Unfathomable potentials wait to be born in the depths of mind and soul under an Pisces New Moon.
But this is no ordinary lunation. A Total Solar Eclipse and a Supermoon infuse the call of the Fishes with an irresistible siren song.
How will you navigate these dark waters? Here's what astrologers sound the web suggestion.
Pisces New Moon
The new beginnings heralded by a Pisces New Moon tap into inspirations from our feelings, intuitions and soul-stirrings for guidance.
“Our dreams and imagination can act as a powerful portal to discovering healing insights and information. This is not a good time to attempt clarification through left-brain, logical, sequential thinking. Music and all forms of creative arts offer an expressive vehicle for feelings that are surfacing from this and past lifetimes including grief, sadness and elation.”
Margaret Gray, Psychological Astrology
Says Aeternalight Astrology:
This New Moon is “an invitation to ease into this fresh cosmic cycle with Wu Wei — the same unfeigned, non-volitional aptitude – blending with the natural rhythm of the Universe, aligning with the part of ourselves that trusts the currents.
“Very often, while we strive to make progress through struggle and resistance, allowing the Ego-based attachment to the outcomes to drain our energy, we are only creating way bigger blockages and setbacks than the ones we think we’re fighting against.
“The wisdom of Tao, with its image of the Universe as a dynamic, balanced whole in perpetual, natural motion, teaches us that the natural order of things keeps unfolding, with our without our egoic compulsions.”
Total Solar Eclipse
The power of this Pisces lunation is intensified since Sun, Moon and Earth are perfectly aligned — a Total Solar Eclipse.
A Total Solar Eclipse is one of the greatest shows on Earth. As the Moon passes between Earth and Sun, she blocks out the Sun's light until only a brilliant coronal circle remains. Day turns into night, and stars wake from their slumber.
Occurring twice annually, solar eclipses herald accelerated change for those in the path, as well as those who have natal planets or angles near the sensitive eclipse degrees.
(That’s 18 degrees Pisces for this one… if you don't know how that fits into your chart, check out our new charts and reports service for some guidance. But if you want to see it, you'll have to travel to Indonesia or the South Pacific.)
The keys for this Pisces eclipse: Have faith and trust the process.
“Solar Eclipses symbolically represent the moment of darkness we are plunged into before a major birth of some part of our inner self. It is the time when our unconscious lunar emotions arise from deep within our unconscious, thereby obscuring our conscious solar light.
“All we have at that moment is faith and trust that something as yet unknown, will emerge into light and consciousness to be birthed in the days, weeks and months following the Eclipse.”
Margaret Gray, Psychological Astrology
“The total blackness helps, not hurts, our ability to see deeper into ourselves and life’s mysteries than if we had light obstructing our view, blining us. What can you find searching around in pitch blackness that you could not ordinarily find?”
“There are fewer barriers at this Pisces New Moon Solar Eclipse keeping us tied to the everyday world we instinctively know is a fraud, a waste of our higher potentials. Soul wisdom that has been kept in the dark can now be seen as a direct result of the darkness, of stepping out of our own way.”
“If I truly let go of my will and ego, who or what shows up? This eclipse is an opportunity to engage in the contemplation of what it means to surrender to Divine Will. When I drop my agenda of what I think is supposed to happen, then something new emerges. Listen.”
The influence of an eclipse doesn't occur overnight. Instead, they manifest over time. Explains astrologer Jamie Patridge of AstrologyKing:
“The horoscope for a new moon or solar eclipse is like a snap shot in time, but like old style photography, it takes time to develop. This solar eclipse will remain active until the next solar eclipse in September 2016. As the eclipse cycle progresses, planetary aspects to the eclipse degree will mark more active times when events relating to the eclipse will likely unfold. The strongest of these being Mercury on the eclipse degree on March 15 and Venus on March 27.”
Solar eclipse occur near the Moon's North or South Nodes. As a South Node eclipse, this lunation encourages us to “meet challenges fearlessly for the good of the whole.”
Supermoon
This Solar Eclipse/New Moon draws added potency since it occurs while the Moon is closer to the Earth than usual. These lunations near perigee are known as a Supermoon, since the Moon appears larger in the sky during these moments — not to mention her super-sized effects on tides and other lunar-governed phenomenon..
The astrologer Richard Nolle coined the term Supermoon 30 years ago; it's the first astrologically inspired term to be adopted by the scientific community since Johannes Kepler.
Says Nolle of a Supermoon New Moon: “It’s as if they have an instinctive agenda that nothing will derail them from.” (For the curious, you can read the rest of an interview with Richard Nolle on the Astrology Hub website.)
Tempered by Jupiter & Saturn
The Pisces New Supermoon Total Solar Eclipse falls precisely opposite Jupiter in Virgo. Both the New Moon and Jupiter are forming a tense square angle to Saturn in Sagittarius. Not matter how far out you want to get, these two giants are straining to keep you grounded
“With Jupiter in Virgo, your wish or your vision has got to make sense. And with Saturn involved, you’ll probably have to commit, at the very least. And there may be hard work and perseverance required in order to manifest this thing you can imagine.”
“The dissonant aspect to Saturn is a reminder that we’re tasked with working within existing limits, confronting our sense of deprivation in order to rise above it. [We must turn] the current limitations to our agency in our own favor, as they can allow us to synchronize our timepiece with that of the Universe.”
Clues from Chiron & Ceres
Chiron is a minor body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, which astrologers have come to associate with the archetype of the “wounded healer.”
“To the Greeks, Chiron was the wise Centaur who brought astrology to humanity. To Christians he is Jesus Christ who counted the number of the stars and called names to all of them. Both were healers of wounded souls who used natural methods like hands on healing, herbs and the power of the mind.
“Think of all the healing techniques you can that start with the word chiro, the Greek word for hands. Even palm reading is termed chiromancy. Chiron was not part of the establishment and he mingled with other outcasts. He was seen as maverick who used unorthodox methods to heal others and promote spiritual enlightenment.”
Jamie Partridge, AstrologyKing
“The conjunction with Chiron and the South Node implies a confrontation with the most sensitive, sore areas of our Soul, in order to clear emotional wounds and restore our wholeness; the opposition to Jupiter (and the North Node), on the other hand, seems to indicate that acknowledging our losses can set us up for future gains. “
The Eclipse also occurs with the minor planet/asteroid Ceres. You may know Ceres as Demeter, the great mother goddess who searches deperately for her abducted daughter Persephone, made famous by the celebration of the Eleusinian Mysteries in Greece for more than a 1,000 years.
“This eclipse with bring into the collective themes of sudden great gain or loss which forces growth. Pain is involved for those separated from their family for any reason.
“In the collective wounded adult children may speak out how they feel scarred, betrayed or tainted by some family scandal, inheritance or ancestral trait. Those touched by this Solar Eclipse may feel the effects of an overly-cosseted childhood which leaves them ill equipped to deal with the gritty reality of the big wide world.”
Marina Marcario, Darkstar Astrology
It's a time to let go and heal thyself of grief and pain. Release and allow yourself to move on.
A Master Instructing His Disciple
The Sabian symbol for the degree of the New Moon is “A master instructing his disciple.” Dane Rudhyar associates with a degree of initiation or investiture.
Margaret Gray reflects:
“The word ‘disciple’ conjures up images of someone who is seeking to learn all they can from the ‘Master.’ Often this is used in connection with religious and philosophical leaders.
“One of the possible meanings for this Symbol is that the Eclipse presents us with an ‘instruction’ from something greater than us.
“It reinforces the North Node conjunct Jupiter in Virgo reminder that our journey is about being of service to ourselves and others through learning and teaching. It may also be a reminder to check carefully which ‘Master’ we are following – is it our heart or our ego?”
Summing It Up
The Pisces New Moon — intensified by a Total Solar Eclipse and Supermoon — offers an almost irresistible urge to merge with your depths to start a process of healing and renewal. Carry the wisdom of your underwater journey back to the mundane world over the next six months, and you will have done your work.
