Hello, my name is Christopher Renstrom and I'm your weekly horoscope columnist here on Astrology Hub. And this time, I wanted to talk to you about Mars coming out of retrograde on February 23rd, and what it means now that Mars is moving direct in the sky.

Now, as I just said, Mars came out of retrograde and the zodiac sign of cancer on February 23rd, 2025. Mars first turned retrograde on December 6th, 2024, and the zodiac sign of Leo. Now what you might have just noticed about what I said is that Mars has been traveling through two zodiac signs. In other words, if Mars turned retrograde in Leo in December of 2024, it has retrograde it back down from Leo into the sign that comes before Leo in the zodiac, which is the zodiac sign of cancer.

Now, retrogrades with planets don't always take place between two zodiac signs. There is 30 degrees that are attributed to each zodiac sign. You multiply that by the number of signs, which is 12, and you get 360 degrees, 360 degrees makes up a circle, which is the zodiac all wheel. So Mars, usually if it turns retrograde in a sign more retrograde back down a number degrees still on the same sign, stop and then move forward again.

But in this particular instance, Mars turned retrograde in the early degrees of Leo six degrees Leo, to be precise. And so it retrograde it back down into the zodiac sign of cancer on January 6th. So what does that mean for those of us who are following these sorts of things? It's significant because of the involvement of two signs.

In other words, whatever was resolved in one sign as an action or a decision, or, way to go with a plan or an endeavor can be overturned when Mars retrogrades back down into the previous sign. So it's kind of like, okay, it's kind of like an incoming presidential administration deciding to overturn what was decided by the previous presidential administration.

In other words, what you may have noticed around January 6th is whatever you had decided to do, felt was a course of action and endeavor. Maybe you were beginning a project or some sort of enterprise that was reversed, when Mars changed signs. So that's why it's always a good idea to pay close attention to planets when they're retrograde in between zodiac signs.

So what is Mars retrograde? Mars in astrology, was named after the Roman god of war. So Mars is the planet of gumption and drive. Mars is the planet that takes action. Mars is the planet that's going to fight for what you want. Basically, Mars is going to do whatever you tell it to do. In your own astrological chart.

It's almost like it's looking to you for orders. So Mars is being the planet of gumption and drive, being the planet that takes action. A planet that's associated with passion and with anger and with fighting. Well, when Mars turns retrograde and you have to remember that a retrograde is a backwards motion of a planet, an apparent backwards motion of a planet would be a more accurate way of describing it.

What happens during this period of time is that the planet does an about face. Instead of moving through the zodiacal degrees that I just described. It has stopped in the sky and started moving backwards. So it's done an about face. So if Mars is the planet of I want that and I'm going to do whatever I have to do in order to get it.

When it turns retrograde, it loses that gumption, that loses that drive. It's it's not sure that it wants that to where it's not sure that it's going to make the sacrifices that it would need to make in order to achieve its goal. It's not sure if it's got the fight. It may be feeling more of the flight when it comes to an obstacle or some sort of difficulty.

So Mars loses its thrust. Mars loses its attack. Mars loses its single minded focus when it turns retrograde, and actually starts looking around for a means to, get out of whatever confrontation it might be involved in. Whatever commitment it might have made, whatever promise it might have sworn to back someone else up. All of a sudden, retrograde Mars has lost its nerve and its verve, and it's looking to get out of the very thing that it said it was going to go and take care of.

So what happens when Mars comes out of retrograde? That means it's moved back down a number of degrees. It's stopped in the sky, and now it's moving forward again. What happens when Mars comes out of retrograde, like it did on February 23rd, is all of a sudden you feel that oomph, all of a sudden you feel that desire.

All of a sudden you feel like, okay, I can do this. You know, you've regained your gumption and drive. You've regained your motivation, and you've regained to our momentum. And so you're ready to reverse the reverse. Okay, if there was something that, you felt like you weren't big enough to take on or you weren't prepared to really wrestle with, this is a period of time where you have rethought it and where you have revisited your decision.

And now and now you feel back online. Now you want to make up for that lost time. Now you want to take on that that fight that you, avoided before. And that can be because you've rediscovered your gumption and drive. Mars is now direct in the sky, but it can also be because circumstances have improved circumstances the way that they looked when Mars turned retrograde in, December of 2020 for train signs in January 6th circumstance is now may have improved in such a way as you're ready to do the thing that you originally went ahead and resolved to do.

Let's say you're born under the zodiac sign of Aries, or you have Aries rising in your chart. This Mars retrograde is going to be very important to you because Mars is your ruling planet. That means Mars is your patron saint. Mars is your corporate sponsor, your den mother, and your life coach. Okay, so Mars is always fighting on your side in order to get the things done that need to be done.

When Mars turned retrograde in Leo and reentered the zodiac sign of cancer in early January, not only did you experience a drop in resolve, blurriness of focus, of feeling like you can't really achieve the things that you want to achieve, but you might have also entered into some issue with your own father, or even the idea of fathering, or someone who plays the role of a father in your life.

This could even be perhaps an authority figure. You might have felt in some way with Mars retrograde back down into the zodiac sign of cancer, that, it was time to revisit something that you had done. It was time to revisit some sort of resolve or agreement that might not have sat well with you originally. Maybe you had spoken ill of your father, or you were on the outs with your father.

Maybe you had, groused about an employer or a client. Maybe you had even made a rash decision. To be very abrupt, maybe even disciplinarian with a loved one. You know, you might have taken a very strong stance. Maybe a loved one wasn't acting in the way that you felt that they should be acting or wasn't maybe even showing you proper respect.

And so you were now going to lay down the law, and you were now going to say, what? What is what with this particular loved one. And because of the retrograde, whatever action you took at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025, it didn't sit well with you. Maybe there was a briskness to it. Maybe there was a disrespect to it.

Maybe what felt good in the moment left you wondering what the hell was I doing later on? Okay, so. So this is something in which there has been, some sort of remorse. There were some sort of regret of what has gone. Gone down so that when Mars came out of retrograde on February 23rd, you may have felt very resolved to make things right.

Now, to make things right is something that sits well and doesn't sit well with an Aries. Okay, Aries, because it's Mars ruled is very action forward. You know, this is this is the action I took him deal with it. You know, a type of thing. And so the idea that Aries has to change that action, it it sort of doesn't sit with an Aries.

Well. And the reason why it doesn't sit with an Aries well is because it shows weakness. It shows that you were wrong to have done what you did before. Now, if this were a matter of self-sacrifice or falling on your sword, you'd be fine. Aries is all into those sorts of things. But to admit that you were wrong doesn't come from having to be right.

Admitting to what you to that you were wrong really shows weakness. Really shows that that you acted in a weak or a bad way. And that's something that Aries can really struggle with. And so this is something you're going to be struggling with probably between, the February 23rd, maybe even into March. And that might be around the period of time that you resolve.

Okay. I've got to be bigger than that. I have to take responsibility for my action. I have to, I have to apologize. If an apology is what is, required of you. Or maybe I, sidestepped something earlier. You know, I avoided a confrontation or a fight, and now I'm feeling like, you know, strong about my feelings again.

Well, when Mars reenters the zodiac sign of Leo, which is a fire sign just like Aries is a fire sign. That's where you're going to find the courage to do what should have been done all along. If it's the courage to apologize or to ask someone's forgiveness. This is when you're going to find that courage. If it's the courage to do something that you felt that you should have done and you didn't.

This is when you're going to find that courage. But again, it's going to be associated to the father figure in some sort of sense. It could be your actual father, could be, the way that you, father yourself. But in any case, now that, Mars is moving forward in Leo, which is going to be apt after April 18th.

This might be the time that you receive the blessing from your father, or an authority figure or client where they say, you know, that's okay, or, it wasn't great, but let's move forward. This might be where, where, where you receive that, or it may very well be the time when you give that to yourself. If you're born under Taurus or you have Taurus rising with Mars now moving forward in the sky, you may regret that loss of nerve that you suffered in December of 2024.

That might have been when you bent the knee. That might have been when you acquiesced. That might have been when you yielded to a power that was stronger than yourself, or a power that you thought was stronger than yourself. That might actually be more of an accurate description. In any case, it's embarrassing and you may feel ashamed about having relented, about not having stood your ground, about not having said that something was wrong when you saw that it was wrong.

You might feel bad about having looked the other way. Let something go. Said something was all right when it wasn't. Now, in my previous description of Aerie is wrestling with Mars coming out of retrograde. I talked a lot about regret and remorse and the problem that Aries has with regret and remorse is that it shows weakness. With Taurus, the problems are a bit different.

Taurus is a fixed sign. The fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, and the fixed signs are rather famous for having a problem with apologizing. All right, now it's not necessarily pride or because they think that they're right. It's just that there's a shame about having done something wrong, and a feeling that they don't want other people to find out.

And so they just kind of want to sweep that incident under the rug. Okay. The fixed signs are called fixed for a reason. All of the fixed signs, as I said, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are stubborn and they're resistant and they don't like to apologize. That has nothing to do with being perceived as weak or ineffectual. What it has to do is that apologizing is just what can I say?

Apologizing isn't something that they can do easily, and they often don't. Indeed, learning how to say, I'm sorry is a big deal for the fixed signs, especially for Taurus. Now, it's interesting. A Taurus will take responsibility for what they did. They will, they will hold themselves accountable. But you won't hear the apology. Not in many, many cases.

So this period of time between now and April 4th. Taurus. Now that Mars is moving forward in the zodiac sign of cancer and cancer, a water sign forms a sextile to your own sign, which is of the element of earth, water and earth. Get one another. During this period of time, it may be more reflective for you. You may realize that you know you you did.

Do damage by relenting, by giving in, by yielding, by acquiescing. And that that wasn't a good thing to do. And now you're you're full of sort of bad feelings about that guilt for having done that. So what's going to be very important because these sorts of about faces take a while with fixed signs like Taurus, is that you're going to be in a process of coming clean with yourself, which will probably be settled somewhere around April 4th when Mars forms, sextile to Uranus and then forms of trying to Saturn both on the same day.

This sextile to Uranus and Saturn is wonderful because there's a sort of emotional realism that's, involved when Mars is in a water sign and sextile, Uranus is in an Earth sign like it is right now, and trine Saturn in the water sign, which is in the zodiac sign in Pisces. This is sort of emotional realism. There's an emotional acceptance and so this may trigger, this may coincide with the time where you're more in a headspace and a heart space to say, I did wrong.

And I actually need to make some sort of public announcement about this. And I need to do. Right, by the people I let down. All right. So this may be something which you resolve to do around April 4th. Now, this could wind up or result in a major change in your position on April 18th, when Mars, the planet of gumption and drive, enters the zodiac sign of Leo.

In other words, not only do you apologize and you want to make it right, but on April 18th, you're committed to the action of making right, or perhaps maybe even your apologizing and reversing of a position of deciding not to exceed, of deciding not to yield. That may cause some trouble and some consternation for you. And that could occur as early as April 20th, when Mars forms a square to the sun in the sky.

That will be Mars, and Leo will form a square to the sun. In Taurus. That's your own sign. This is a fixed square, and this could put you in the crosshairs of an individual of a very powerful individual or very, domineering type of personality. And so in which the person is trying to make you back down or to go back to your previous position and you may resist, in fact, being a fixed sign, you probably will resist so that on April 26th, when Mars forms an opposition to Pluto, there may be a very real split.

There may be a very real parting of ways. Now, that doesn't mean that you walk out on someone per se, or they walk out on you, but it may mean that you've gone down on the record as, being on the opposite side of someone that you had acceded to, that you had yielded to before. This leads to a very, powerful, mars-uranus square on June 15th.

And this may bring about a complete reversal of what I've talked about when you wind up surprising everybody, including yourself. And what may happen here is that an action in which you were just, you know, going to resist someone all of a sudden becomes a very open resistance on that June 15th, and there may be a cost or there may be some repercussions for you to face, but at least you know, at least you know that you finally did the right thing.

If you're born into Gemini or you have Gemini Rising, this period of time that Mars is in, cancer can be challenging for you financially. Either money has been burning a hole in your pocket, or you've been perhaps a bit too aggressive when it comes to laying claims to territory that didn't originally belong to you. Maybe you're horning in on someone's turf.

Maybe you're seizing on a deal in a very aggressive way. That's leaving someone else feeling very dismayed, or maybe even regretful that they entered into this negotiation with you. Now, this money issue, probably was starting, around the end of 2024, and then it became much more prominent in January so that now that Mars is out of retrograde, you may be feeling either the necessity to continue on this course of action, or you may be feeling the approval to continue on this course of action, that it's that it's gotten you, that you've made progress with it, you've made you've you've gotten somewhere with it.

And now and now you want to, achieve the result. So, as I said, if it's necessity that's pushing you forward, money burning a hole in your pocket, you may be feeling under some stress or, desperate circumstances, or you may be feeling that this is the time to go in for the kill, to seal the deal, and to make the headways that you plan to, to make.

Now, during this period of time when Mars is out of retrograde and it's moving through the degrees of cancer, it doesn't reenter Leo until April 18th. You're being given a chance to maybe revisit, renegotiate, or rethink this endeavor. And the reason why I'm talking about that is sometimes we can get so caught up in a preset goal that we have that we don't really take into account the impact that it's having on the other person.

We don't really usually think of that in our transactional relationships. If someone is selling something, we bought it. That's it. Buy or or if we're selling some something, someone has bought it from us and and goodbye. And and there might not be much, more to do after that initial transaction, but the way that you negotiate a deal, the way that you set up a sale or any sort of exchange, whether it's an exchange of favors, good feelings or monies, it needs to be done with respect.

It needs to be done with respect, with, a feeling of of where the other person is with it. And, and hopefully, will result in something in which both parties feel really good about this. As I said, Mars, because of the way that it's angled in your chart right now, may not be taking into account. Well, what's a better way of putting it?

Mars may not be reading the room that well right now. It may be all into let's, you know, seal this deal, and it may not be taking into account that the other person's feeling very uncomfortable with it and maybe even resentful. Now, during this period of time, as I said, there's going to be, opportunity to revisit, renegotiate, rethink, maybe soften the deal or make it more appealing for both sides.

But on April 4th, when we have the Mars Uranus sextile, which coincides with the trying to Saturn, this would be a good time to face hard truths about maybe your business style or or how you procure the things that you want. You might find yourself involved in a situation that is deteriorating or is not turning out well.

And and so again, you may have to move very quickly to bring it to an end. And if that's the case, then it would be a good idea to bring this, sale or this transaction to some sort of end. And probably the best date is going to be April 4th. Now, that might entail you to cut costs in some way or to, suffer some sort of devaluation of what it is that you were dealing with.

And if that's the case, but if that's what's required for you to bring things in for landing, then then that's the day to do it, because you'll you'll get off lightly with it. Now, if you want to continue down this road, maybe this has become your new style of business. Or maybe you're involved in a, project or a business situation that's larger than just one episode.

You know, in other words, you are giving them an opportunity to bring things to an end and maybe go back to the way that you came. But if you've decided to continue with, pursuing a particular endeavor or pursuing a particular enterprise, you need to be forewarned that, after April 18th, the road is going to get tough.

It's going to get, a bit more challenging. Now I'm not saying that it's a bad idea to continue with the endeavor or enterprise that you're involved in. Geminis are actually famous for improvising on the spot, but you're going to have to ask yourself, are you up to the challenges that you're going to be facing? You might be dealing with larger amounts of money.

You might be dealing with a prolonged relationship or association, and or it may be even something as simple as that. There's a lot of cleanup that needs to be done. But in any case, you're going to be facing some very stark challenges on April 20th and April 26th. And so you might really feel like you're out of your element with this.

Or maybe you've bitten off more than you can chew. But the other way that I do have to read this for you, Gemini, is that Mars and Leo? Because after April 18th, Mars will be in the zodiac sign of Leo. Mars and Leo does form a sextile to Gemini. Leo is a fire sign. Gemini is an air sign.

Sextile is a very enabling, encouraging type of energy. And so you actually could take in a bigger amount if you want to, but you're going to have to ask yourself if this is a gamble that you're willing to take. Things aren't going to be assured during this period, but if you use your wits and if you use your inventiveness, and if you use your skills at Improvization, you might find yourself winding up with a bigger haul than the one that you had initially set your sights on.

If you're born under the zodiac sign of cancer or you have cancer rising Mars, the planet of gumption and drive, is always a bit of a mixed bag for you. That's because Mars is said to be in its fall when it's traveling through the zodiac sign of cancer. It's this idea of planetary dignity. Mars is at home in the zodiac.

Signs of areas in Scorpio. It's out of its depth or element in the zodiac signs of Taurus and Libra, it's exalted, meaning most celebrated when it's in the zodiac sign of Capricorn and it's informal, meaning it's having a lot of problems and a lot of trouble when it's traveling through the zodiac sign of cancer. Now, this idea of fall or of of cancers having difficulty with Mars and its sign comes from not being able to measure the strength of Mars itself.

If you're born under cancer or you have cancer rising, since Mars entered your zodiac sign, which was near the end of 2024, you've been having these questions about aggressiveness. Okay. You've been asking, am I coming on too strong or am I not coming on strong enough? Okay, this is something that cancers always wrestle with when Mars is moving through their zodiac sign, and then it becomes exacerbated when Mars turns retrograde like it did at the end of 2024.

Now, as I said, Mars is said to be in fall and the zodiac sign of cancer, and there have been different theories about that. Maybe it's because, cancer is seen as being too soft, and it and and it doesn't like being Martian. You know, it doesn't like being rough and tough and aggressive. The planets. Usually what dictates planetary strength is the planets that spend a longer time in a zodiac sign tend to be stronger than the ones who move more quickly through a zodiac sign.
