Transcript
Hello, my name is Christopher Renstrom, and I'm your weekly horoscope columnist here on Astrology Hub. And this time, I wanted to talk to you about Uranus forming a sextile to Neptune on July fifteenth, followed by Uranus forming a trine to Pluto on July eighteenth.
What is a Modern Planet?
Now, this might sound like it's weeks away, and it is. But modern planets being modern planets often means that the changes they bring start happening long before they move into alignment. Now, what is a modern planet? A modern planet is any planet that was discovered after seventeen eighty-one. Those planets are Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Modern planets were originally regarded as being impersonal and generational.
For instance, everyone born within a given period might very well have Uranus in Capricorn or Neptune in Aquarius. It didn't affect you individually because everyone had that same planet. But as I discovered practicing astrology, the modern planets do affect you individually because they impact the culture that you live in.
The modern planets can create this feeling that what's happening in the world is bigger than you and somehow inevitable. But that's only because the modern planets take such a long time to move through just one zodiac sign. In fact, the modern planets aren't inevitable. Now, it's true that things change, and we live in a world where we worry about the end of democracy, global warming, and AI taking away our jobs, and these things are indeed happening globally. But you still have a life to live, a life that belongs to you, and a life that is an expression of your own unique spirit.
You have to work with these forces in the context of who you are. You can't hold your breath and wait for the influence of these modern planets to pass, mostly because these planetary energies will be active for several years, any more than you can allow yourself to be carried away by them. So you have to learn to adapt, to acclimate yourself to the modern planet energies, to grow and to evolve.
Now, for some signs, like the earth and water signs, this will be more of a challenge. You may feel like you're running to catch up to events that are already in play. While for other signs, like the air and fire signs, you will feel like you are finally back in your element.
Uranus, Neptune & Pluto Explained
So what does Uranus represent? Discovered in the year seventeen eighty-one at the midpoint between the American War for Independence and the French Revolution, Uranus represents revolution and change in an astrological chart.
So what is Neptune? Discovered in eighteen forty-six around the time of the invention of photography and the advent of spiritualism in the United States of America, Neptune represents what I yearn for. Neptune is all about illusion and disillusionment. That sounds a bit negative until you realize that any vision that we have of a better future or a better way of living or the sort of person that we want to fall in love with one day, these are based on a vision. These are based on hopes and wishes, and these are the things that Neptune rules over.
And then finally, Pluto. Pluto was discovered in the year nineteen thirty at the midpoint between the beginning of World War I and the end of World War II, around the time that nuclear fission was discovered. So Pluto brought in the Atomic Age, and in keeping with that idea, Pluto is the planet of ordeals and the transformations that arise from them.
And now that you've got a basic idea of what each one of these planets represents, let's go ahead and talk about how this Uranus sextile to Neptune, and then its trine to Pluto, is going to affect each of the 12 zodiac signs.
Hi, friends. I'm just jumping in here to let you know that Amanda Walsh's new book, Life by the Stars, is out now. This story is her deeply personal memoir about a 16-year journey of how she ultimately found Astrology Hub. And woven throughout the story are astrologer's notes by Natasha Alter that detail the astrological transits she was going through as the story unfolds. It is now available on Amazon and other major retailers, but when you buy direct through lifebythestars.com, you have access to immersive experiences, exciting book packages, and the exclusive audiobook narrated by Natasha and Amanda themselves. All right. Now back to the episode.
Aries
Now, if you're born under Aries or you have Aries rising, the planet that you're contending with these days is Neptune being in your own zodiac sign. Neptune, as I just said, is the planet of what I yearn for. It's the planet of illusion and disillusionment. So how is that going to manifest in your own life?
One of the ways that it can manifest in your own life is this feeling that you're adrift, that all of a sudden you don't really know what you want, that you're kind of in this limbo between one place and another, either literally or at least metaphorically. So when you have Neptune traveling through your own zodiac sign, you can suddenly feel invisible, that people are looking right through you, and that they don't have a real sense of who you are. And of course, this is compounded by your own feeling of being lost and being unrecognized.
Now, that's probably not what's really going on in your life. Neptune has a tendency to glamorize whatever zodiac sign it's moving through. And so in your case, you might actually be coming across to people as being very sure-footed, as being confident, as someone who knows exactly what they're doing or where they're going. And this might get a little frustrating because you might turn to loved ones and friends, and you might say to them, “Well, that's great that you think that I come across that way, but actually, that's not the way I feel. I feel like I'm lost. I feel like I'm betwixt and between. I feel very confused.”
And then your loved ones and friends may respond to you with like, “Oh, that's a passing thing. You're never lost. You're never confused. You always know what you're doing. You're just going through a bad spell. Maybe you're a little depressed or overly reflective. But you know what? You'll soon regain your momentum and get yourself back on the right track. I believe in you. You can conquer any sort of challenge that you face.”
And so as you can sort of think about this idea, you can kind of feel not really connected to these things in your life because Neptune, named after the Roman god of the sea, can make you feel adrift. But at the same time, people are seeing someone who's confident, who knows what they're doing. So you're not getting a lot of support there. You're not getting a lot of recognition there, and that might make you feel even more alone.
Now, if we were just talking about Neptune here, then you would probably have a problem. You would probably feel like, “Wow, I'm really adrift. I don't really know what I'm doing. How long is this feeling going to go on? I really don't like it, okay?” But during this period of time that I'm talking about, July 15th to July 18th, Neptune will be forming a sextile to Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini. And what this is going to do is that this is going to give you a sudden feeling of having an idea or a place to go.
You might not have the clearest idea of what it is. In fact, the feeling may be more along the lines of like, this is an exciting and invigorating time for you. You know, that all of a sudden you get this spark of energy. It's kind of like, I don't know, the caffeine kicking in or something along those lines. And so you might all of a sudden feel like, “I've got something to say. I've got a really good idea. I suddenly know what I can do to make things happen.”
And again, this is gonna be the closer we get to July 15th. And hopefully you do have an idea, a proposal, or a venture in mind because this is indeed the perfect time to pitch it. And if you haven't anything in the works, it might be a good idea to come up with something, even if you have to make it up on the spot, because an auspicious sextile between Neptune and Uranus on July 15th shows that whatever kite you choose to fly will surely soar. It's rare when you get to be on the right side of planetary energies, as you will during this period of time, and you'll want to make the best of it. And by the way, the more audacious and the more far-fetched your dreams, the better.
And that's something that I want to maybe unpack a little bit more for you. The whole idea here is that all you have to do is have that spark of genius. All you have to do is have that idea, all right? That vision of wanting to do something, and then all you have to do is act on it. Maybe you present it, maybe you meet with a seller, maybe you meet with a backer, maybe you start advertising in some sort of way to clients and customers. This period of time, like I said, is like a kite being borne aloft. It will definitely take off.
The other thing that's happening here with Uranus forming a sextile to you is that Uranus is also forming a trine to Pluto in the sky, and this is going to bring about changes in your lifestyle, and it's gonna bring about changes in the people you know. Remember when I was saying earlier in this forecast that the people around you are like, “Oh, you know, don't get so moody. Don't feel so blue. You always pull yourself up by the bootstraps and figure out what to do,” or, “You'll come up with something.” Well, just because you feel lost and disconnected doesn't mean that people are seeing you that way. And so when you were feeling like that and like nobody was getting you, that's a problem. That's what we just talked about.
But people didn't change in the way that they were looking at you. They still see you as a go-getter. They still see you as someone who can get things done. They still see you as someone who has really great ideas, you know, and is ready to act on them. What's the difference here? What's changed here is that now you feel that impulse to do something, to reach out, to sell, to buy, to promote yourself in some sort of way.
And what this alignment of planets is saying, that this is the right time to do it, is that you're also going to be connecting with people who recognize what you have to sell or recognize what you wanna do, and they will respond by giving you ideas, advice, and coaching about how to do it. So not only will you have this sense during this period in July of acting on something you've always wanted to do, you're also going to get the support for it, and you're also going to get help, guidance, and mentoring. That's what makes this period of time so good for you, a time for you to progress down the path that you want to go and to realize your aspirations and ambitions.
Taurus
If you're born under Taurus or you have Taurus rising, this sextile that's taking place between Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini and Neptune in the zodiac sign of Aries on July 15th doesn't involve a sextile to you. What it does is that the sextile of these planetary energies will be acting on you.
So what you're going to feel during this period of time is kind of like you're being hurried down a corridor by these planetary energies and being forced to go someplace that you have no idea of where you're going, and you're not even sure that you want to go. This is what happens when the modern planets aspect themselves, but they don't necessarily aspect us. Okay? When they aspect you by sign in some sort of regard, then there's a feeling of recognizing what the planetary energies are at play. When they aspect themselves, then it's going to be a feeling more along the lines of circumstances that are acting on you or certain conditions that require your immediate attention. It's going to manifest more as external events and developments rather than something that you feel like you're choosing or something that you want to do.
Now, Uranus right now happens to be in that part of your solar chart that pertains to money. Now, it's probably too soon to be talking about Uranus and the idea of money with you, and that's because Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, entered the zodiac sign of Taurus in twenty eighteen and didn't really leave until just a few weeks ago. And so what you have experienced since twenty eighteen is revolution and change, and you know all about it. And being a fixed sign, you probably didn't like it at first. You were probably like, “Why are these things changing?” and, “Why didn't someone tell me about this?” and, “Why am I having these rude awakenings and these surprise upsets? What happened to the consistency and the stability in my life?”
Okay. So it's understandable that you might be feeling a little bit exhausted, and you might be feeling a bit fraught. And the idea of Uranus now in that part of your solar chart that has to do with money, that might make you flinch. That might make you uncomfortable. That might even press a button in you or trigger something. But what's going on with Uranus in this particular placement is good and not challenging. It's not difficult. And that's because Uranus has changed its disposition.
When Uranus is going through your sign, like it was from 2018 until recently, then you yourself are the object of this revolution and change. Or in some cases, you might actually be the agent of the revolution and change. But if you're the agent of the revolution and change, it's probably something that you didn't really realize you were going to unleash. It's probably something that you didn't think was going to be so controversial or so difficult or was going to bite you in the derriere—you know, all of these things that you've experienced the past few years.
Right now, because Uranus has moved on to another zodiac sign, it's moved on to Gemini, which is the sign next to you, and it's forming a sextile to Neptune, what's happening is that Uranus has changed its disposition. It's changed the way that it's talking to you. Instead of being a revolutionary energy, it's a revelatory energy. And instead of bringing about random change and rude awakenings and surprise upsets, it's actually showing you how to work with the different pieces in your life in a new alignment and to progress rather than be left behind by the events that are taking place in your life.
So what you can expect to happen with its sextile to Neptune is you can have this sense that you are being moved in a direction that's good for you. Will it still feel like you're being hurried down a corridor by invisible forces and you don't really know what's on the other end of it? Probably, okay? And you might really not have a clear idea about where it is that you're going. But if you listen to your gut, okay, if you really respond to what's taking place around you in terms of your own internal gyroscope, you'll probably feel that at least if you're not quite sold on the direction that you're going in your life, at least you want to see where it's going. You want to explore this alternative. You want to see what's at work.
And so essentially what this sextile is going to do is that it's going to open your mind to changes. Where before you might have been like, “I don't like change at all,” and change is like, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose—you know, the more things change, the more they stay the same. You know, things that would have been traditionally Taurean. Well, with Uranus's venture through your zodiac sign, it's kind of opened you up to the possibility of invention and innovation.
So right now, with its sextile to Neptune in the zodiac sign of Aries, you can begin to see it. You can begin to imagine it. It may occur to you at first like, “Well, there's something that I have to change about my money, or the way that I make my money, or how I manage or handle it.” But it's going to lend itself because Neptune has a ripple effect. It's named after the Roman god of the ocean, which ruled all bodies of water, whether they were ponds and lakes or seas and oceans.
So this ripple effect that's going to be going through you is this idea of being open to the idea of experimentation, being open to the idea of discovery. Maybe you want to change what you're doing for a living. Maybe you want to change the career path that you're on. If that's something that you're drawn to, then Uranus' sextile to Neptune is going to make it more organic. It's not gonna be something where you have to uproot where you are or try something new and different completely cold turkey.
Moreover, because Uranus moves from a sextile to Neptune on the 15th of July to a trine to Pluto on the 18th, and Pluto right now is at the top of your solar horoscope—it's in that part of your solar chart that's called the Midheaven—these changes, this willingness to explore, this willingness to try on something new and different is going to be getting confirmation. It might be getting confirmation from superiors. It might be getting confirmation from clients or people that you work for in some regard. Or it might just be getting confirmation from the events around you, that you might be like, “You know what? I really wanna change the career path I'm on.” And maybe the people around you are saying, “You know what? That's a great idea. I could totally see you doing that. Um, I think it's wonderful. You've been talking about change for a long time, you know, and now to sort of initiate something, to try something new and different, I think that's great. That's something that I could really see for you.”
So you're going to be getting confirmation, not only from the circumstances around you, but from the people you know. So this is a wonderful period of time to make this sort of a change because you're working with the current of events that are being set forth by the planetary energies rather than against it.
The only thing that might be a little bit hesitant for you is that you don't really have a clear idea of where you're going. But again, that's the whole point of Uranus, which tends to be a more futuristic type of planet. If you knew where you were going, it wouldn't be different. It wouldn't be inventive. It wouldn't be the future. It would just be something that you know that you're doing, and you're doing it by rote. So Uranus is changing your perspective to head in a different direction that won't be radically different, that will organically grow out of where you are right now. So all you have to do is be open to the idea, and you will see the circumstances in your life cooperate. And you will see all those pieces that you were looking at in your life that didn't really fit together or they weren't really quite harmonizing with one another. As you follow this path, you will begin to see how everything actually does come together, but in a way you never envisioned before, but in a way that you will also recognize to be true to you.
Gemini
If you're born under Gemini or you have Gemini rising, Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, entering your sign properly knocked over the game board and sent all the pieces flying. That is what Uranus has a tendency to do. When it enters your zodiac sign, it changes all the rules of the game in your life. The things that used to work for you don't work for you in the way that they did before. You have to learn this new game. You have to learn how to play on this new playing field, and you basically have to learn as you go. There's no secret training or preparation or setting yourself up for this. You're thrown into the thick of things, and you basically have to learn as you go.
So upsets and rude awakenings and curveballs being thrown at you from out of left field, these are the things that normally accompany Uranus entering your own zodiac sign. It can feel very much like you've suddenly entered into a game of dodgeball, and all these balls are being tossed at you. Now, some zodiac signs would stand there petrified and absolutely terrorized by what's going on. But you're a Gemini. You think on your feet. You're resilient, you're inventive, and you're spontaneous. So not only do you know how to dodge these balls that are being thrown in your direction, but you're probably picking them up and throwing them back and maybe even hitting the people who have aimed the balls at you.
So in other words, this feeling of Uranus coming into your life, even though it can be cyclonic and really wild and crazy, it's something that you also understand. It's something that you also might be excited by and invigorated by, something that's really bringing you to life.
Now, if I was just talking to you about Uranus entering your own zodiac sign and the upsets that it brings, that could take you a little while to sort of figure out how to work with that energy, how to harness those forces that have been let loose in your own life. But what's also going on during this period of time that I'm talking about, which is July 15th, is that Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, is forming a sextile to Neptune, the planet of vision, of illusion and disillusionment.
Now, basically how that's going to work is like this. Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, changes its disposition when it's forming a sextile to Neptune. By itself, it might be cranking up the volume on a heavy metal band and rocking to it, okay, in terms of you having to deal with that energy. But because it's forming a sextile to Neptune, what's happening is that you're meeting people around this July 15th period, or in the weeks leading up to the July 15th period too. I have to remember these are modern planets that we're talking about, so they're very slow to move into that alignment, so the developments take place over a longer period of time.
You may very well be meeting like-minded people, people that get where you're coming from. People who are like, “Yeah, I like that same heavy metal band too. Let's rock out,” you know? Or people who are sort of like, “I see where you wanna go with this, and I wanna sign on for what you're doing. I think your take on things is very inventive. I think you bring a fresh perspective to what's going on in this situation. You really need to be advanced. You really need to be championed, and I'm here to support you.”
So with the Neptune in Aries in this particular angle of your own astrological chart, you may be meeting people who are opening doors, people who are mentoring you, people who recognize in you a special quality. Maybe it's a little rough around the edges, but with a little honing and refining it can be brought out. So where you might be feeling this electricity in your life and very galvanized and very sudden, okay, these people can take you out of this feeling of things happening at you, you know, and show you how you can work with those energies to change the circumstances in your life and to create something that you want to create for yourself. They're basically giving you a medium or a vessel or an avenue to travel along, you know, a place for this energy to go. All right? And so this is going to be a wonderful feeling.
The other thing that's going to play into this is that Uranus in your own zodiac sign on July 18th will form a trine to Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius, and this is a good thing. A trine is always wonderful because it basically talks about a planet that's forming a relation to a planet in your sign in which the two planets totally understand one another. Okay, now the planet that we're talking about here is Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius, okay? And as I mentioned earlier in the forecast, Pluto is the planet of ordeals and the transformations that arise from them, and Pluto was a planet that was discovered in 1930 around the time that nuclear fission was discovered and leads the beginning to the Atomic Age.
Okay, so at first you might be like, “Okay, Pluto's connected to atom bombs and things like that. That's like really great.” Okay. But what I want to remind you of is that with the beginning of the Atomic Age and nuclear energy, that changed an energy source in our lives, that changed an energy source on the planet, and it changed something which began as a destructive device, which was an atomic bomb, and it changed it into something like nuclear energy, which is becoming more trainable. It's becoming more user-friendly.
Now, the reason why I went through this explanation, the reason why you got this history lesson, is because the disposition of these two planets changes. Uranus goes from being a revolutionary planet, a revolutionary figure, to a revelatory figure. Uranus becomes inventive, okay? And Pluto, a planet that's associated with ordeals and the transformations that arise from them, goes from being something that's overwhelming and even potentially destructive to something that generates power in your life, and the power that it generates is something that's good, and it's going to be transformative. In other words, you don't really have to go through the ordeal to bring about the transformation because you're harnessing that energy of Uranus, and you're willing to try something different, something that's far-fetched, something that really improves your reach because you're going to be more creative and more inventive.
Pluto's gonna get behind you, and it's gonna support that. It might even take you further than you wanted to go, and you might even go after something new in your life faster than you were really prepared for. There can be an acceleration of energy or pace. So what I see happening as a result of this is that you may be connecting to people who share the same ideas that you have, who have the same values that you have, and they're going to help you to basically connect to your higher purpose in life. And your higher purpose in life may be a creative purpose, it may be a business purpose, it may be a spiritual purpose, but it is a higher purpose, and it's a higher purpose defined by Aquarius, which means that you're meant to serve others as well as yourself.
In other words, this higher purpose, maybe it's creative, maybe it's musical, maybe it's mathematical, maybe it's business, maybe it's spiritual, it has to involve other people, and it needs to be sensitive to their concerns. You're basically connecting to something that's allowing you to become an agent for change, but for the better, and it's for the good of a group, it's good for a community, it's for the greater good of a culture. And so this is something that's going to take you to a higher level. You're not just doing something for yourself, you're doing something for the betterment of the people around you. And that is something that's always a wonderful and very stimulating and very fulfilling thing.
So whereas a Gemini, your sights might have been lower because Geminis have more of a tendency to sort of be in the moment and to go from decision to decision or transaction to transaction or idea to idea. Here, because of the trine to Pluto, you're being set on a path that's going to be more sustainable. It's going to lead somewhere, and it's going to do with maybe higher education or your belief or your philosophy, but it's taking you to a higher arena in the world where you will have more influence. You will impact other people's lives, and if you're going to impact other people's lives, it only makes sense, because of the air energy, that those lives are going to impact and inspire you.
Cancer
If you're born under Cancer or you have Cancer rising, the planet that I wanna focus on to begin with is Neptune, the planet of illusion and disillusionment, the planet of what I yearn for. Right now, Neptune is at the top of your own solar horoscope. It's at the highest point in the chart that it could possibly be, and it's in the zodiac sign of Aries.
So what's happening here is that Neptune is calling you to be the best that you can be. It's calling you to leave behind the things that are familiar, the things that are comfortable, and to really press ahead to take on those challenges, those obstacles, those difficulties that will make you a stronger person and that will make you rise to the top of whatever it is that you do in your life. That can be anything from president of the PTA to CEO of a major corporation. Okay, with Neptune at the top of your chart, there is no glass ceiling. There is no limit to what you can yearn for, to what you envision, to what you aspire to be. And so this is what Neptune is calling you to do, and it's calling you to do it boldly. It's calling you to do it powerfully, and it's calling you to do it in a very uncompromised and exposed fashion. These are all qualities that are associated to the zodiac sign of Aries.
Now, if you're born under Cancer or you have Cancer rising, this is a very different energy than you're used to. Cancer is a water sign. It leads with its feelings. It's very sensitive to the feelings of other people. It is afraid of being exposed. It's afraid of being targeted. It doesn't wanna do anything that reveals what it wants or where it's going. This is why Cancers tend to blend into the background. They're a cardinal sign, which means you're an unstoppable force. You will get what it is that you want, but you don't go racing at it like an Aries and locking horns. You move in a circuitous manner. You move in a big circle.
You might even feign disinterest in something that you want or laugh it away, or people might say, “Well, you always said you wanted this,” and you're like, “Oh, how childish. I wanted that maybe 15 years ago, but now it means nothing to me.” And they might be like, “Mm, actually, you said you wanted it, like, last week.” And you're like, “No, you know, I'm past that now.” And you may put on this attitude to throw people off the scent and to see if you can approach what it is that you want, to get closer and nearer to it. Remember that Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which is connected to Diana, goddess of the hunt. And if you think of hunters, they don't go and wave at the deer that they're hunting. They wear camouflage, and they blend into the background, and they stalk, and they follow the prints and things like that.
As a Cancer, you do the same thing when you're approaching someone you want to meet or a job that you want to get or a goal that you want to achieve. You study it, you wait patiently, and you make sure that you don't give yourself away, that you don't step on a stick that cracks and sends the deer bolting. So you're very quiet and very subtle in your approach.
So this energy of Neptune being at the top of your chart and in such a bold sign as Aries, is that other people may see you as needing to be bold right now, that you are taking on a position of responsibility. If you're not in a position of responsibility now, whether it's the head of your household or the head of a company, then you're on your way to doing that because this is how Neptune is activated in your chart. You're taking on this position of greater responsibility, and people see you as a Neptune in Aries. They're like, “Hmm, I didn't know you had it in you, but you look very focused, and you come across as very confident and strong in your opinions. It's kind of a different you. Um, but I think it's great. I think it's wonderful. I think you can absolutely do this.”
And right now, you may be full of fears and anxieties. You may be a bundle of nerves. You may be like, “I have no idea what I'm doing, and why am I taking this risk? Why am I, you know, taking on this challenge? And how do I know I'm going to be succeeding? And I'm totally out of my element. What happens if I fail?” And so you may be absolutely petrified right now. But because Neptune glamorizes whatever zodiac sign it's in, Neptune is making you appear like you are the epitome of cool and confidence. And so people are willing to follow your lead. People are willing to buy something with you, to do business with you, to create with you, to present you, to champion you.
And so there can be this feeling—it's not quite imposter syndrome. It's more along the lines of, “I don't know if I can do this. Um, I don't know what I'm yearning for. I mean, I know what I'm yearning for, but I don't know if I can accomplish this. I don't know if I can achieve this.” And that would have been what you were dealing with in your life if we didn't have the involvement of Uranus and Pluto.
On July 15th, Neptune in Aries forms a sextile to Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini, and on July 18th, Uranus in Gemini forms a trine to Pluto in Aquarius. Now a sextile is a benevolent aspect that exists between two planets in two different zodiac signs. They don't share the same element, but what they do share is the same gender. In astrology, we have four elements: water, earth, air, and fire, and these elements are divided into two genders. The water and earth signs are regarded as feminine signs or, um, yin signs might be another way to look at it, and the fire and air signs are regarded as masculine signs. The yang signs might be a way to look at it. So the air and fire signs act on things. They empower, they energize, and they invigorate. That's the type of energy that they have.
Now, with this particular sextile that's going on, it doesn't really involve you as a Cancer or a Cancer rising. Being a water sign, you don't really get fire or air energy. It's not something that you really naturally acclimate to, like for instance, an earth sign or of course another water sign. So what can happen here is there can be a feeling that events are acting upon you, or that circumstances are acting upon you, and that you don't really have a choice. You don't really have a say in the matter. What makes this even more complicated is because Uranus and Pluto both happen to be in astrological houses that are probably the most complex houses that there are in all of astrology.
The 12th house basically deals with skeletons in the family closet. It can be a family secret. It can be something that happened to a parent or a parent's parent or a parent's grandparent generations ago that was left unresolved and sort of passed its way down through the family. It can be maybe a psychological disposition that tends to be more negative, like along the lines of depression, or it might even be something like the history of alcohol addiction or drug addiction or gambling or something along those lines, something that the family doesn't really talk about but knows that this was done before or that different relatives suffer from. It might even be something that you struggled with because it was passed down through the generations of the family. So the 12th house basically is talking about the skeletons in the family closet.
And the eighth house—the eighth house deals with sex, death, and other people's money. Remember I told you before that this isn't light stuff. It's pretty, pretty intense. And what you deal with when you're dealing with eighth house issues is basically brushes with mortality, something that makes you feel very mortal, very vulnerable, very like things could go belly up in an instant. Our attitude towards money can be very much tied to our mortality. We need to make money in order to secure ourselves, in order to feed ourselves, in order to have a roof over our head, so making money is really important. So when we go through a period of time in which that is threatened or challenged in some way, we can feel very vulnerable or like we're going to be kicked to the side of the road.
Sex can have a lot to do with mortality because you can be drawn to someone or attracted to someone, and it can take on life-or-death intensity. You know, you have to be with this person or you're going to lose everything. Or maybe you bond with someone in a way that you have to be together and that by being together, you make each other fuller, more powerful as people, but being apart would make you lesser. Um, also sexual attraction and mortality can deal with, “I can be drawn to someone and fall in love with someone, but I can also be haunted by the fear of losing this person, of things not working out, or maybe this person decides to move on to something else, and my life would be destroyed.” So sex can trigger these feelings of mortality.
And of course, death—it could be a brush with it, or someone who's facing something that's difficult in their lives. Like maybe it's a health issue, but like I said, it could be financial, it could be something that deals with their love life. You know, that they're facing something that's really hard and really difficult, and that you wanna be there for them. You wanna have the answers, but you don't have the answers, you know. That the eighth house and the 12th house both bring up plights or predicaments or dilemmas in which the answers aren't easy. And maybe it's not even about having the answers. It's just being there with the person while they're going through this very difficult or this very challenging experience.
So how could Neptune forming a sextile to Uranus in the 12th house, followed by Uranus in the 12th house forming a trine to Pluto in the eighth house, how could this possibly be beneficial to you? You know, like, where's the upside?
Well, it goes back to what I was talking about before, that aspiring to be, that Neptune in Aries, aspiring to be at the top of the heap, to be the best at what it is that you do. A lot of times what we tell ourselves is that we have to do that through pumping ourselves up or motivating ourselves or visualizing or saying that we can do it, you know, type of thing. But that's not the only way that we do these things. Another way that we can do these things, well, might be along the lines of addressing the skeleton in the family closet. Maybe there was a history of financial failure in the family that really colored the way that people treated money in life. And maybe you went through financially challenging times or maybe you went through very secure times, but your parents always had this sense of financial anxiety that it could be taken away, that things could suddenly fall apart. And so that fear becomes something that you guard against, you don't want to be a part of your life.
But that fear can also shape the way that you approach things. It can influence the choices that you take on. You may feel like, “Oh, I can't take that on, it would be too much of a financial risk,” or, “Oh, I can't be around this type of energy, it would bring me down or reintroduce challenges that were reintroduced in my life.” So I never take a risk, I never go and do something that's different. I stay safe within these confines.
And so with Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, being here in the 12th house in the solar horoscope, it may serve to liberate. It may be forcing you to debunk some of these family myths, to cut ties with them, or even to address them and expose them. But what it certainly is gonna talk about is that you're not interested in carrying this, what we would call nowadays, psychological baggage any further in your life, and that the baggage or the things that came before, the stories of the things that came before are holding you back, and that it's time to leave them. It's time to see them as stories or to see them as things that you need to work through. You need to maybe even power through, that you need to shine some light into this dark corner and not accept it as a given.
The trine to Pluto in the eighth house is going to really have to do with your feeling of being beholden to someone else. The eighth house can make someone feel beholden to someone else financially, like someone else makes more money than you do, so you're dependent on them. Beholden to someone else emotionally—you love this person, and you want their recognition, or you want their love, you know. And these can be things that really fueled your sense of fulfillment as a person, and that to live without this person or to live without this situation, to be perhaps thrown on your own devices, would be like a mortal blow. It would make you feel exposed. It would make you feel left.
Um, and so with that trine to Pluto in the eighth, it can be attitudes about money or attitudes about what you need to do to hold love, or attitudes about what is a safe and secure life that maybe these attitudes don't serve you anymore. Maybe they're outmoded. Maybe they've lost their relevancy other than to spook you or to frighten you into submission. So this may be a period of time in which you realize that you have to get rid of these things you've told yourself, that you have to get rid of these things that have frightened you or forced you to make these particular choices, that it's time to let them go, so that you can realize your aspirations, so that you can realize your ambitions.
You may feel also during this time that people are dependent on you, and maybe they really are. Maybe you are carrying the responsibility of other people right now. But that responsibility can also become an invigorating thing, a powerful thing, something that motivates you rather than diminishes you.
So what you're going through here on a basic level is the planets saying, “You can do this, but you can do this as long as you leave behind these things associated with fears and anxieties that gave you some kind of comfort and that you now realize are holding you back.” Put away the skeletons in the closet. Um, you know, accept the responsibilities of the eighth house, whatever they may be, and you may feel like you're actually a lot more capable and a lot more able to achieve these things now that you're facing these myths and debunking them. You can still be anxious, you can still be frightened, but you don't have to be dominated by your anxieties. You don't have to be dominated by your fears. And the best way to get through that is to work with these forces rather than deny them, to accept these aspects as a part of your life rather than ignore them. If you give a place in your life to anxiety and fear and what it may bring out, it becomes less frightening. It actually sort of takes on a smaller and more manageable shape. And even in a funny way, it can even enrich and transform your life in a way that you never imagined before.
Leo
If you're born under Leo or you have Leo rising, this Neptune-Uranus sextile that's taking place on July 15th is going to be a wonderful sextile for you. Now, there's no getting around the fact that Pluto is in Aquarius. That means it's in the opposite sign to yours on the zodiacal wheel. And when Pluto is opposite you, it can bring difficulties in a relationship. It can bring difficulties in a relationship because it might just be really hard for you to find a relationship right now. When Pluto is opposite you like it is, what's happening is that there isn't a sense of really connecting with someone, that there might even be a vast chasm between you and another person. That no matter what you do to try to connect to someone or to woo someone or to be with someone, it's just not working out. And you might even have decided, well, it's just not something that's going to happen right now. And that might be your reaction to Pluto being opposite you.
Another thing that can happen when Pluto is opposite you is that things with partnership can be very difficult. Uh, you might be drawn to a very domineering type of partner, someone who controls the way that you speak by correcting what it is you say or belittles you in some sort of regard, or someone who just doesn't give you the approval or the recognition or the emotional intimacy that you crave. You could be in a long-term relationship, and there might be issues that are going on in a partner's life that are very frightening to your partner, or they're very challenging to your partner. And so your partner has basically become removed from you because they're so caught up in these other responsibilities, these other obligations, these other priorities that they have, and you may feel like your partner doesn't have much time for you. So Pluto opposite your own zodiac sign can manifest, as I've just demonstrated, in a variety of different ways.
What's going to help you through this period of time, though, and it's gonna do more than help you—it's kind of really the next step that you take—is Neptune being in the zodiac sign of Aries. And this is a good thing. This is a good thing because Aries is a fire sign, just like Leo is a fire sign. So what's happening is that with Neptune in Aries, it's forming a trine to you. You're getting unconditional support from the planet Neptune, and this is a good thing.
Now, one might say, “Is it? Is it really a good thing? Isn't Neptune the planet of illusion and disillusionment and visions and all sorts of ephemeral things? Doesn't Neptune rule over yearning and stuff? And yearning is longing for things that you can't have. Like, what could possibly be good about that?”
The beauty of Neptune is that it acts upon our imagination. And if you're in a creative profession, for instance, you couldn't hope for a better alignment to Neptune than a trine because it gives you access to your imagination unconditionally. You have access to your imagination 24/7, and so that creative spark never goes out, or that creative well that you draw upon never runs dry. But let's say you're not in a creative profession. Let's say you're in an athletic profession. You know, then Neptune can be the way that you visualize something. You know, it can be the way that you remember your training, that you embody the training, you visualize scoring or winning, and that's what leads you through the conflict. Neptune can give you an ability to tune out the competitors and to focus on the performance you want to give and the things that you want to accomplish.
But let's say you're not in sports, and let's say you're not in the arts. Neptune can also act in terms of a vision, a vision that you have, and that is going to be very resonant for you right now because Neptune happens to occupy that part of your solar chart that deals with your higher purpose, okay? So what you may experience is that something is calling to you, that something is calling to you to leave behind the things that were comfortable and familiar, and to pursue it wherever it leads.
Now, a lot of times people can say, “You know, I felt this calling. I felt like something said I had to leave this and go somewhere else.” And they can follow that, and it can be a very powerful experience. But it may not be something that's supported by the people who know you. You know, loved ones or friends or even colleagues might say like, “Great calling, but are you really going to leave this high-powered corporate job to go write poetry? I mean, you know, what are you gonna do with yourself? What are you gonna do for a living?”
But there may be something inside of you that says, “I need to leave this high-powered corporate job and to go write poetry because I've always wanted to write poetry. I know that poetry speaks to me, and I speak to poetry, and this high-paying corporate job is quashing my soul. It's keeping me from doing the things that I really want to do in life.”
And there's always a risk, you know, when you feel called upon to leave something and to go somewhere else—a risk of being led astray, that maybe you're following an hallucination or a mirage in the desert. Or, as I said, you're being led astray in some way. But the thing is, with a trine, chances are that's not what's really happening. Um, but even if there was that risk, aren't you better off following that and finding out what that would be rather than denying it, shutting the door, and not following that? A lot of times people suffer the greatest regrets from not pursuing something that they felt was right at the time that it felt right for them to pursue it. And so that's something that's going on with you right now. You know, you may feel like you're being called to, you know, follow a path that really doesn't seem very feasible or very practical, but because it's a fire sign—Neptune is in Aries, it's the fire sign that trines your own fire sign—you're going to feel spiritually bold. You're going to feel like this is right. You're going to feel like you should follow this wherever it should go.
And one of the things that's going to be supporting this type of energy is Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini. Uranus in Gemini forms a sextile to both Leo and Aries. In fact, it comes right between those two zodiac signs—not like it's the sign between them, but if you go Aries is a fire sign, the next air sign is Gemini, and then the next fire sign after Gemini is Leo. So that's where you see Uranus is kind of occupying this midpoint or this sextile point between the two signs. And sextiles are good in astrology. They may not be as good as, for instance, a trine where you get unconditional support, and that's indeed what you're getting from Neptune right now in the zodiac sign of Aries, but they will still be in your corner, the sextile.
It's just that when you've got a sextile that's going on between a planet and your sign, the planet is saying to you basically, “I wanna give you unconditional support. I wanna be in your corner. I really think that you could do this, but I have some issues, or I have some questions I have to ask, or I have some options or alternatives that I feel like I need to introduce. So let's talk about this, and let's work this out.” And so what's nice about Uranus showing up in Gemini is that it's going to put you into contact with people who can see where it is that you wanna go. Um, it's gonna put you in contact with people who are like, “You know, I think that's a great idea. Did you think about doing this? Did you think about doing that? Did you think about doing this other thing?” And so it opens your world. It gets you to sort of think of things differently than the way that you were thinking of them before. And so maybe it allows you to reinvent or to reorder or to rework what's going on here to make it a more doable choice, or to make the path that you want to follow more accessible, and you can actually see where it's going. What's nice about fire and air energy is that you can see. I mean, that's literally what fire does—you can see it—and then the air… Air signs always take a bird's-eye view of things, so you can see where it is going. And so this is a wonderful thing.
So we also know that Uranus is going to form a trine to Pluto, which is opposite you in the sky. Now, Pluto being opposite you—if you were just dealing with Pluto being opposite you, you would be dealing with the challenges and the issues that I was describing before. But Pluto changes its disposition when it forms a trine to Uranus. Pluto is in Aquarius, so it's an air sign, so it's going to form a trine to Uranus in Gemini, which is an air sign. They absolutely get one another. But then you get the benefit of the sextile from Uranus to you.
Now, that probably sounds like a very complicated picture that I just drew for you, but essentially what's going on here is that Uranus ends up being a mediator or an interpreter between Pluto and you. So in other words, where Pluto has been opposite you—you're without a relationship and you can't do anything to get one, or you're involved in a relationship in which you feel dominated or controlled by the other person. And sometimes someone can be controlling just by the difficult circumstances they face—you know, that they're out of work, or they can't take care of a situation, or they have a block about something. And so they can become domineering in the sense that their problems are domineering. Um, or the third thing that I was talking about, that a partner's going through something that's very difficult. What happens here with Uranus forming the trine to Pluto and sextiling you, is that you will start to discover ways to find that relationship if you want to find the relationship.
In other words, for instance, you might suddenly be fraternizing or socializing with a different group of people altogether as a result of choosing a different path or following an aspiration. This might bring different people into your life, and they might be more of the same mindset as you and more simpatico or maybe more attractive even to you. You might be around people who get you and that you get in a way that's different as a result of these sextiles and this trine. Uh, another idea would be maybe seeking someone who helps you to understand what's going on in your partner's life. You know, that might be a therapist or a mediator in some way. Or it might be an agency who can help your partner with the struggles that they're going through. Maybe that's someone who can help them with their finances, or again, someone who might be able to help them psychologically or even spiritually.
But what's happening here is that the Uranus sextile to Neptune and then the trine to Pluto, which is opposite, turns something that was opposite you or opposed to you into a planetary energy that's talking to you, maybe through a third party, but it's talking to you, and you're beginning to understand one another. And this is a good thing. This can't help but improve your relationships—certainly the possibility of forming a relationship, but also if you're already in a relationship, improve the relationship because then you begin to understand the other person's point of view. You begin to understand the other person's perspective.
And when you understand and accept that person for being who they are, you can also understand and accept yourself for being who you are. And so in a way, what's kind of nice about this whole thing is that you're really grounding yourself in who you are. You're really recognizing who you are, and as a result of this journey to self-awareness, you're coming to appreciate other people for who they are and to make choices that are more relationship-oriented and less involved with what a relationship should be oriented. And that can only open both your mind and your heart.
Virgo
If you're born under Virgo or if you have Virgo rising, the planet that I want to focus on to begin with with you is Uranus. Uranus in the astrological sign of Gemini. Right now, Uranus in Gemini happens to occupy that part of your solar horoscope that pertains to the Midheaven. The Midheaven is the highest point of an astrological chart. So the Midheaven can be connected to your destiny, it can be connected to your career, it can be connected to this idea of what you've been called upon to do here in your life. It can be connected to success, being the best at what you could possibly be. Reaching the summit and the idea, of course, is that when you reach the summit or you win, that you have nothing more to worry about because you've reached the summit and you've won and you're a great success.
Well, for anyone who has reached a summit experience in their life, or they've experienced a success, or they've won a prize or achieved a goal, they pretty much know that that starts a whole new climb. That starts a whole new chapter, where maybe you're defending the prize that you won, or you espy a higher goal than where you are right now, and so you wanna go after that. Or the success lives for a period of time and then fades, kind of like a 1980s one-hit wonder band, something along those lines. So success doesn't always bring the promise of the future that we expect it to bring. Sometimes success is, as I said, short-lived, or sometimes success can bring a whole new slew of troubles, a whole new range of headaches.
So with Uranus at the top of your chart, Uranus is the planet of revolution and change. Okay, so what Uranus basically wants to do or what it's going to do—and especially right when it's entered a sign, and it's just recently entered the zodiac sign of Gemini, which is at the top of your chart—is that Uranus is going to kick over the game board and send all the pieces flying. Uh, it's going to spin the wheel of fortune so that if you're on top, you're now at the bottom, or if you're at the bottom, you're now on top. So there is this radical shift, this radical change in your life, something that you weren't really expecting, um, something you didn't really plan for.
Now, that isn't just a bolt hitting you out of the blue, which Uranus can often appear in your life like. That can be the experience of Uranus coming into your life. It can be a bolt out of the blue that turns you around or changes your thinking. But if things don't turn out as planned or expected, it could be that your plans are awry or that your expectations were off the mark. Uranus' true job in astrology is for you to get things right.
All right. So it's kind of like you're looking at a situation upside down or inside out, or a situation that's maybe clouded by your fears or anxieties, and so you might make choices based out of not really understanding something, or you might be making choices based on fears and anxieties. A lot of times our drive to success can be driven by fear or anxiety. It may have very little to do with our aspiration or even our ambition. So when Uranus comes rolling into your life like it is right now, and when it takes up a prominent place in your horoscope, if it's causing revolution and change, if it's causing surprise upsets and rude awakenings, it's not just doing that to torture you or to, you know, make your life difficult. It's doing it to wake you up. It's doing it to get you to live in alignment to your true life, okay? If you're going to spend so much time being a success or working hard or making sacrifices for success, then it better be a success that you truly want, and not something that you think you should want.
And this is part of what's going on with this Uranus-Neptune sextile that's taking place on July 15th. Part of what's going on is that there is going to be this kind of disillusionment. It's almost like someone rips open the curtain or takes off the veil. Okay, I've got it—it's that moment in The Wizard of Oz. You knew it was gonna come up, it's one of my favorite movies. It's in that moment in The Wizard of Oz where Toto, you know, claws at the curtain and yanks it open, and Dorothy and the Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and the Lion realize that there is no wizard, and that there's an old man operating these levers and dials and that they had been lied to all along, that they are completely disillusioned.
It can be this feeling of like, “I really believed in this, and I thought that this was the right way to go. There's this yellow brick road that I followed, and I conquered the Wicked Witch, and all I get is this lie, this exposure of a lie.” But what makes that moment in The Wizard of Oz so beautiful is that by losing the illusion, by losing the expectation that someone was going to come and help them, they come to realize that they had those things all along—that the Scarecrow was always smart, the Tin Woodsman was always loving, the Lion was brave (even though he was cowardly, but he was still brave), and that Dorothy… Dorothy always had the ability to transport herself home. It was just her wanting to go home that really mattered. All right?
A similar thing is going on here vis-à-vis your success. You may be feeling like success isn't cut out to be what it was supposed to be for you. Now, part of what's going on, or one way that we could see the turn of the wheel that's taking place here with Uranus, is that maybe suddenly you lose a job. Maybe suddenly you're fired, you're let go. There's no longer that position available to you. You're thrown out of what it is that had given you a sense of security. And sometimes, you know, if you're at the top of the wheel and you find yourself at the bottom of it, it can be that feeling of having taken a great fall. And that experience can be really hard. That experience can be really difficult. That experience can be very embittering and even paralyzing.
But the thing to think about is that sextile to Neptune. Perhaps what was exposed here is that maybe you didn't really want this, or maybe this wasn't the right place for you to be working, you know? Or maybe the company that you were working with didn't really appreciate you, um, or maybe the time had come for you to leave this and to move on to something else. We rarely make these changes voluntarily in our lives. We rarely say, “Oh, I've got a secure position and I'm going to leave it to pursue something, you know, that's closer to me or that really reflects my truth.” Um, some of us do it, but not a lot of us do it, and maybe what it takes is a shake of the tail. Maybe what it takes is a turn of the wheel and being thrown out of that situation.
So you might be going through an experience that's disillusioning and maybe even bordering on the disastrous, but at the same time, it may be giving you back that thing that's so important to Uranus, which is your freedom. Okay? This isn't something that Virgos always embrace. Uh, they tend to embrace work and industry, and freedom is not something that they're really into because it's just, you know, there's no to-do list that comes with freedom. It just seems a little bit too open and wild. But maybe Uranus is doing this to shake you out of a situation that you had become subservient to, a situation that you had become too invested in, and that you had lost touch with the things that really matter to you.
Another thing that could happen here is that the turn of the wheel could take you from the bottom to the top, and you could have this feeling that now that you're on top of things and that you're realizing success, that this is a really scary place to be. Um, you know, and that this could be full of all kinds of anxiety and fear. And what's going to happen here with the sextile to Neptune is, if you can remember, other people have been in this position too, and they've also felt that anxiety and that fear. And so, what is it about this position that you can do to make it your own? Okay. So drawing on the fact that there's a history to being in this position—other people have held this position or other people have reached the top of the ladder—you know, what can you draw upon knowledge-wise from the experience of people who've come before?
Um, the first thing you can draw on is that it's perfectly human to be anxious and afraid of where you are. The second thing you can draw on is that you find ways to make it your own. And so that's what takes something from being an abstract fear to something that you can handle and that you can manage.
And the third thing to keep in mind is that Pluto is in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Uranus moves from a sextile to Neptune to a trine to Pluto on July 18th. Pluto is in Aquarius, which is an air sign, just like Uranus is in Gemini, which is an air sign. And so Pluto rules over that hidden part of ourselves which gives us strength and it gives us fortitude, but it's not summoned by our insisting on it. You know, it's not summoned as something that we know that we can do. It's kind of tucked away in the corner of ourselves, and it reacts in a sensation in the gut. You just know that it's right.
And so with Uranus forming a trine to Pluto on July 18th, there's going to be this feeling that no matter the pressure that you're feeling, you can do this, that there's something right about where you are. Just as, for instance, if you felt like you were thrown out of an advantageous position, there's something right to it, which is to find your truth, which is to live the life that you've always wanted to live. Um, the same thing will happen if you find yourself at the top of the heap and at the top of the wheel, that Pluto will give you a very strong sense of, “This is where you need to be. This is where you are supposed to be.” So there can be a great security in something that feels just a little bit fated, okay?
But what you want to do is make this your own. And what's wonderful about Pluto in Aquarius is that it rules over timing, okay? Because Aquarius has so much to do with timing. And there's always this predicament that Aquarians face—whether you're Sun, Moon, or Aquarius rising—which is, “Am I ahead of my time or has my time come?” You know? And if you're ahead of your time, then you came into something too early, too prematurely, or you're talking about an idea that's brilliant, but people don't get it because it's too ahead of the time. You know, they don't see how that could happen.
I mean, right now we live with smartphones, for instance, but if you were to take us 100 years back in time and try to explain how a smartphone works to someone on the street, they would be looking at you like, “Okay, you're crazy, and how do I get out of this conversation?” Okay. So that's what being ahead of your time can be like.
The flip side to the Aquarian experience is your time has come. That's when, you know, the way that you see something aligns with people's ability to understand it. Light bulbs go off over their heads, and they totally get what you're about, and they're like, “Oh my goodness, I totally understand what you're trying to describe. That's great. Let's work with that.” And so that's a feeling of your time has come.
With Pluto forming a trine to Uranus, which rules Pluto in Aquarius, there's going to be this feeling that your time has come. And so you are in the right place at the right time, in a place where you are living your truth. Now, understanding what that truth is might take a little while, but at least knowing that you're where you're supposed to be in order to understand it, to embody it, and to live according to it, that's a good thing. So you can let the weeks and the months to come sort of approach you, you know, as they introduce you to what this is, and you get to know what this brave new world is that you are now living in.
Libra
If you're born under Libra or you have Libra rising, you can't ignore the fact that Neptune in the zodiac sign of Aries is opposite you. In other words, Neptune is as far away as it can be from you on the zodiacal wheel. Neptune, as you might recall from earlier in the forecast, is the planet of yearning. It's also the planet of illusion and disillusionment. And so when Neptune is opposite you in the sky, there's this feeling that you are yearning for something that you can't have. And that's a very hard place to be in.
Yearning for something that you can't have seems like such a ridiculous waste of your time and energy, and you might even try to talk yourself out of it and to say, “This is ridiculous. Snap out of it. This is like really stupid. Like, why are you yearning for something it is that you cannot have?” But yearning… Yearning can tell us a lot about ourselves that can't be understood through our more cerebral, logical, or intellectual faculties. Yearning means that something is missing from your life.
And when Neptune is opposite you, what's missing from your life is perhaps a partner, or perhaps someone that you feel close to in some way, someone that you want to be partnered with, someone that you want to be beside. And that could be because there's no one there, or that could be because the person that you're in a relationship with isn't there to some regard. Neptune has this funny way of making the thing that we want and yearn for hallucinatory. It's almost like it could suddenly render it invisible.
And so when you have Neptune opposite you in the sky, like it is right now, there's either no relationship to speak of, or you may be in a relationship with someone who feels like a no-show, or that they're at sea, or that you don't really feel connected to them—that you just sort of pass through one another like two phantoms out of Dante's Inferno. That the more that you long to be with one another, you just don't connect. That doesn't really happen.
Or another way that Neptune can materialize is that the partnership itself is a drain. It's exhausting. That the person that you're with is always befuddled or perplexed or non-committal or vacillating or has one foot in the relationship and one foot out, and that the person is draining. That longing for this person, that wanting to get together with this person always feels compromised and compromising. And that, you know, weeks later or months later or even years later, you're still trying to convince someone to be with you or to show up for you. And again, you may feel like you're fighting a losing battle.
Now, if we were only talking about Neptune opposite you in the sky—in other words, if Neptune was opposite you in the sky and that's all that was going on—okay, then it would be as dismal as what I describe. But Neptune opposite you in the sky is not the only thing that's going on as far as the modern planets are concerned. As I said earlier, Neptune is forming a sextile to Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini on July 15th, and then Uranus is going to go ahead and form a trine to Pluto on July 18th.
What's nice about this is if we take a couple of steps away from that Neptune opposition to you, we discover that there are two modern planets in air signs. We have Uranus in the zodiac sign of Gemini, and we have Pluto—Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Gemini is an air sign, Aquarius is an air sign, and Libra is an air sign. So what's happening here is that we have a grand trine in air that's forming in the sky above. The Uranus in Gemini is trining Libra by sign, but the Uranus in Gemini is also going to form a trine to Pluto in Aquarius, and Pluto in Aquarius in turn is forming a trine to Libra by sign.
So when you have a grand trine in air, this is a wonderful thing. This is a great thing, okay? Because grand trines confer good fortune and they confer protection. The good fortune that they confer is that you can come into what it is that you want vis-à-vis that element, okay?
So for instance, if you have a grand trine in earth, you will have strength and good fortune in health and wealth, the things that are ruled over by earth. If you have a grand trine in water, you will have good fortune and protection in the area of love and creativity—that no matter how many times your heart is broken, it will always mend and you will love again, and no matter how many times you feel like you've run out of creativity, you'll have a dream or a vision, or someone will say something, or an idea will pop up into your head, and you will become creative again. So that's what a grand trine in water can bring.
A grand trine in fire can bring realization in spirituality and confidence in who you are as a person, no matter how many times you're ignored or laughed at or maybe even rejected by the society or the culture that you were raised in. You will find a place in the world in which you will be recognized and celebrated for who you are, and in which the spirit that you never gave up on will always be there for you so that you wind up fulfilling yourself as a person.
And as you might imagine, with a grand trine in Air, you have good luck and good fortune and protection in the area of relationships. So you may be without a relationship right now, or you may be in a relationship with someone that you just don't feel gets you, or you may be in a relationship with someone who's troubled and feels at sea, and you wish that this person could, I don't know, pick up the clue phone or something along those lines.
With this grand trine in Air that's operating this week and will actually continue operating for a sustained period of time, there's going to be a sort of sea change in these relationships. First of all, you may find yourself meeting a new group of friends or a new group of people to fraternize or hang out with, okay? And that might change your social landscape so that you are meeting new and different people, and that you are exploring what you're like when you're with these people. So they might be added to your social circle, or they might be replacing your social circle with new and more exciting associations. So that could be something that's going on.
Another thing that might be going on is that there may be changes that go on in your relationship by being able to talk to this partner that you haven't been able to talk to, or maybe certain friends or loved ones intervene that begin to sort of build bridges and get you talking in a way that you haven't spoken about before. Or there may simply be a shift in which this person, you know, sort of thinks differently than the way they saw things before. It's kind of a new wind that's blowing into your life.
And so what you can see happening is that the shifts and the changes in not only a relationship that you want, but all of your relationships—which means your professional relationships and your friendships and things like that—these shifts and changes aren't going to be sudden or radical. These shifts and changes are going to be organic, that they're going to be in keeping with who you are and with who the people in your life are, so that you may be experiencing new relationships or a new life in a relationship, or just revisiting what a relationship is about.
But certainly, one of the things that you are going to experience with Uranus being in the zodiac sign of Gemini and ruling Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius—it doesn't just trine Pluto, it rules Pluto—is the idea of friendship. Gemini is always about the friend, the buddy, the person that you can hang out with. And something that Libra often yearns for and longs for is a partner who's like a best friend. You know, someone that you're in a relationship with, but you can be as comfortable and relaxed as you would be with your own best friend. And so, this might reintroduce a friendship that's been missing in your relationship, and that might be reintroduced during this period of time. Or this might bring someone into your life in which you partner again with someone, and the person that you're partnering with feels like a very new and true best friend.
Scorpio
If you're born under Scorpio or you have Scorpio rising, the one thing that we absolutely have to look at is your ruling planet, Pluto, in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Pluto is one of your two ruling planets. The other ruling planet is Mars, and the modern ruling planet is Pluto. Pluto is the planet of ordeals and the transformations that arise from them. So what this says about Scorpios right off the bat is that you're no stranger to ordeals. You're no stranger to going through hell and high water in order to get what you want, to experiencing extraordinary and excruciating challenges and tests of will and spirit. And as a Scorpio, you not only thrive in this type of environment, but you grow and evolve in it as well.
Now, is this something that as a Scorpio, you decided, “Oh, gee, I think I want to live a life full of ordeals and the transformations that arise from them. That sounds like a great way to be.” No, that's pretty much the last thing that you ever wanted. You're a water sign, so you want love, you want affection, you want creature comforts, you want things to work out, you want everyone to get along. But you were born under Mars and you were born under Pluto, two planets that struggle to live the life that they want to live, no matter how difficult the circumstances can be, and the same thing goes for you.
Now, an idea that I want to work with here with you—introduce basically here with you—is the idea of a seed. Pluto was named after the Roman god of the underworld. And as a result, Pluto ruled over the spirits of the dead, anything that descended down into the underworld, into the world that existed beneath the surface of the Earth. So that's basically where people buried the dead, so that was the realm of the dead. It was also the realm of riches, because you could have buried treasures, or you could have things like gold and silver and precious metals, oil—things that were below the Earth. So Pluto was also associated with riches. Indeed, our word plutocracy, which means the wealthy class, comes from the word Pluto, which meant wealth, and still does mean wealth.
And so what I want to introduce to you is the idea of a seed self. The idea of a seed self was pretty much articulated for the first time by Dane Rudhyar, a very famous 20th-century astrologer. Dane Rudhyar talked about two selves. There was the self that you saw in your future, you know, the person that you wanted to be one day. Uh, that could be a job that you get one day or someone that you marry one day. This idea that you want to be someone who's going to be happy and fulfilled, and that was associated with one type of self, and that could be attributed to the sun sign. The sun sign is responsible for ensuring that you become the person that you were always meant to be.
And then there's the seed self. That's the self that you carry around inside of you, okay? Every flower, for instance, after it blooms, goes to seed, and that's how it reproduces. Indeed, we talk about semen as being the seed that impregnates the egg and causes reproduction. So this idea of carrying around a seed can mean that you're also carrying around everything that's come before you in your life. You're carrying around the DNA of your ancestors. You know, that impregnated egg is still inside of you, and so you carry this seed, something that can be experienced in your gut, something that makes you up as a person from a very fundamental way, and something that isn't necessarily something that you might think about or even articulate, but it's that self that you carry around inside of you always.
For Scorpios, that seed self is that feeling of things in your gut, that sense that who you are is older than who you actually are, that you are the sum of all the generations that have come before, and that like a seed, your self can grow in wild and very different directions than you imagine. So where the sun self is more like, “This is what I wanna be when I grow up,” okay, the seed self is, “This is what I'm going to turn into.” Okay? It's something that's already been coded by DNA. It's something in which there have been previous conditions that have shaped it, you know, and it's the true you. Now, maybe the true you aligns with who you wanna be one day, or maybe the true you takes over what you thought you wanted to be one day and gets you back on track to who you really are.
So a lot of times when people are dealing with Pluto, they don't really experience Pluto unless they're going through some sort of ordeal or difficulty in their life. Pluto gives them the strength to get through a difficult situation, the strength and the fortitude to power through it. And at the same time, even though it's not an experience that you would've chosen for yourself, it's one that fulfills you. It's one that you evolve through. You grow through this difficult experience. That is, if you can survive it. You grow through it, and you become a stronger and a more profound… You become a deeper person. You know, there can be things where you go and you achieve things, and you get prizes, and you win, and you become a winner, but the ordeals and the transformations that arise from them that Pluto talks about is becoming a deeper person, a more profound person, and ultimately, the master of your fate—that you sort of vibe into that wild self that is growing in all kinds of different directions, and you work with it in the context of your own life.
Now, this is something that, as a Scorpio or Scorpio rising, you may always feel is at the base of yourself. And certainly, if there's this idea that it's only by ordeals that this transformation takes place, you might be… Or you might have a tendency to wonder, “Well, when does the next ordeal take place? You know, when's the next difficult thing that is good for my spiritual development take place?” Well, that's not what's really going on here with Pluto in Aquarius at the bottom of your own solar horoscope. You can sense that there's been a fundamental change in your life. You know, you may not be a new and different person that's recognizable on the external, but you certainly feel that you're a new and different person underneath, in the depths of your soul, in the depths of who you are, and that, in some way, it's the external circumstances that are catching up to you.
Now, if we were just talking about Pluto, there would be this sense of a change, a fundamental difference, maybe even feeling out of sync with everyone else. But Pluto happens to also be forming a trine to Uranus on July 18th. And this is really important, because the trine is giving you recognition of this seed self. Now, because Pluto is in Aquarius right now, and it forms a square to your Scorpio, this Uranus-Pluto trine energy isn't something that you understand right away. It's not something that you're gonna be able to recognize, but it is something that you're going to be able to feel in your gut, which is the way that Pluto often communicates. Um, and so it's a slow process, and it's a kind of following what your feelings are process.
But nevertheless, there's an intelligence behind it. It's going somewhere, and that's the benefit of Uranus. Uranus is the planet of revolution and change, and it can upset what you've set up as being stable in your life. But its disposition changes when it forms a trine to another planet in your horoscope. In your case, Pluto is your modern ruler, and Uranus happens to be forming a trine to Pluto. So there are changes in the way that you feel beholden to situations in your life. You may be—you may feel beholden to someone financially. You know, they make more money than you do. You may feel beholden to someone emotionally. You know, you're obsessed with this person and you want this person to love you, but you may feel in some way that they don't or they don't really get you, but yet you still want that. Or you may feel beholden to circumstances that feel out of your control. You know, that right when you're getting somewhere in your life, there's some sort of setback or difficulty in which you lose all that progress that you had made. This is something that Scorpios and Capricorns are pretty much accustomed to, and, again, not an experience that you go out looking for or that you really like. You know, it can be very difficult, and it can be very dispiriting.
But with this trine, Uranus changes its disposition. It goes from revolution and change—the two keywords that are used with Uranus. It goes from basically rude awakenings and surprise upsets and wild curveballs being thrown at you from out of left field to revelatory. Okay, so Uranus goes from revolutionary to revelatory. It reveals. It shows you the way. So the idea that there's actually a way, you know, that not only have things fundamentally changed, but there's an intelligence to that. There, there's a greater plan at work, um, and that you could see it if you work with following your gut—that in steps it will reveal itself. Okay, so that's a nice feeling to have, like there's a way that you know that you're going somewhere even though you can't articulate it right now.
But Uranus also rules Pluto because Pluto is in Aquarius and Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius. So there is this greater design, and so what's being asked of you is to follow a path that you can't see clearly. And one of the big things that you might be grappling with is this idea of whether you're ahead of your time or whether your time has come, and this is an Aquarian conundrum. Aquarius is a very future-oriented sign. It's a very progressive sign, very inventive, often gets out ahead of itself in the ideas that it conceives and the viewpoints that it can take. And when you're too ahead of your time, there can be this feeling that you're not connecting or you're not making sense to other people.
Like for instance, take a smartphone that we use every day, right? You know, you press an icon or you talk to Siri and that smartphone does its job, which is to communicate or to get you information, or maybe you can scroll through fun reels to watch. All right, but now imagine being transported 100 years back in time to, I don't know, 1926, okay, and trying to describe to people in 1926 what a smartphone is. Everyone's gonna look at you like you're crazy. You know, like, “Who's the lunatic? And where are the men in the white coats?” You know, like, “This person needs to get in an insane asylum pronto,” you know? And that's an idea that's come before its time.
And so what you may be feeling right now is, am I acting too prematurely? I mean, I know that things have changed or shifted in my life, but, you know, am I ahead of my time in terms of the things that I want, or the actions I wanna take? Or has my time come?
And when your time has come, you can have these far-fetched ideas. You can have these newfangled notions. But when you talk about it, people get it because the time has come. They can recognize what you're talking about, and they can say, “Okay, that's maybe a little far-fetched or out there, but I get it. I can see it.” You know, light bulbs go off over their heads. And so this is what Uranus is saying. It's forming the trine to Pluto, and it's saying, “Your time has come.” So there's gonna be this feeling that one chapter of your life is coming to a close and a new one is beginning, and that you are coming into your own. But it's a feeling, and not one that you are altogether clear on or that you can articulate quite now.
And so what Pluto is asking you to do is to follow the impulse, to trust that your time has come and that you're on the right path. Now, it may not happen as quickly as you want. These are modern planets. They take a lot of—a long time to really come together and to strengthen their bonds with one another. So it may not happen as fast as you want, but you can tell that you're on the right path, and that's the thing that you need to trust in. So if you can sort of put your faith in the idea that there is an intelligent design at work in your life and that you can put your faith in the future, that you are moving towards your personal evolution as a person in which you're going to be able to reap the benefits of that—but that the one drawback is that you can't really see it right now, but you have to sort of trust in this impulse and treat each development as something new and enlightening as it unfolds. If you can follow this impulse, then I can assure you, you can't go wrong.
Sagittarius
If you're born under Sagittarius or you have Sagittarius rising, this upcoming alignment of modern planets is going to benefit you tremendously. But that might not be the way that you experience it right away. The reason for that is because Uranus is in your opposite sign of Gemini. Gemini is the sign that sits opposite you on the zodiacal wheel. So any planet in your opposite sign is a planet that is happening at you. It's not a planetary energy that you embody. It's not a planetary energy that you can harness or direct. It's a planetary energy that is happening at you.
What's happening with Uranus opposite you is that there's this continual feeling that someone is moving the goalposts, that you thought you were heading in one direction, but now you find yourself heading in a radically new and different direction. So it can feel a lot like the rug is being pulled out from underneath you, that this relationship that you thought that you were confident about has now taken an abrupt and surprise turn, that someone you thought was very close to you is now moving very far away from you, or maybe someone who's far away from you is now suddenly closing in on you. Or it could even be the return of someone from your past. So it's this idea that you can't really rely on a stable way of dealing in relationships or even dealing with the world.
The seventh house often describes our relationship to someone else. It could be a beloved or a spouse, but it can also be a business partner or someone that we're involved in a creative collaboration with. But the seventh house can just as easily describe the way that the world shows up in your life. If the rising sign talks about the way that you show up in the world, then the seventh house or the descendant talks about the way that the world shows up in your life. And right now, the world might be showing up a lot like a cyclone or something that is turning things upside down, inside out, or making a crazy mess of things that used to make sense before.
Now, thankfully, Uranus being in your opposite sign isn't the only modern planet that's acting upon your horoscope. You also have Neptune traveling through the zodiac sign of Aries, and this is good. The reason why this is good is because Aries is a fire sign, just like Sagittarius is a fire sign. So Neptune is forming a trine to you by sign. That means that the Neptunian energy is available for you to access and to understand.
Now, people might be like, “Okay, but is that a great planet to have access to or to understand? I mean, Christopher, didn't you just tell us that Neptune is the planet of yearning, that it's the planet of illusion and disillusionment? What could possibly be positive about Neptune, and what could even come from a trine to Neptune in the zodiac sign of Aries?”
The positive thing about this trine is that Neptune in Aries gives you the courage of your convictions. The relationships that you have in your life might not make a lot of sense, and the people that you surround yourself with might be acting all kinds of crazy, and the world might be veering suddenly to the left and to the right and be completely out of control, but you have this sense that in your heart, you're being true to who you are, and you're being true to the things that you want. And this is something that's very important.
Neptune in Aries, in that part of your solar chart that deals with children and creative expression and a sense of self and self-acknowledgment—this is going to be very important to you right now. It allows you to believe that you are heading in the right direction, even though the world around you doesn't make much sense. And this is very important for someone who's born under Sagittarius or who has Sagittarius rising. Yours is a very romantic sign. You're always falling in love with faraway places. You're in love with the world and humanity, and you're always falling in love with love, okay? But you have this problem with love.
Sagittarians, although they can be very romantic and they can be very adventurous, can also have a difficulty with making commitments, with sticking around, with seeing a love affair or relationship blossom and grow. Oftentimes, people born under Sagittarius or who have Sagittarius rising bolt whenever they feel like the pen door is being closed on them. That love of freedom, that sense that if you commit to something—whether that's a person in your life or a vocation or a career—that you're going to lose out on all these other opportunities, that you're going to lose out on all of these possibilities, that you're going to lose your freedom, that you're going to lose your sense of wonder. And so this is why Sagittarians can have difficulty making a commitment. They don't want to lose out on that life experience, which is so important for your growth and development as a person. It's so important to you because it's the thing that lights your fire.
So ironically, what's happening by Uranus sort of turning everything upside down and inside out in terms of your love life or your professional commitments or your creative collaborations, it has taken away the feeling of the door being closed on you. If the people that you're with in your life or you're trying to work with are all of a sudden acting crazy or going off in all kinds of directions, that kind of forces you to be the center. It kind of forces you to be the reliable one, because you don't want them to leave. You don't want to see these things that you've worked for disappear. And so what's kind of funny and what's kind of ironic about all of this is that for someone who always was afraid that you would lose your freedom, you're afraid that you're actually gonna lose the person or the place or the thing or the vocation. And so this is kind of a turnaround for you, and turnarounds and about-faces are absolutely natural to the planet Uranus.
What's also going on here with Neptune being the planet of illusion and disillusionment, is that you are finding yourself facing certain illusions that you have about yourself and the way that you love. The good thing about disillusionment—disillusionment is often portrayed as falling out of an infatuation or falling out of love with someone, so disillusionment is seen as a bad thing. But the good thing about disillusionment is that we can tell ourselves a lot of stories about how to love, or a lot of stories about what a relationship should be. Or we can tell ourselves a lot of stories about why we can never commit to someone or see something through. And these can be stories, and stories can be illusions—things that we tell ourselves or things that we want to believe about ourselves.
So in its own way, a disillusionment, which is a part of the Neptunian experience, liberates you. It liberates you from a fantasy. It liberates you from a bias. It liberates you from a hope that has led nowhere, and it liberates you from a disappointment that you thought would never go away. Because the disappointment can be something you tell yourself. A hope can be a fantasy that you follow. The way that you see a relationship can be a myth, or the way that you see your own independence can be built on a false security.
So what's happening with Neptune, because it's sextiling this whirlwind Uranus on July 15th, is that you're seeing this kind of mad spinning of the wheel as putting you in the place where you're the center, you're the person who wants to hold things together, and that by wanting to hold things together because there's such a fear of losing the things that you want, that by taking on that position, this is actually debunking some of the myths in your life. This is releasing you from certain expectations or certain things that you've insisted on, or certain stories, as I said before, that you told yourself.
And sometimes it's time for us to outgrow our expectations, okay? Those expectations or those things we tell ourselves, those preconceived ideas are getting in the way of having the things that we would truly enjoy. And so during this period of time where Neptune is exercising its disillusioning magic, you're going through a fundamental change in the way that you relate to people. And this change is serving a higher purpose in your life, as attested to by the trine that Uranus is making to Pluto that it will make on July 18th.
Uranus can be wild and crazy, but when it forms a trine to Pluto, it changes its disposition. It's simpatico with Plutonian energy. And Pluto is a planet that's often associated with our personal and spiritual evolution, our coming into ourselves. So instead of being revolutionary, Uranus can take on a more enlightening stance when it forms its trine to Pluto. And what this might result in is a new way of thinking about commitments, a change in the company that you keep and the people that you fraternize with, or even a change in the culture that you live in. But what this promises on so many different levels of your life—whether it's your love life or your social life or your relationship to commitment or being there for someone else or even a sense of self-realization—what this promises is a much more fulfilling life than the one that you were living before.
Capricorn
If you're born under Capricorn or you have Capricorn rising, you can't ignore the fact that Neptune is in the zodiac sign of Aries. And Neptune being in Aries forms a natural square to your own zodiac sign. Now, a square—that's basically a difference of opinion or conflict that exists between a planet and your sign—can be very difficult. Okay? It hits you in a weak spot, and it gives you this feeling that you don't have quite the grip on something that you feel that you should have.
For instance, a natural square that takes place between Aries and Capricorn is the fact that Aries is associated with the spring and Capricorn is associated with the winter. How we translate that into an easy description is that Aries energy is very action-oriented, it's very urgent, it wants to do things right now and very much in the moment, and it wants to power through obstacles. And Capricorn, because of its more wintry nature, is more hesitant, it's more cautious, it's slower. It's not driven by urgency. It wants to take into account the landscape. It wants to weigh the pros and cons of every decision, and it's a climber. So Capricorn doesn't attack something head-on, but it climbs over obstacles, or it climbs up to reach, or it climbs up to get a better vantage point. So things under the auspices of Capricorn are much slower, they're cooler, they're more calculated, and choices are made in which you are playing the long game rather than playing in just the moment. You're going for the longer games rather than the quick fixes.
So this could be a square energy. What adds to this square energy is Neptune, okay? And it's Neptune at the bottom of your own solar horoscope. So what's happening right now in your life is there's this feeling that you can't really feel the ground underneath your feet, okay, which can be a feeling or sensation you can have when Neptune is at the bottom of your own horoscope. Okay, you might feel like you're out of your depth or that you don't have control of a situation that you need to have. That might manifest in your life as news that things in your foundation are changing. There might be changes in the way that your home is run. There might be changes in property. There might be changes in what made you feel rooted in place. You know, you might have felt rooted, but now you feel unrooted. That doesn't necessarily mean that there will be an uprooted experience, but you may feel adrift and like you're sort of floating along a current and that you don't really know where you're going, and you might even be wondering, “Where is all of this leading?”
Now, Neptune, if it were just appearing at the bottom of your solar horoscope and that was it, would have felt very overwhelming. Uh, that feeling of being adrift, that feeling of not knowing where things are going would have been very depressing for you, and you might have even panicked and felt like you had to take some kind of action, that you had to do something to rectify the situation that you're in. But Neptune isn't taking place in a vacuum. It is forming a sextile to Uranus, which is in the zodiac sign of Gemini, and it also happens to be forming a sextile to Pluto, which is in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. All right. So what's happening here is basically you may feel adrift. You may feel like you can't feel the ground beneath your feet, but there is a higher plan at work. There is an intelligent design at work. But because of the proximity of Pluto and where Uranus is placed, along with the square to Neptune, you don't see it. You don't really understand it. Actually, you don't really get it.
Okay, now, you have spent, I think it's like 12, 13 years with Pluto going through your own zodiac sign, and you've gone through a lot of things with Pluto going through Capricorn. It entered 2008, 2009, and it just left your sign last year. And so you've gone through your ordeals, and you've gone through the transformations that arise from them, which is what Pluto is all about. So you've done your journeys down into the underworld. You've had your breakdowns. You've lost your way. You felt like you were exiled or like you didn't understand the terrain that you were navigating, okay? You felt lost, and perhaps in the past couple of years, you have felt found. All right. Like all of a sudden, you know, you understand what your life is about, that the landmarks make sense again, that you have a sense of where you are in the world.
And when Pluto finally left your sign, it would've delivered you to you. All right? So you would've felt very much for the first time that you've felt yourself in a very, very long time. Like you felt like, “Okay, I really feel who I am. I think I know who I am, but even if I don't know who I am or I doubt who I am, I feel who I am. I really feel, you know, very solid in my life.” And of course, no sooner did you have this feeling than Neptune began squaring you, and you felt like you didn't have that connection to the ground again. You felt like you were out of your depth.
What's lovely about the Pluto placement, um, and particularly the Uranian placement, is that there is a sense that you are heading somewhere. You don't really see it, you don't really understand it, but you're willing to follow that lead, okay? Before, as a Capricorn, you would've felt like you needed to take the lead, that anything that presented a change or a challenge was a problem that needed to be solved. And what you've learned over—as a result of all of this—is that life isn't just about problems that need to be solved, and it's not about the safe choices, and it's not about doing the things that you've always done before. You know, you've learned innovation. You've learned exploration. Uh, you've learned experimentation. Okay, these are things that really became an integral part of your life probably beginning about maybe two to four-ish years ago, and you want to implement them in your life. They were abstract ideas before, but now they're actually tools. Now they're things that you can do to live like this.
So what's happening with the sextile to Pluto and Uranus, with Neptune sextile to Pluto and Uranus, is that they are working with Neptune to sort of direct where you're going in your life. So the first thing that you're going to be experiencing is that one chapter is coming to an end and another one is beginning.
Another thing that you're going to be experiencing is that money isn't working the way that it worked for you before. You know, it's not following the rules. It's not following the formulas. It's not doing the things that you had traditionally or habitually always managed your finances with. In fact, your finances may be undergoing a very powerful, profound, and significant transformation, and that's due to Pluto having moved from Capricorn into the zodiac sign of Aquarius. What's nice about that is that Aquarius is Saturn-ruled, so that you will come to understand what Pluto is trying to communicate to you, but you're not gonna see it right away. And the reason you're not gonna see it right away is because Pluto is associated with the underworld—those journeys down underneath the surface of our world. And so we can't see things clearly when Pluto is very powerful. But what you need to do is trust that you are heading in a better direction than where you have been.
And the reason for this is Uranus. Uranus is at a certain angle in your chart where you really don't understand it. You really don't quite get it. You know that it's the planet of revolution and change, and so it's bringing changes into your life, um, but you may not understand the changes or even want these changes. Um, it's kind of like having mastered a certain level of your education, and then you move on to another level of your education, and the first experience might be that it debunks what you learned before, or what you learned before isn't up to the task of what you are now learning. So we can become befuddled. We can become bewildered.
But what's nice about this is that it won't have the typical rude awakening qualities that Uranus can have, and that's because Uranus is forming a trine to Pluto. So if Pluto is your finances and your finances are transforming in a significant way, they're being led by Uranus, which has taken on a more inventive aspect, a more enlightened aspect—basically a smarter aspect. But Uranus is by its nature progressive. It's future-oriented. So Uranus is actually moving what you do for work and the way that you look at money in a more progressive direction. You're heading into something new. You know, you're learning new things, and you may feel like it's debunking all the things that you knew before, and it's making you feel uncertain, and that's compounded by not being able to feel the ground underneath your feet.
But if you can sort of trust the current of events that are carrying you right now, right? If you can trust this, then that's going to be a good thing. Uranus not only forms a trine to Pluto, but it rules Pluto because Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius. So Uranus is the way to go, and what Uranus is doing is that it's bringing changes in the working pattern of your life, okay? And you may resist them at first or you may question them, but nevertheless, these changes are good for you. What I also like about it is that they aren't going to be radical changes. It's not gonna be all of a sudden, you know, you're gonna change everything you've done before. They're not gonna be radical changes, but because of the trine to Pluto, they're going to be organic changes.
Now, what we're dealing with here is the idea of Aquarius. We're dealing with Aquarius in terms that Pluto is in Aquarius, and it rules over that house of finances in your solar horoscope. But we're also dealing with Aquarius because Uranus is the planetary ruler of Aquarius. So what you might be struggling with right now is that this idea of are you ahead of your time or has the time come? If you're ahead of your time, you may be worried that you're acting too prematurely or that you're too pioneering, that you're too just out there, you know. And so this is what Capricorns often tell themselves when they're involved in changes that they don't really understand.
But the fact of the matter is, because of this trine, the time has come. In other words, what's going on is that the ways that you used to do things habitually or routinely are holding you back. You've outgrown them. The only thing is you've yet to realize that you've outgrown them. So what I'm asking you to do is to trust the current of events. What I'm also asking you to do is to trust the people in your life. Okay, there are people who are coming into your life, maybe coming back into your life, who might see the road ahead a bit more clearly than you do. And what you wanna do is kind of almost treat them like the mouthpieces of the universe. You know, they may have an idea, they may have a suggestion, um, they might have some guidance. Um, maybe it's just a question that gets you to stop and think.
Trust this process in your life and you'll see that where you're going, even though it might be foggy and a bit hard to understand at first, in time—and I would say give yourself a few weeks and a few months—in time, the question that you'll be asking yourself is, how could you have ever done things the way that you used to do them before? Because this new way of doing things is so much more enlightening and fulfilling.
Aquarius
If you're born under Aquarius or you have Aquarius rising, the planet that we absolutely have to talk about is Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Now, Pluto, as you probably already know, is the planet of ordeals and the transformations that arise from them. And so what Pluto can bring into your life can be difficult situations—might be an impasse, it might be a cliffhanger, it might be a predicament or a dilemma, something that really tests you in your gut, okay? It really challenges you to grow as a person. And when you're dealing with an ordeal, you're dealing with something that can be very difficult. It's bigger than you. It feels very critical. It feels very larger than life, and it's also going to involve some amount of suffering. That can be mental anxiety, that can be emotional hurt, that can be spiritual disillusionment, or that can even be physical difficulties that you're dealing with—physical challenges.
These are the ordeals. These are the things that challenge you. Or in the words of Friedrich Nietzsche, as reinterpreted by Kelly Clarkson, it's the idea that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And it was the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, who said that first. So it's this idea that you're going through something which is like, if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. And right now, you may be experiencing more the feeling of it killing you rather than it making you stronger. But what you want to do with Pluto in your own sign is persevere.
Now, there are a lot of things going for you as a result of this alignment of the modern planets, and they may be things that you don't necessarily recognize right away. The first one is, you know Pluto. All right? For the past 12 years, Pluto was in the zodiac sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is a Saturn-ruled sign just like Aquarius is. Now, what it means is that you might not necessarily have enjoyed Pluto's tenure in Capricorn—that it made life supremely difficult, and that it put you through your paces. Nevertheless, you have 12 years of life experience of Pluto. Now, as I said, it was in Capricorn, so it's the sign that's next to yours. It's adjacent. So you don't really see or recognize that energy, but that doesn't mean that that energy didn't give you the benefits of life experience. And now that Pluto is in your own zodiac sign, you can draw upon that life experience. So basically, you're not starting Pluto from scratch. You've had 12 years of Pluto. What you're doing is that you are building on that Plutonian experience.
Now, as I said before, if we were just talking about Pluto in your sign, we would be talking about ordeals and the transformations that arise from them. But what happens to be going on on July 15th and July 18th are these sextiles and trines that are taking place among the modern planets. Pluto trines Uranus on July 18th, and that follows Uranus having sextiled Neptune on July 15th.
Now, what does this mean? Uranus, as we know, is the planet of revolution and change, and revolution and change could be unexpected upsets or rude awakenings or wild curveballs being thrown at you from out of left field. But Uranus changes its disposition when it's either sextiling or trining a planet. And because of its sextile to Neptune, for instance, the disposition of Uranus changes from a revolutionary one to a revelatory one. This is followed by a trine to Pluto in your own zodiac sign. So Uranus is not only revelatory, but it's showing you a new path in your life, a new way for you to go.
And it isn't appearing as an epiphany in the heavens where the clouds part for an instant and you better remember what you saw because those clouds are gonna come back together again and that epiphany is going to disappear just as quickly. What happens is that with Uranus forming a trine to Pluto, you have a sustained epiphany, or in other words, the clouds part in slow motion and they stay there, and you can have your epiphany, and you can study it, and you can see it for what it is. It's not going to disappear again like in the blink of an eye. So this is a good thing. Not only is Uranus opening up a new path for you, but you can see where that's going in a sustained vision. And whenever we're talking about vision, we're talking about the planet Neptune.
So Neptune… Neptune goes from illusory to visionary when it forms a sextile to Pluto in your own zodiac sign. So not only do you have the benefit of a new path in your life and an epiphany in your life, but you also see a vision. You are connecting to your higher purpose. You can see what your next step forward is in life, not because it's a step you should take, but it's a step you want to take. It's something that you see as really bringing meaning into your own life and, being an Aquarius, bringing meaning into the lives of other people.
So what's happening here is after years of feeling like you were wandering in the wilderness—and that might have been the story of your 2008, 2009 until 2020 or even last year, okay—instead of feeling like you were wandering in the wilderness and wondering where you were going to wind up, okay, now you get a sense of moving into something that's more coherent, something that makes more sense to you. Or maybe what you were doing during this period of time of Pluto being in Capricorn is that you built something, you created something, and now you've reached a time where you're saying goodbye to that and moving on to something new and different, something that promises to be more fulfilling.
Whatever your vision of yourself and your life, whatever your idea is of your higher purpose or the reason why you're in the world right now and the impact that you have on people and the impact that people have on you, whatever is going on with those notions, there is a sense of being centered in your life. There is a sense that your time has come, that there's no more paying your dues. There's no more making sacrifices. There's no more, you know, taking on responsibilities that feel meaningless and thankless—that the responsibilities have meaning, that you're heading in a direction that you're meant to go, that you can see what you're going to become, that your future is apparent to you.
And this is very important for people born under Aquarius or who have Aquarius rising. A lot of times we thought—we talk about our authentic self. You know, “I'm acting and living authentically,” and that is a present self, right? Aquarius is very devoted to its future self, okay? It sees its future self as the authentic self, and it becomes very careful about the decisions it makes and the choices it makes, 'cause it doesn't wanna mess up the path to that future self. And so a lot of times Aquarians will sacrifice or they'll toil away in service to that future self that they see appearing one day. And right now, that future self has appeared. You can see who that is, and you can recognize yourself in it. So you are moving into your future right now.
Uranus, because it trines Pluto, is supporting you in this endeavor, but Uranus is also the modern ruler of Pluto in Aquarius, so it's absolutely and particularly showing you the way. But this isn't a future that has been mapped out ahead of time. Indeed, it's a future that you'll be discovering as you go along. And by being an Aquarius or Aquarius rising, and because Uranus is in the zodiac sign of Gemini, you will have good company. There will be plenty of like-minded people who will be traveling alongside you, and this is where you really need to appreciate the fact that people are your most valuable resource when you're born under an air sign. So treat them as your fellow travelers. Treat them as the mouthpieces of the universe. Treat them as people who benefit your life and that you benefit in turn. And if you do all of those things, not only will you live according to the vision that you have of your future and yourself, you will also embody it.
Pisces
If you're born under Pisces or you have Pisces rising, we can't ignore the fact that Uranus, the planet of revolution and change, has just entered that part of your solar chart that pertains to home, family, and roots. What this might have brought along with it would have been upheaval, or at least stress in that particular area of your life. It might have resulted in you relocating or having to move. It might have resulted in you discovering halfway through a remodel that things were going to be a lot more expensive than you originally projected, or it might have brought changes to you in your home life, changes in the lives of loved ones, or the people who are closest to you.
And so what you may be feeling during this period of time is like the wheel has been spun—that if you were on top of the world, you're now at the bottom of it. But what can also happen with Uranus, if you were at the bottom of the wheel, you might also be moving to the top of it. What we're dealing with here are habitual ways of dealing with the idea of money and security in your life, and that these beliefs of yours, these practices of yours, these formulas of yours—strategies, let's throw in the word strategy as well—have been knocked upside down. They don't make sense anymore. They're not working in the way that you used to work with them, they are perplexing you, and the rules of the game are changing. And so this may make you feel very much like you're on your back foot, like you're losing the things that made you feel stable, and you're losing the things that made you feel secure, and you might even be reinforcing some of these beliefs and practices.
Now, if this were the only thing that was going on, then this would've been very much a feeling like Dorothy running to her house and the cyclone coming and picking it up and taking it off Lord knows where, okay? This sense of this cyclonic fury, which is what Uranus can feel like when it hits your horoscope for the first time at this particular angle in a long time. So this feeling of being at odds and not knowing what comes next may be something that's filling your life right now.
But Uranus crossing over the solar fourth house of your solar horoscope isn't the only thing that's going on. What's also going on is that it's forming a trine to Pluto in the zodiac sign of Aquarius, which happens to be at a very sensitive angle of your chart, which is what we call the 12th house in the solar horoscope. Now, the 12th house is famous for the skeletons in the closet. This is what I call the epigenetics house or the secrets of the family house in astrology. It's all of those things that happened in the past that have been carried on down through the generations to where you are right now.
That can be a feeling of… Let's say there was a pattern of alcohol or drug abuse in the family, or maybe there were issues around depression or addiction to gambling. This might have been something that started generations ago and has been passed down through the family. This might be a psychological predisposition, as I said, like depression or other psychological proclivities that have been passed down through the generations. What it can also represent is myths that families have told themselves or have embraced.
And so, for instance, let's say your family a generation or two, or maybe even three ago, faced disruptions in their home and family. Maybe they even faced a catastrophe or something along those lines that was financial or physical. This may have reverberated down through the family line, and so the idea of something being suddenly made unstable or insecure in the home may paralyze you with fear. It may be something that… You don't know what to do, you know. That it's something that had ruined your family before, and it looks like it's going to ruin you now. And so these are things that can happen when a planet strikes us in the 12th house, which is a very vulnerable place. We can have habitual responses or intergenerational habitual responses based on things that frightened a family member, beliefs that were passed down, stories in which things had gone terribly wrong, and now it's a good idea to make safe choices, or to watch what you do, or to count your money, or to get a home that's modest but is one that you can, you know, sustain but isn't too much of itself. You don't want the home to call attention to itself from the fates. You know, something which can kind of create a kind of bunker mentality, a survivor mentality, rather than a thriving mentality.
And so what happens when you have Uranus trigger something, either from your personal experience or the experience of your family, is that it can throw you for a loop. But what's nice about this is that Pluto, which is in the 12th house, which represents those family secrets and those skeletons in the closet—Pluto is forming a trine to Uranus. All right? Pluto is in Aquarius, which is an air sign, and Uranus is in Gemini, which is an air sign. And air deals with thought. It deals with the way we think. It deals with the way we reason, and it deals with the way that we speak, articulate, and it deals with relationships.
So what's happening here is that you might have been thrown for a loop by Uranus entering this angle of your chart, but you're not left defenseless. Actually, there might be a greater good to what's going on, and the greater good might be to liberate yourself from these phobias or these stories or these fears that have been passed down. Do people go through difficult experiences? Absolutely, you know. But when a family has experienced a difficult experience, particularly intergenerationally, it can be a little bit like the game of Telephone, where you've got 12 kids and someone whispers in the ear of one kid, you know, and they whisper in the following kid's ear and the following kid's ear and the following kid's ear until the person who's the last one announces what the message is, and it's a question as to whether it's the right message or not. Oftentimes it's not, and everyone laughs because that's the game.
Well, in a different way, when something is passed down, it can become distorted or misinterpreted or misrepresented so that we can live with a fear or an anxiety that becomes more prohibitive and curtailing of our life rather than something that sustains our life or is educational to it. You know, like, “How do I not have this happen again?” So it becomes more a story of what not to do and how to hide or deflect rather than a story of, “If this is what happens, this is what you do to surmount it. This is what you do to solve the crisis or the difficulty.”
Another planet that's playing into this is your ruling planet, Neptune. And Neptune is right now in that part of your solar chart that pertains to finances. That's why issues dealing with security and stability and finances are being triggered right now. But because of the sextile and the trine, what's happening is that you're actually in a position where you're kind of laying the ghosts to rest. Okay? You're putting away the skeletons in the closet. You're bringing more of a sense of being active and present in the world rather than things that have colored your views for maybe generations. Um, so the personal struggles of the previous generation can be sort of warning tales, but something miraculous happens when we travel the same path that those people traveled, you know.
Um, let's say at the age of 47, a parent of yours faced a huge crisis, and you reach the age of 47 with the expectation that you'll suffer or experience a similar crisis, and you don't, but you can see what led to that crisis. You can see what that parent went through, and you can feel both an empathy and a sympathy for it, but you can also see that your circumstances are different. And that's kind of what's happening right now with the sextile to Neptune. Neptune sextiles both Pluto (which is trining Uranus) and Uranus (which is being trined by Pluto). And so you're having a “That was then, this is now” moment in your life, um, where you can sort of make… You can see the difference between what happened before and those people and what's happening to you right now and what's happening in the present moment.
So not only does traveling down the same path allow us to understand the people who came before in our family history and what they faced, but it also gets us to understand that what we're facing is different. And so what's going on here is what I would sort of describe to you as a gentle debunking of certain family myths—that you don't have to be seized by panic or fear or anxiety when you see yourself living through something that had been such a challenge or such an area of difficulty for previous generations of your family. You're you, and your circumstances, your present circumstances, aren't the same, and it doesn't have to have the same result.
So what's beautiful about this is that not only do you outgrow a myth, you know, but at the same time, you become educated as to what your circumstances are, and you become empowered. Neptune in Aries right now is really putting the emphasis on you and you being present in your life right now. And this is what's going to allow you to sort of lay those family ghosts to rest and to live the life that you want to live and the life that you feel capable of living now.
