, but to answer, uh, the first part of your question, how it compares to 2026, is that I feel like 2026 was a very solar year because a lot of the positive energy that we had available was in Leo. So we had Jupiter in Leo, uh, Venus would also transit through, through Leo, connect with Jupiter and all these sorts of things. Um, and then we also ha— I guess, had Jupiter in Cancer, so it, it really was like this Jupiter-focused year.

Um, I think going into 2027, uh, we go towards more of a martial focus, um, uh, which wa— was very interesting to see, 'cause the year starts with a Mars retrograde. So if that makes you feel like maybe Mars is not like the guy to run this year. But as, as the, the year keeps going along, uh, and even as I was choosing dates, uh, I realized that because, um, Mars is going retrograde in Virgo and Leo, one thing that happens right away when the retrograde ends is that the Sun will be in Aries, and then Mars will be in Leo, so they will be exchanging resources and collaborating really well.

Um, and then after that period, I think there's only, like, four months, so I think it's from May to August, that Mars is, like, either, like, middling to, like, a little bit weak, but then for the rest of the year, it's, it's just Mars juice all the way along, all, all the way.

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: It's like Mars in Scorpio is feeling really strong 'cause it's, it's also gonna be getting help from Jupiter, uh, in Virgo, and that's a really interesting sextile. And then we'll have, uh, Mars in Capricorn also, um, which will have a similar, similar situation than we had with Mars and the Sun, uh, where Mars will be in Capricorn and Saturn will be in Aries, so they will also be exchanging benefits and resources and things like that.

So a— as I, I was preparing for this, I, I was thinking like, “Okay, how, how can I boil this down to, like, what is this year actually good for?” And Mars is, is a planet of destruction, where, as we, we all know, and sometimes it— we can feel re— very scared about that. It's like, oh my God, how can we, uh, destroy things constructively? But I think that that's actually what this year is so good for, uh, because Mars is not just alone being able to, like, do the martial things that we all know and love Mars for.

Uh, Mars is getting help from the Sun, which is about leadership and charging forward, so it— it's, it's like destruction with this aim of, like, proper leadership. And then we have Mars in Scorpio with that sextile from Jupiter in Virgo, which Jupiter in, in Virgo, uh, can have its challenges, but because, um, uh, that's a Jupiter-Mars sextile, it talks about destruction but expansion at the same time. It's like destroying… Especially with Mars in Scorpio. It's like destroying the things that are old, the things that are not working anymore, to then go to Jupiter in Virgo, think about the systems and how we can build this from the ground up.

And then, of course, we have Mars in Capricorn later on with Saturn in Aries, which can be a very destructive, uh, combination also. But then it, it, it's also this sort of deal with Mars exalted in Capricorn. It's like, okay, now that we've laid the ground flat, we destroyed everything that we didn't want in our lives anymore, how can we build this mountain from the ground up, and then set ourselves up for, uh, 2028, basically? ‘Cause Mars will be in Capricorn for, I think it's, like, basically November, December into January. Uh, so yeah.

Laura: Wow, okay. So it can feel like, so with it being Mars-focused, good. And you're saying you're using the word destruction, but could it also be other like Mars words like, like getting things done, right? Like having drive to like work towards something, or are you using that word for a very specific reason?

Joe G.: Yeah. I, I'm using the word somewhat deliberately. But, uh, uh, yes. All, all of the Mars—

Laura: Yeah.

Joe G.: —words would be available, but I think the Mars, um, Saturn, um, mutual reception, it's like Mars in Capricorn with Saturn in Aries is really the strongest sort of like moment of the year. Because—

Laura: Okay.

Joe G.: —we've been dealing with Mar— or with Saturn in Aries for, um, a really long time, kind of like unattended. Like Mar— Saturn in Aries hasn't had a whole lot of help, especially with, um, um, uh, with the Mars retrograding, you know, kind of adding to that lack of resources for Saturn and Saturn things. And Saturn i— is the, the structures that we live within. It's doing the hard work a— and, uh, especially in Aries, which is like the very first, uh, zodiac sign. It is doing the, the hard work from like the bottom, uh, up. It's like really starting from zero.

And so I, I, I really like this word destruction, but in a positive way for Mars. ‘Cause I feel like we can all agree that there's things in the world right now that we're not happy about, and I think it's really good to sometimes to rely on Mars to solve some of these problems. Um—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —'cause, um, coming from a, a traditional astrology too, Mars has been always one of the planets that I kind of like struggled with 'cause I'm like, nothing seems really good about Mars. Um, but, uh, in, in coming back to Brazil, uh, if, if you guys, uh, don't know, I, I live in Brazil now. Uh, I got connected with, um, uh, African traditional religions a little bit more and understanding a little bit more of the mythology of it. And in African traditional religions, Mars is almost analogous to the god Ogun, which is the god of iron. He's also the god of war, but not so much war. It's more about like conquest. But h— his main job is go through like the woods, go into like the Amazon, and to cut the trees down so you can have a path forward.

And that really changed how I see Mars. I'm like, okay, I get it now. It's like, yes, we're destroying things, but sometimes what we're destroying is a wall in front of us, and if we don't destroy—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —this wall, we can't move forward. And so I think that—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —that's kind of like the, the gift of 2027, of being able to kind of like make friends with Mars and do like, um— I don't know, like conscious destruction or like a conscious demolition. Let's take this thing down and build something up, uh, build something new kind of thing.

Laura: Mm. Yeah. Sometimes you gotta take something down and build something better.

Joe G.: Yeah.

Laura: So, so what I'm hearing you say, Joe, is when you're looking for good elections, strong elections, you're looking for like a planet that is in like a domicile or a, a good dignity, like it has power in the sign and potentially support from other planets via aspects, right? So the Mars is powerful in, exalted in Cancer, making a sextile to Aries in that mutual reception between Aries and Capricorn. So when is that happening, the Mars and Saturn sextile?

Joe G.: Yeah, let me see. I had it, uh, noted here. Um, so the Mars, uh, Saturn mutual reception happens, it starts on November 26th and goes all the way to January 3rd of 2028.

Laura: Okay, so we start the year with that energy and with Mars retrograde. So if you, uh, are interested—

Joe G.: Oh, no. Sorry, sorry, sorry. It's, it's, it's the opposite. We end the year with the Mars.

Laura: Oh, we end the year.

Joe G.: Mm-hmm.

Laura: Okay, so we're building up to that. Okay, good. Well, that's probably more powerful with Mars not retrograde making those aspects. Yeah. So, yes. Um, so if you are interested in getting more of the landscape from an electional perspective of next year, we actually have a free guide that we put together for you all that goes through kind of like a high-level overview of each of the months of 2027. And we also included a couple of elections in there so you can kind of see what it looks like.

Um, so if you want to download that, you can get that for free, um, by going to astrologyhub.com/magicgift. Uh, you can, um, get that and kind of get an overview of the year, of, of what was Joe was saying. And this is actually a preview to our Magic Dates report, the full electional report, where you can, um, s— get, like, actual dates with, uh, advice on what things are good and not good for. So, um, definitely highly s— suggest checking that out, um, astrologyhub.com/magicgift. It's, it's free, and, um, it's really, really helpful if, if what Joe just said is, uh, intriguing you. So, um, okay. So any— besides Mars, is there anything else that stood out in 2027?

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, I think the other thing that I really like, uh, uh, it's still in the Mars territory, but it's, um, Mercury also in Virgo this time around, because for the longest time we've had Saturn opposing Mercury whenever Mercury was in Virgo, so that can complicate things a little bit. Um, and, uh, I, I believe there was also eclipses and things like that happening in Pisces and Virgo. And this is gonna be the first… I, I think it's the first year where we'll have, um, Mercury in Virgo without any complications around him. And just as Mercury enters Virgo, we'll also have Jupiter and Venus come in at the same time. So it'll be like this big Virgo party happening, like, right in the middle of the year.

Um, and, and, and that was one of the windows that I've really liked within this Mars context because if the Mars retrograde causes problems in the beginning of the year and things like that, and Mars slows down around, uh, summertime in the Northern Hemisphere, only to, like, really pick up speed back up in September, Mercury in Virgo comes in just before that, and Mercury in Virgo is great for setting the plan, setting the action plan, especially with Jupiter and Venus, like these benefic influences. Um, it, it, it's really about like creating a plan that is constructive and generative.

And so I think the, um, that's a— another wi— window of time that I really like because, um, it gives us the, the time, space, and the resources to not just like tear stuff down and, and rebuild, but to als— also take a step back and really come up with like a master plan for how we're gonna be handling these things. Um, yeah.

Laura: All right. So that's middle of the year Mercury in Virgo. Okay. Very cool. So these are strong elections, probably good for certain things. Are, are there l— can… Are there, like, elections that are challenging that you can use constructively? Like, when you think of—

Joe G.: Yeah.

Laura: —like you mentioned that… Yeah, say more about that.

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, I have actually a few of them in the, um, um, uh, in the Magic Dates report, uh, actually. Um, there's a window of time that was really hard to find something and, uh, I ended up going with a Mercury in Pisces election, and everybody's like, “Oh my God, Mercury in Pisces, not good.” But, uh, i— it's like Mercury in Pisces with support from Venus in Pisces as well, and I think that's, that's the o— one of the reasons why I like reframing dignity as just the planet feeling good, and more so as the planet having the tools that they need to do the job that they have within that place.

Um, because, um, when we talk about dignity, uh, in traditional astrology, one of the, the actual worst dignities that a planet can have is no dignity at all. Uh, which would be like a peregrine planet that is not, like, in its own sign, it's not, um, in detriment or fall or anything like that, 'cause it's almost like a planet has no interest, uh, in that sign. So it, it really just doesn't really wanna do anything there.

Um, but Mercury in Pisces, uh, doesn't… Dignity f— feels wrong to say when the dignity they have is fall and detriment in that sign. But the, uh, the responsibility that Mercury has within Pisces is to deconstruct, uh, Pisces things. If Pisces is about, like, this w— w— like, whimsy and fantasy and all that kind of stuff, Mercury in Pisces can be challenging because it's trying to put all those things into words. And so that, that, that was w— uh, why I chose that election, 'cause, um, I think that it, it was… It's a really good time to try and take that fantasy and to try and take the, those st— those things that are, like, harder to explain and actually try to explain them. Uh, they m— may not be explained in, in the perfect way, uh, but there's, there's definitely a lot that can be gained there.

I think even in that election I said that it would be really good to, uh, uh, be a really good day to just, like, toss as many ideas on a journal as you possibly can. None of them have to make any sense. It can just be scribbles or whatever. And then later on when Mercury is in Virgo you open that book again and you read it all and see which one is actually worth your time, and which ideas were just—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —like, whimsical and really nonsensical, and maybe they should go. Um, so does that answer the question? Um—

Laura: Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And earlier you said that the eclipses in, um, Virgo and Pisces made it challenging for a Mercury in Virgo election. Why are eclipses challenging from an electional standpoint?

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, I think eclipses, to something that you said, uh, that sometimes elections can feel a little, like, yucky because you feel like you're trying to control the time, uh, and we really shouldn't be doing that. I totally agree with that, actually, and I think that that is why eclipses can be challenging, uh, because it's one of those times where it's not about control. It's not about, like, um, having a say on how things go. It's just like the universe is tossing you a curveball, and you just kind of have to go with the curveball.

And if electional astrology is this act of making astrological informed choices, uh, eclipses can be tricky because w— we don't really know what we're choosing because they're, they can be so unpredictable. Not, not eclipses are always bad, but they, they really always tend to bring these reversals or, like, dramatic, uh, switches in, like, timelines in, in the stories that we're living. And that's why it, it can be a little less ideal to work with an eclipse. Um, but I have done some eclipse elections in the past, and some of them have worked, some of them have not. So it's, it's not that eclipses are always bad, it's just, like, you, you just can't really… You don't really know what you're gonna get.

Laura: Mm. So you have to, like— you have to really understand that it's kind of a wild card in whatever you're electing it for.

Joe G.: Yeah, exactly. Yeah.

Laura: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Okay. Interesting. Were there any other months that stood out in 2027, or any other periods of time, uh, from an electional standpoint?

Joe G.: Yeah. Um, I think—

Laura: Okay.

Joe G.: —November is probably one of the best months of the year. I think November, December, the, the end of 2027 looks really strong, um—

Laura: Okay.

Joe G.: —because I, I talked about how Mars and Saturn are exchanging favors in that way because they're in each other's signs. But at the same time, we'll also have Mercury in Sagittarius with, uh, Jupiter in Virgo doing a little bit of the same, and that's, uh, uh, yet another election that I have wh— where planets are, like, classically in challenging signs, but we can make it work somehow. Um—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —'cause, uh, I, I like the Jupiter in Virgo combination with Mercury in Sagittarius 'cause it, it really feels like a, like, let's try it all sort of thing. Let's, like, let's just try a little bit of everything and see what's gonna work. Uh, and I think that's a, a really, a great gift to have while we also have the Mars, uh, Saturn situation, um, uh, going on.

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: Because if we talked about this Mars-Saturn mutual reception as the, like, the flattening of the ground, having Jupiter and Mercury collaborating to just, like, test things out, uh, seems like a really fertile ground for people to maybe try things that they haven't done before because they have a blank slate, uh, and to have those ideas, uh, flourish in, in, in, like, a very, like, speedy fashion.

‘Cause one of the things that can be challenging about Jupiter and Virgo and Mercury and Sagittarius respectively is that these two planets sometimes try to do a lot more than they should be doing,

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —and that can cause problems. But when you have, like, a blank slate, it, you're supposed to draft. You're supposed to be sketching—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —and to be, um, um, testing things out. So that's another window of time that I really like because of that. It feels like it gives us, um, another chance to start fresh, um—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —but to start fresh in a, a really speedy way, and the astrology of, like, the past couple of years has n— been nothing but slow. Yes. Yes. It's just been a lot of, like, really slow things kind of just, like, slowly churning us. And it seems like having Mars be so strong this year, we're really gonna ch— pick up the, the, the pace a little bit. So I like that.

Laura: Okay. So noted. End of 2027 is a good for starting fresh, trying new things. And, like, would someone look to where this is happening in their chart for context around, like, what might be good to start fresh with? Like, in terms of where this is falling in their houses of their chart, like how, what kind of activities it'd be good for? Is that right?

Joe G.: Yeah, exactly. Um, I, I think looking at, uh, where all these signs are. So Aries, um, Capricorn, Sagittarius, and Virgo. These four signs in your chart are, uh, can, can be really helpful. But I would also look to which of these planets might be, um, like situated in a really powerful way in your chart. And because there's so many of them involved, one of them is probably gonna be it. Um—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —so I would look to, like, let's say if you're Sagittarius rising, to maybe lean more on, uh, Jupiter and Virgo as l— like the, the archetype that you want to work with and the things that you want to—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —uh, be playing with. Or let's say—

Laura: Um.

Joe G.: —you're trying to, I don't know, meet new friends, and you're trying to find your crowd and find your people, and you see that, um, Mars in Capricorn is in your 11th house, then maybe you'll lean more on Mars. Uh, or let's say you want to start a creative project and you see that Saturn in Aries is in your fifth house. Maybe you want to work with Saturn in Aries, um, in that way or, or in that context. I think it's, it's very useful to compare and contrast the houses, um, but also looking to, to the planets, and planets that you naturally resonate with, um, can also be a good way to start that.

Laura: Mm. Amazing. All right. So as I mentioned earlier, uh, Joe wrote our electional report that we call Magic Dates. I think this is our fourth… No. I think it's the fourth one. Third year? Fourth year. Fourth year in a row that we've, we've done our Magic Dates report. It's, uh, a beloved product we have here, and it actually has a Google Calendar integration so you can see all these elections in your calendar, which I love so much.

So that is actually available to you now. So if you wanna go deep into this and think about the dates that Joe, um, has been talking about, really get the dates, the times, and what they're good for and not good for, uh, we have a very extensive report, uh, for 2027. And when you purchase the report this weekend bef— um, by the end of the day on Monday, you actually get some bonus elections for 2026, so you can start using this in November and December. I think we included two bonus, uh, elections for each month, and you'll get all the elections from last report.

Um, so if you wanna check that out, I highly recommend it. It's really easy to use. You don't have to know astrology to use this report. Um, Joe's done all that work for you. Um, but if you wanna check it out, you can go to astrologyhub.com/magic, um, and get that. And if you wanna just check it out and see if, um, if it's something that you'd use that, that opt-in gift, we had did a little pre— uh, free preview of it. Um, so you can download that for free at astrologyhub.com/magicgift, and get kind of like an overview of all the months. But if you want the dates, I highly recommend the dates. It's so cool to have them in your calendar 'cause I can just kind of like see what I'm having going on that day, and then see what the astrology available to me is.

Um, and I think in our la— in like a episode a while ago, Joe, you described electional astrology as like the free will portion of astrology—

Joe G.: Yeah. Uh-huh. Exactly.

Laura: —if I'm getting your words correctly.

Joe G.: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Laura: And, and I love that because it's not… It's, it's, it's about, like, using what's available to us versus, um, trying to dictate every, every little thing.

Joe G.: Yeah.

Laura: Um, so if you wanna check out the Magic Dates report, astrologyhub.com/magic. You get bonus elections this weekend only, um, so you can start using them in November and December. Um, is there anything noteworthy about the end of 2026, Joe, that might be interesting for people from an electional standpoint? Like anything they might wanna note?

Joe G.: Yeah. I think—

Laura: Hmm.

Joe G.: —I think the, the, the biggest thing that I was thinking about, and I even wrote it in the Magic Dates preview and the, the full Magic Dates, uh, like a, a bit of a summary for November and December, and what those months are good for in context with, uh, 2027. And I think that the biggest thing is getting ready for the Mars retrograde.

Um, but the, the things that we have available are, are still within that Leo sphere. It, it's all about—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —Jupiter and Leo and all that kind of stuff. So I think that a lot of the elections for the end of the year that we have are about, like, putting yourself out there, being bold—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —or, like, trying to, to, like, maybe squeeze in the last little bit of energy before, like, the, the celestial fuel kind of just goes down a little bit with Mars going retrograde. So I feel like it's, um, like November, December is, is, is really a good time to kind of, like, try to do as much as you can before things slow down for a period of time. Um—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —and especially towards the end of the year, um, because the end of the year is always so busy. So I think that it's good to just—

Laura: Yeah.

Joe G.: —try and, and juggle a, a little bit. Uh, c— can seem a little anxiety-inducing too, but I feel like there is more than enough, um, available for us to do that. Especially with Venus going back into Libra, uh—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —very soon, and the retro— the Venus retrograde ending. If we have to juggle, Venus and Libra is great for letting us know, like, what we should really be juggling and what maybe is not worth our time, uh—

Laura: Mm.

Joe G.: —just in the topic of values and things like that, and, like, achieving balance and, and, and all that. So I think that that's what we have available.

Laura: I love it. I love it. All right. There's still some magic left in 2026, even though we're in some pretty deep retrogrades. So, um, amazing. So if you wanna get those magic dates, they're available now. And in fact, if you wanna go deeper into electional astrology in general, as you can see, Joe is so knowledgeable about this. He actually teaches an Electional Astrology 101 class that it— when you buy your Magic Dates report, you'll have the opportunity to join at a discount.

Um, so if you wanna go deeper into this, there's an opportunity to do that as well. Um, I ha— have loved the course that you taught, Joe. Yeah. I, I've been watching it, and it's, it has been changing my mind around electional. I, I don't know why I've been this like, “I, I don't wanna try to control the weather,” you know? But the way you think about it, it's, it's so much more, um—

Joe G.: Ah.

Laura: —holistic, I guess.

Joe G.: Yeah. That makes me feel so good 'cause—

Laura: Yeah.

Joe G.: —I had the same problem that you're having 'cause I, I come from, like, a very deterministic astrology background. So I'm like, “Why is it that we even try to do elections if, like, we feel like if there could be, like, less agency in the world?” And then, um— w— w— the more I thought about this, the more I realized that even if there is no free will, the act of just experiencing life feels like free will enough. And if election astrology gives us a framework to make those choices from that sort of, like, free will place instead of thinking about how the astrology's gonna happen to us, uh, more so how we are gonna happen to the astrology—

Laura: Mm-hmm.

Joe G.: —then that, that to me was enough to, to make it a worthwhile venture. Yeah. Uh, even if, if we don't have a say on how things go in the end, I think that just f— feeling that, feeling that power, and feeling the ability to, to navigate life as it unfolds, I think that that's, that's all it's about.

Laura: Yeah. Yeah, that deterministic kind of astrology has always challenged me because I'm like, there's gotta be free will, right? Like, we can't live in a world where there's no free will. Like, that to me, that just, that makes my heart sink. Um, so yeah, I guess if it… If whatever floats your boat. And I, I mean, people have gotten many, many results from using electional astrology for, for certain things, so, um, there's definitely something to this here.

So, um, thank you so much, Joe. You are such a wealth of knowledge on this topic, and thank you for writing this report four years in a row with us. The community just loves it so much. Every year we hear from people that they love seeing it, and they love having it. So, um, if you wanna get that report, it's available now. This weekend only you can get some bonus elections to start using it right away, astrologyhub.com/magic. And if you wanna just get your feet wet, test it out a little bit, you can get the free, uh, guide where you get a monthly overview by going to astrologyhub.com/magicgift. Sorry. Magic gift.

Um, awesome. Well, Joe, thank you so much for having this conversation with me today. Thank you all for joining us live here on YouTube. So exciting to be doing more of these. And if you're listening to the recording, thank you as well. And thank you as always for making astrology a part of your life. We'll catch you on the next—
