Taurus Weekly Horoscope | August 12th – August 18th 2024
You’ll be surprised to discover this week that people aren’t as on board with a decision as you were led to believe. In fact, they may pepper you with grievances that they didn’t feel like they could share before or accuse you of railroading them into positions they didn’t want to take. As a Taurus, you can be heavy-handed when it comes to pushing through a solution you think will work—especially when others are being wishy-washy. However, the retrograde Mercury/Uranus square on August 18th insists that you revisit the situation and be open to considerations you didn’t take seriously the first time.

As a Sagittarius, you’re pretty accommodating. That’s because you were born under a mutable sign, and mutable signs are flexible. However, even you will be pushed past your limit when Mars forms a square to Saturn on August 16th. You’ve done everything you could to try to make a relationship or association succeed, and now it’s time to ask this person if they really want to be with you. Chances are the answer will be what you suspected all along, but instead of feeling bad, you’ll be relieved. That’s because it’s exhausting trying to make things work with someone who doesn’t want to be there.

Mars conjunct Jupiter on August 14th brings out your inner prankster. It’s been a while since you had some fun at somebody else’s expense, and you know just the person to punk. Comedy is the revenge of the abused—look at all the stand-up comedians who were bullied in childhood—but sometimes things go too far when Mars is involved. Mars can’t help adding a cruel twist to the jest, which is why you’ll be surprised when you’re called out on the 16th. But take a moment to ask if what you did was truly meant in fun? You may discover it’s not altogether true.

Scorpios are typically tight-fisted except when it comes to their obsessions. If you’re fixated on something, then money is no object. You’ll spend whatever it takes to procure and possess. This lends itself to people as well, which is why many a Scorpion has gone into debt bankrolling a ne’er-do-well heartthrob or dreamy-eyed romantic who can’t hold down a job. On August 14th, Mars conjoins Jupiter before squaring Saturn two days later. This is when that person you’d do anything for comes to you for another handout, and you really must say “no.” You can’t afford to continue the habit—both emotionally and financially.

Retreating from a confrontation by acting like you don’t know what a loved one is talking about isn’t the way to go. You’re only putting off for tomorrow a conversation you should be having today. It’s hard playing the Saturn role in a Mars/Saturn square on August 16th because you can’t help feeling defensive, but it’s up to you to lower the deflector shields and open all hailing frequencies. What you get in return is an honest exchange where the other side shares grievances while taking responsibility for their part in the matter. Do the same, and you’ll mend a bridge that’s been in disrepair too long.

Mars and Jupiter traveling together in the sky is emboldening. Not only are you ready to pursue your aspirations, but you have the follow-through to realize them. This is not going to go over well with people who are accustomed to your chronic vacillation. They don’t like this new, more focused “you,” and they’ll try to put you in your place. The end result is that you may have to review some of your associations. Libras don’t like ending things, but since you won’t be retreating to your old ways anytime soon, it looks like some friendships and acquaintances may be falling by the wayside.

Everyone has an ego—even a selfless Virgo. Your ego is like the Sun. It sits at the center of your own psychological solar system, generating that core feeling of self that keeps things like your intellect, spirit, appetites, and emotions from hurtling off into space. It’s prideful, but it’s also authentic. Weeks ago, you did something that didn’t feel like you. Maybe you backpedaled or sidestepped when you should have stepped up. On August 14th, you will have a chance to make things right. You may have to eat some humble pie as a result, but at least you’ll be able to live with yourself.

It’s not like an Aquarian to trumpet their accomplishments. If anything, you’ll do the exact opposite. You often deflect attention by downplaying your successes and praising a group effort instead. However, there comes a time when you have to talk about what you’ve achieved if you don’t want to continue being overlooked or experience people taking credit for what you’ve done, and that time is August 14th, when Mars conjoins Jupiter in Gemini. You may feel embarrassed and even a bit tacky talking about yourself, but once you receive the recognition and praise you deserve, it will be impossible to ever be so deferential again.

We’re all guilty of saying things are OK when they’re not. Maybe it’s to keep the peace, avoid confronting a difficult situation, or put off bringing up a contentious issue in hopes that a certain someone will come to their senses. Retrograde Mercury square Uranus on August 18th promises to blow the lid off all that. To say you’ll be “losing it” is an understatement. You’ll be shocked as much as anyone else by your outburst, but you’ll also be relieved to finally express the resentment that’s been building. However, the bigger surprise may be the other party asking, “What took you so long?”

Creativity is often fueled by heartbreak. Whether it’s a means of expressing something incommunicable, a way of coping, or a soulful response to a wrenching loss, creativity springs from this rich soil. The First Quarter Moon in Scorpio on August 12th shows that this is the time to build something from your pain—be it past or present—because what you’ve experienced resonates with what people are going through. One of the great lessons that Cancer has to teach is that a broken heart doesn’t stay broken. Like the Moon in its cycle, it emerges from the darkness to love again.

There’s no denying that there’s a rambunctious quality to the Mars/Jupiter conjunction on August 14th. That’s because Jupiter is exuberant by nature and can’t help but enliven the energies of any planet it’s near. One becomes more daring, loud, and boisterous when Jupiter is next to Mars, and given that they are both traveling through the zodiac sign of Gemini, baiting. This is all right as long as it’s in the spirit of fun, but Mars, when aroused, has a tendency to take things too far. It’s not unlike a child in a classroom who—emboldened by a prank—tries to outdo himself. Whatever the joke, stunt, or escapade, things look like they’ll get out of hand, which will result in a slapdown courtesy of the Mars/Saturn square on August 16th. How severe this will be all depends on taking responsibility. Come clean with what happened, and you’ll get off with a light reprimand; pin the blame on somebody else, and things will only get harder.

People often get imperious when Jupiter is traveling through their zodiac sign. It can’t be helped. Back in the day, Jupiter was known as the planet of emperors, and emperors collected kings (and their kingdoms) like a corporation acquires companies. This can bring an inflated sense of self, which isn’t good. Geminis are the ones who make fun of people, not the other way around. If you find that roles have changed recently, then this might be a good time to climb down off that perch and get back in touch with the regular folk. Otherwise, like Humpty-Dumpty, you could be in for a tumble.
