Transcript

Amanda: All right, my friends. Today we are in for a treat. We have the delightful Richard James joining us. He is an evolutionary astrologer, and he is the host of Starcast Weekly on Gaia. And he's been doing this since January of 2026, and the show is totally taking off, which is awesome. Yeah. And Gaia, for those of you who don't know, is the largest conscious streaming service with 10,000 titles available in 185 countries. And Richard is really representing a lot of the astro- astrological conversation that's happening over there, which is fantastic. Yeah. And today, we get to hang out with him. And just a little bit more about him, just he had a, a series of major life transitions, which we know s- that's often what brings people to astrology. And so he began d- diving deeper into astrology and tarot, and now he is helping thousands of people with the wisdom and knowledge that he's gained through his studies and his application and his practice. So Richard, I'm so happy you're here on the Astrology Hub Podcast. I also found out that he was an Inner Circle member for many, many years, which is amazing.

Richard: I was. First, thank you so, so, so much. I'm so excited to be here, and this is such a manifestation for me. Um, looking back at my life and where my studies and learnings began and how I was evolving, Astrology Hub was such a central part of my life as an Inner Circle member. And me and my best friend, Andy, at the time were, like, watching all of the different episodes in the podcast just to, like, soak up and learn and listen and, and just connect with other astrology lovers. And we've made friends from being part of the Inner Circle, like, group and everything. Like, it's been a huge part of our journey. And he would look at me and be like, “Do you ever think one day you'd wanna be on Astrology Hub?” I was like, “Yes, like, I would love to do this.” And I look at today, and I'm like, I cannot believe we're filming this today. On… This is the new moon in Cancer, and it's, like, so powerful for me in my own chart with my n- my South Node, actually. So it's, like, such an important day for me to be here.

Amanda: Wow. Well, we're so grateful you're here, too. And we're gonna be talking today about the Nodal axis shift that is coming up here very soon. Yes. And I know you're, you're very passionate about this topic. So maybe we start there. Why, why do you feel like this, this axis shift that we are on the brink of is so important for us to be paying attention to?

Richard: There's a lot that's gonna happen. Like, the next 18 months are really important because, first of all, as an evolutionary astrologer, we really pay close attention to our natal North and South Node. When I work with the transit North and South Node, I like to reference them as part of the pulse of evolution. And this is where the pulse is happening in our life. Yes, we can track it collectively, but you can also track how you are being invited in this very moment to evolve.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And what's really interesting is as we look at our life as a deeper journey of the evolution of our consciousness, Aquarius plays a very pivotal role. And a part of that is something that I've… I talked, um, I talked about this back in March, um, at Gaia's Immersion Conference, which was the s- dynamic of deconditioning. I call it this cosmic deconditioning process. It is stripping away everything that we think we are. It's stripping away the labels. It's stripping away the conditioned patterns of reality. And this is a part of the cosmic journey that is unfolding. When we look at our zodiac and we look at the archetypes as how they play out, Aquarius is so important when it comes to the evolution of consciousness because it's helping us really and truly dive deeper into the constructs of identity and what that even means. What does the collective actually represent? What does that even look like? How do I show up in the collective? Mm. What is my role? What is my purpose? All of these really deep, deep questions come up, and I feel like we're navigating such an important chapter because Pluto is officially in Aquarius. We're gonna have a Pluto North Node conjunction coming up in 2027. Mm. The South Node of Neptune is also in Aquarius, which I think is also very important.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And I feel like we're navigating something very deep within our, our- our species, as human beings, as a, at a conscious level, I feel like we're being invited to really assess our ideals. How are we evolving as a collective? Where are we navigating? Where are we heading? And I feel like this North Node journey is really going to invite us to reflect just at this level on these ideas, and we can already see it today. Like, we could see these themes that are showing up, but it's about to get a whole lot louder with this North Node coming into Aquarius.

Amanda: Okay. I love thinking about how we're weaving through time, right? Yeah. Like, when we move into a new energy, it's not like we just completely leave the last one behind. Oh, definitely. We take gifts of it, right? And we weave that in. Yes. So what would you, what would you say we're threading through from the previous nodal… And we're talking about the, the nodes of the Moon. Yes. So-

Richard: Yes …

Amanda: what do you think we, we learned

Richard: Um, well, this is really interesting because I've been really reflecting on this looking at people personally in my life about how… ‘Cause one of the best ways to really understand astrology is to observe it in your own personal life, and really watch things happen with the people that are around you. And I really feel like this South Node in Virgo journey was very challenging for a lot of people that are very practical, very pragmatic, very linear, very task-oriented. And I look at people that are really still struggling with understanding the natural rhythm and flow-

Amanda: Mm …

Richard: in this life that we're navigating, to learn how to have trust, to learn how to have faith, which is the pulse of that North Node in Pisces. Um, you know, I think one of the invitations we've been navigating is how to have more unconditional love for those that are around us. How can we embrace those that are around us, even if they think differently than us, even if they believe differently than us? And I see that that has been an obstacle that we've been navigating, and we can see this tension with that North and South Node. Um, I think one of the biggest, um- re- Uh, biggest opportunities I would also bring up to the table is I think for those of us who allowed ourselves to surrender, and when I say surrender, this doesn't mean giving up. Surrender requires the space of recognizing that I don't have control, and I sometimes like to look at life like a lazy river.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And it's almost like when you're in a lazy river and you sit in your tube, if you just allow yourself to sit there, the lazy river will carry you. That is very much the Piscean natural rhythm of life. Now, that South Node in Virgo are gonna be those people that are trying to swim against the lazy river. And I always say this as a joke, like you could try that, but you're gonna get absolutely nowhere, and you're actually gonna get exhausted and tired and drained and defeated. And sometimes because we're dealing with Virgo, we get sick.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And so these are all these themes that I think, and I've noticed this in the past 18 months, about individuals that have been struggling with different health issues, that have… And, and we look back about, oh, you know, what have I been resisting? What have I been controlling too much? Where do I need to take care of myself better? Where have I been self-sacrificing? And there's something about this axis that I think is very challenging for people because I think flow is f- is very hard. There's a practice called, uh, wu wei, um, which is very… It's a very beautiful practice where we learn how to find that easy path, and it has so much to do with sinking beneath the surface and being able to find that flow. And that's been the big, big themes for us, that I think if we carry this into this next nodal shift, I feel like it can be incredibly invigorating for us if we allow for ourselves to naturally accept, to have trust, to have faith, to surrender to what is showing up for us right now, to try our best. And this is gonna be a big theme I wanna talk about, which is the idea of becoming more objective and allowing for ourselves to take that step back. Because it's so easy for us to get so emotionally involved or, or for us to want to try to make this outcome happen a specific way. If we try to do that, it's… we're gonna face a lot of resistance.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And, and identity. It's gonna be an identity journey. It's gonna be a big… The big concept of identity is, is showing up for us.

Amanda: Mm. And you're saying… Okay. First of all, what you just said was brilliant about-

Richard: Mm …

Amanda: the Virgo South Node, and how where we are in resistance to the flow of life- It's gonna show up as exhaustion. It's gonna show up as potential health issues in our bodies, and that-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: the antidote to that is the Piscean letting go, letting the water take us where it- Yeah leads. And like you said, I mean, y- we literally just had a ceremony in the inner circle where all these themes were, we were talking about. Because it's, it's so present right now, especially with the feeling, like not, not that we're on a lazy river, but that we're in a raging river, and that it's going very fast, right? Like the Hopi prophecy.

Richard: Yes.

Amanda: That river is going very, very fast, and it- it's very natural to wanna hold on to the sides and clutch

Richard: 100% …

Amanda: for dear life.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: But that the invitation really is to surrender-

Richard: 100% … and let

Amanda: go. Yeah.

Richard: Allow yourself to go down this river, this rapid river. Allow yourself to naturally navigate this. Um, but it requires a level of willingness, and allowing-ness, and receptivity for change, and that's very, very difficult.

Amanda: Very difficult, and very scary. And I, you know, one of the words that helps me with that is the word adventure.

Richard: Yes.

Amanda: Because when I think about it as an adventure, it's like, “Okay, well, this might be kind of fun.” right?

Richard: Totally. Like, your soul signed up for this. Right. Like, you signed up for this moment. Like, when we look at evolutionary astrology, we are mapping out incarnations where the soul has been navigating very specific themes. The themes that you are navigating right now are not random.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: And the moment we can surrender to this pathway of, wow, this is not foreign to me, maybe a part of my soul's journey is the acceptance of this flow that is happening, it almost gives you that space to say, “Well, maybe this isn't the adventure. Maybe this is the chapter for me just to say, you know what? I'm just gonna enjoy whatever this pathway is, whatever it looks like.” And finding that adventure, even in the challenging moments. Right. Finding it even in the moments where emotionally it could be hard and difficult. It's still a huge adventure for growth for you.

Amanda: Well, and if you think about it, what is, is there even one interesting adventure without some adversity? Right? Like-

Richard: Oh, agreed.

Amanda: Right? Like, it's just, it's, then it's actually not quite an adventure. It's, it's-

Richard: Yes …

Amanda: a little … more contained than an adventure, right?

Richard: Totally. Totally.

Amanda: Okay. So we're weaving, we're, we're taking some of the gifts of that Virgo-Pisces axis. Yeah. And we're weaving that into the next chapter that, where we're, we're gonna be tapping into the Leo-Aquarius energies.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: Which you're saying is the collective pulse,

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: And what, to you, are the major themes of that axis?

Richard: So let's start with, like, the south node in Leo. That's… I, I think it's easier to break it down for ourselves to look at it from this perspective. And, you know, I wanna just emphasize this in the beginning because I feel like a lot of people tend to have a, a negative perception of the south node, and I, and I wanna really have a more gentle, soft perspective of our south node, because we need to understand that that is a part of, of how the soul has come to understand itself. We don't wanna throw that away. We don't want to remove that from the equation. We need to understand. Sometimes it's almost like through looking at things through that filter, we can actually understand parts of ourself that we need to work through or work on so that we can press forward. At the same token, you can access gifts that are latent within the soul. And within Leo is your creative potential, like, your creative magic. This is one of the most creative, um, signs and, and placements for me. When you have somebody that… Just anyone that has a natal south node in Leo, there's so much magic that was within you. And in evolutionary astrology, Jeffrey Wolf Green used to call this the, the placement of creative self-actualization. It's the purpose of creatively discovering who we are, as that is the basis of what makes us feel emotionally secure and safe in this world.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: So when we look at this from a collective perspective, what I wanna pay close attention to is how are, or how is the collective, like, let's say leadership, for an example, authority figures, how are they showing up? Are we dealing with, you know, at a shadow level, different levels of narcissistic personalities? Are we dealing with people that are trying to soak up so much attention? Let's talk about celebrity culture, for an example. I think we're gonna notice that when the south node navigates Leo, we're gonna see that this is going to become very, very visible to us. And what's happening is, is that there is an intention with the north node in Aquarius to shift away from one's need to be validated by the public, one's need to be seen by others, one needs to feel like my sense of worthy or purpose in this world comes because I need everybody to compliment me, I need everybody to give me some sort of credit. And I feel like one of the things I've been saying… And in, in Starcast Weekly, I did a whole segment on this, where I said the people that are gonna struggle, just like I said with Virgo, the people that are gonna struggle are those that are truly seeking exterior validation in order to feel enough, or are overcompensating- in order to get the compliments or the recognition, whether that's in a relationship, whether that's in your workspace. You wanna be very aware of this because the reality is when the South Node is in Virgo, we're not going to get it. And I don't mean this- In Leo. Leo, sorry. South,

Amanda: Leo.

Richard: Yeah. Yeah, sorry. Yeah. The South Node of Leo, sorry. We're not going to get that validation to the capacity that we need. There is, there is something about this that is actually encouraging us to step into more of that, “I don't need that opinion. I don't need that approval. I don't need that recognition. I'm able to source that from within myself.” And so one of the things or exercises that I really encourage people to work with during the South Node in Leo is our solar plexus and our heart chakra. What's going on here? Our solar plexus is the color yellow and has so much to do with our self-worth, our self-esteem, our self-confidence. In some practices, people will call this, uh, the location of where our inner child is. This is a great chapter for us, and I'd invite us to reflect upon this. Am I carrying or projecting any of my own inner child wounds in my external environment? And what's happening is I'm hoping that other people are going to nurture that part of me that they can't.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: You know, that's a big chapter here, and then when we deal with our heart chakra, again, there comes to this part where be- And I say the heart chakra because Leo has so much to do with our heart. And what happens here is there's a call to action for us, where I would encourage us to really find more soothing within our own heart center for ourselves. You know, what happens within the Leo archetype, I tend to find people that love, I call it love like a fire hose. Leo energy has this capacity to love, like when you turn a fire hose on, it blasts you in the face. Like, it's, like, that powerful. That's the potential of the love of Leo. Leo. What happens is, is that it is not often reciprocated.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And so the obstacle and challenge comes back to where am I not being reciprocated? Where is my energy not being reciprocated by the people that are around me? And so what happens here is that North Node in Aquarius is pushing us into this more of this objective space, that I don't necessarily need that. And this doesn't say I don't care, because as much as Aquarius can be a rebel, being a rebel can also be a shadow quality as well. And so there's this fine dance between becoming subjective and becoming objective, that dance between these two worlds, and that has so much to do with Leo and Aquarius. So again, collectively, I wanna pay close attention to our definition of leadership, our definition of authority, our definition of identity, branding, celebrity culture, but also, like, how does that trickle down into your personal life? And I'll use this an example. Let's say you love, you know, purses, and you're buying f- bags for yourself. Like, why am I investing in these items? Why am I buying the brands that I'm buying? Am I buying it because it gives me a better sense of self? And that's very much that South Node Leo. Like, where, where am I… Why am I doing these actions? Where am I seeking? Where am I performing? Like, how am I showing up right now? And am I doing this because it feels authentic to me, or am I doing this because I'm hoping somebody's going to recognize me?

Amanda: Hmm.

Richard: And my challenge always is with the South Node in Leo is, when will you recognize yourself? When will you look at yourself in the mirror and recognize you? Because the Leo and Aquarius journey is about the fact that every single person that's listening, you and I and everyone here, has a beautiful source of magic within us, every single person. And our goal and the intention of that Leo and Aquarius axis is to share that magic, not because I need attention, not because I need recognition, but because I know it's gonna make a difference, because I know it's gonna help other people, 'cause I know it's gonna help the community, because I know, with evolutionary astrology terms, it's going to help evolve consciousness, and that's a huge, huge part of this. So I feel like we're gonna notice that identity. That's a big thing that I'm thinking about. How am I self-actualizing myself in this lifetime? Like, what does your life look like? One of the things that I tell clients to do is make a list. Like, let's really be honest with ourselves. You know, Scorpio has a square to Leo for a reason. Scorpio challenges us to be very emotionally honest with ourself, and there's a reason why Scorpio challenges Leo in this sense, and it's like I want us to sit down with ourselves and ask ourselves, “What's going on in my inner world? Do I like how I'm showing up? Does it feel authentic? Or do I feel like my identity that I am s- currently embracing or embodying is just a creation of someone else's conditioning?” That's like a huge part of that south node in Leo.

Amanda: You know, Richard, I'm thinking about how much social media plays a role in-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: in this, because it can be such a place where that part of you, us-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: that wants the external validation or that's l- comparing and looking at other people and what they have, and what you're talking about is showing up as authentically ourselves as possible. Yeah. And knowing the true expression of who we are is the magic, is the medicine, is the antidote.

Richard: 100%. Yeah, exactly. We're, we're, we're, without, like we would be effectively blocking evolution from unfolding. We would be blocking the opportunity for things to continue growing. And-

Amanda: Right …

Richard: what's interesting is that within Aquarius, you know, Jeffrey used to call Aquarius the process of individuation. And that's a term that I really like. When I first started to watch all of his old tapes, I literally would sit down with some of these words that he would say, and I'd be like, th- it feels for me like a, like a download, and I need to sit with this and be like, what does that mean to me? To, to individuate from-

Amanda: Mm-hmm

Richard: how I've been conditioned and what I've been told to believe.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: And that is the process truly of authenticity and uncovering that truth, is by stripping away what I've been told to believe. And what's so wild is that we don't take enough time to reflect on this. This is the process of, like, self-inquiry. Yeah. And so there's a practice in the Vedas that they talk about called neti neti. It's N-E-T-I N-E-T-I. And this is a concept or a practice of what you do is you sit with yourself, and as you're meditating, you ask yourself, “Who am I?” Well, my name's Amanda. Well, that's not who you are. That's just your name. And you constantly go through these parts of yourself to truly start to strip away from the labels and the conditions of literally the physicality of the world that we were born into. Mm-hmm. That's not to say, again, we have that Leo part of us. We're not escaping the world. What we're trying to do is to discover who we truly are when we were t- if we were to strip all of that away. That is your magic. There's something there within you, within all of us. And I think when we look back at our lives when we're 80 or 90- The question is not gonna be so much about like, was I successful at this? Did I do this? Did I do this? I think a lot of people are gonna ask themselves, did I live my life or did I live my life in accordance to what other people wanted me to do?

Amanda: Yeah.

Richard: Or who to be.

Amanda: Yeah.

Richard: And that's a big part of all of this, and it takes this consc- and I think that's a big part of this axis. A big part of it has to come down to allowing for myself to become in it like that embodied version of truth for me, what that looks like. And when you do that, you're making the greatest impact on the collective possible.

Amanda: Mm. You know, Richard, I've already started noticing, uh, myself responding to what feels like a very old paradigm of leadership.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: And there's times where I'll be listening to a, quote unquote, “leader” speak, and I'm craving for them to just talk normal. Like, to just… N- and I don't mean normal, I just mean, like, have a real conversation. Like-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: can you, can you have a real response to that person's question? Can you have a real dialogue with the people? And, and, and I feel like we really respond to the leaders and the celebrities that do show that side of themselves, you know, that-

Richard: Yes

Amanda: the, the realness. Yeah.

Richard: I th- we're gonna notice that more and more and more because what's gonna happen, I feel, is that especially in 2027 as Pluto comes into its conjunction with the North Node, Pluto by transit can expose a lot of things, expose the shadows, expose the unconscious patterns and wounds that exist. I think we're gonna notice that that is going to be very, very common, is we'll be aware of who is truly embracing authenticity versus who's playing a role. Mm. Who's performing. Mm. I don't think performance is going to work that much anymore.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: Um, I think that culture is going to slowly kind of fade away as we're gonna notice that more people are stepping into authenticity, because that is truly how they're gonna make a difference in the community, how they're gonna make a difference in the collective. And I love what you just said, by the way, about the idea of the, the inability to just have a genuine, real heart-to-heart conversation with someone.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: And I, I realized this myself when my mom passed away. Mm. That no one could ever… No one knew how to have a conversation with me. Like, no one could do it. Like, their level of conversation was just, like, they were so afraid of, of saying something wrong or, you know, I don't wanna, I don't want him to feel emotional, I don't want him to do this. And what's happening is, is that as Uranus is in Gemini, I, I call this the revolution of our ability to connect with each other.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And what's happening here is that ironically, Uranus, in modern astrology, rules this North Node. And I think this is a distinction that you're bringing to the conversation that's really important. Because a part of the deconditioning process is how we relate to each other. How do we conversate with each other? How are we feeling that sort of in, in, in our perception of the world that we live in? It needs to change.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: It needs to shift. And I feel like we're gonna notice this as, as I've noticed it with Uranus already in Gemini, the way in which I am wanting to connect and communicate and navigate with people, I could feel the shift. I have Gemini energy in my chart, so I feel it even more personally. But it's like we're in this space where… And this is why I call it, or I called it back at, at the Immersion Conference Cosmic Deconditioning, because the planets are so beautifully orchestrating right now an opportunity for us, I think, to understand unity consciousness. I really truly feel there is a cosmic invitation unfolding for us, and a big part of that is we really need to ask ourselves how are we connecting and communicating? Do, am I even real? Like, are we utili- I mean, think about it this way. Like, how many people are using AI to communicate with each other nowadays? Like- Yeah … they're like, “I don't know how to respond to this text message, so let me just upload it to AI to tell me how to connect to this person.” And I'm like, how… We're losing. And, and the thing is, Aquarius has parts of it that has to do with technology and innovation. But maybe it's a rethinking, and maybe we need to actually come back and locate a little bit of that South Node in Leo in our heart centers to lead a little bit more with our hearts, to have those genuine interactions. And I think that's a big part of what we need our leaders to do. Like, I have talked with business owners about this transit that we're going through, and one of the most important things I say is, “Don't forget to lead with your heart.” You have to lead with your heart as we navigate this right now. Because it's gonna… It can be so easy for us to just wanna, like, go into the AI approach of wanting to do these things. But you have to ask yourself, is that really the best approach right now? Is that the heart-centered approach? We cannot forget how important that South Node in Leo actually does show up for us. It's a part of our evolution.

Amanda: Hmm. I… It seems to me like it's really hard for people to be in their heart. Yes. They, they, like, they don't know how. Yeah. Like, even if they want to, they don't necessarily know how to access it and express and speak and be from that place. Yeah. So what, what would you say to people that are just like, “Okay, I he- I get this theoretically, but how do I do that?”

Richard: Yeah. I, I love this question so much because, personally speaking, I have a lot of planets in Cancer as well. And something that I've noticed in my life is that I always find myself in positions with people that struggle accessing their emotional body- Yeah ……or struggle to embrace or embody their divine feminine.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And what's happening is, is that's scary, 'cause that requires vulnerability.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: That requires a level of intimacy. And when I say intimacy, I'm talking about learning how to be okay with who you are when we strip everything away. It's ironic. We're really talking about all elements of our fixed signs here as we're dancing through this, 'cause this feels very Scorpio-Taurus for me. And it's interesting, because the more we allow for ourselves to look at it like you're not alone. Like, what you feel… And I promise you, I've had such a beautiful opportunity over the past seven months of my life of meeting so many different beautiful human beings- And we are all so similar. And I had a beautiful opportunity. There's a lovely, lovely, uh… She's a curandera, which is a healer, um, from Nicaragua. Her name's Grandmother Flor de Mayo, and her and I were having a conversation, and I was talking to her about the idea of… Or she had asked the question, like, “If you could give advice to the children today…” She's in her 70s, and she's like, “If g- if you could give advice to the children, what would you, what would you say based upon understanding cosmology and your evolutionary journey?” And I said, “I wish we as human beings would begin to see each other as one and not separate from each other.” And the thing is, the cure to accessing our heart is truly to recognize that what you're feeling, someone else is feeling, and you're not alone. And if you could just allow yourself to be vulnerable and take that risk to open up and maybe ask for help or to talk about your emotions, you'll quickly realize that you have an army around you. You have an army of cosmic soldiers that support you, that hear you, that are listening to you. And I think we need to realize, and I think that's a big part of the Aquarian archetype as well, is to recognize that we are not going to be abandoned. We are not going to be isolated. We are not going to be ostracized from the community for feeling our emotions. The challenge is, is that we have not led, or this chapter of civilization has led away from the heart. And what's happening is is a part of this cosmic deconditioning is, going back to the planetary nodes, is I'm watching that planetary, the planetary north node of Pluto in Cancer. There is an effort to return to the matriarchy, an effort to return to the divine feminine, an effort to return into our emotional body to make it feel safe enough again. The problem is we don't feel safe And so we have to learn to feel safe within ourselves, to learn to feel safe within our own hearts. But we also have to recognize, like I said, that as much as we could feel so different, “I'm so different than everybody around me. No one thinks the way that I do,” you may… There may be parts of you that are so different, and that's beautiful. I want to respect your individuality, but I'm telling you there's something inside of you that is inside of every single person around you.

Amanda: It's so true, Richard. Oh my gosh, In terms of cosmic deconditioning, I love this term-

Richard: Yeah

Amanda: Richard. It's awesome. The thought that we're the only one, that we're the o- and, and the thought that we're wrong and bad and that if we do share the truth, if we do share who we are, that we will be rejected and abandoned-

Richard: Mm …

Amanda: and all those things. Yeah. And really, it's the opposite.

Richard: 100%.

Amanda: And so I think-

Richard: Totally …

Amanda: I do think there's some Leo Aquarius lessons in that alone.

Richard: To- and I think that's the gift of Leo, is that when you don't strive to be the spotlight and you recognize that just by being your authentic self, that makes you in the position of the spotlight.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: And there's something about this within Leo where I don't have to overcompe- I don't have to… I… The, the, the concept of the sup- I call it the superiority inferiority effect, where I have to make myself feel specific, where I make myself lesser in order to gain that attention. When you step into a place of authenticity, and you are in a space where you are owning your own personal truth, you don't overcompensate for anything. You are okay with the parts of yourself, the way that you show up, the way that you are received. You're okay with it, because I'm not seeking the external validation. And you'll notice that when you do this, your message, your words, your craft, your art, your magic, or whatever it is that you're sharing is received by others, that other people look and they're like, “Wow, this is amazing,” or, “It's, it's changed my life,” or, “This is how it's showing up for me.” And I think there's a big part of it that we wanna be aware of those shadows that can show up for us, um, and how that can manifest. And so, one of the things I always say is, like, basic to… with astrology is, like, look at your own charts and look to see where Leo and Aquarius are. These themes that we're talking about, how, how are they showing up in my life? And like I said, when it comes to what I call that pulse of evolution, I'm being invited through my south node wherever it shows up in my chart. Let's say it's your seventh house. There's a, there's an invitation for me to assess how am I potentially projecting or asking my partner to validate me in ways that they cannot do this? You know, when it comes to my love languages, am I seeking words of affirmation, and I feel disappointed because I'm projecting some sort of expectation in my partner, and they're unable to meet that part of me? And when that north node is in your first house, there's something about this that is, like, really stepping into the part of you that is so beautiful and so free from any of that. I don't, I don't need any of that. I don't need any of the validation. Like, I am owning… I don't know why this is coming to me. I… and 'cause Aquarius has so much to do with sometimes of that feeling like I'm different, feeling like I'm an alien. Embrace that. Embrace the parts of you that feel that way. I don't need my partner to do that for me. But the obstacle can be that I might navigate some relationship challenges and difficulties if I am expecting my partner to show up that way.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: If I'm anticipating my partner to do this. So really looking at your own chart to ask yourself, where does Leo show up in my chart, and where am I being invited to really reflect on these Leonian themes? How can I access my heart center and my solar plexus more deeply and more authentically in that area of my chart? Whatever that looks like to you. How can I give to myself? How can I really source, uh, the potential projections and really give that to myself? And then with that north node in Aquarius, it's really asking of us, like again, what is your contribution? Like, if I were to self-actualize in this human experience, i- in a space of truth and authenticity, what would that look like, and how could I help others? It's, it's a beautiful opportunity, I feel like, for us, and I feel like collectively- I'm optimistic. I'd like to say that I'm optimistic about what this could have in store for us, and I think it is up to the collective will to see how, you know, society show up with the potential of this energy.

Amanda: Okay. How do the eclipses-

Richard: Yes …

Amanda: so obviously the Leo-Aquarius axis is also where we're, we're gonna be having eclipses for the next-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: 18 months. So how, how do you see those activating or instigating th- these themes even more?

Richard: Yeah. So f- the first thing, you know, I, I always like to say, these are like portals that open up, that are beautiful opportunities for change, beautiful opportunities for us to grow, take massive leaps of faith, to totally transform or alchemize our lives. So, like, that's the first thing I always like to say. And personally, I like to pay attention two weeks before the eclipses start and two weeks after the eclipses end. I like to really watch these windows.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: I call them these, like, this is when the portal opens.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: So really pay close attention to these themes. So the first thing that I would say is look at your own personal chart, and look at the house that these eclipses are falling in. That's the first thing that I would do. And if you're not 100% sure, start to learn about what that house's theme is, because that house theme, let's say it's your fourth house and your 10th house, 'cause whenever you have an eclipse, it's always gonna be the houses that oppose each other.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: And what happens is those themes are going to be magnified. They're going to be illuminated for you, and that is where you are being invited to navigate these changes. And so if it's our fourth house and it's our 10th house, we know that this is gonna be a soul that is being invited to truly, one, you're accessing and entering your emotional body. There is something that wants to happen within you, your understanding of what home means to you. You're also understanding what authority means to you at the same token. How are you showing up in this world? How are you presenting yourself? How are you being received by people? How are you showing up in your work and your career? What does your legacy even look like? Does the direction of your work and your career, for an example, truly support who you are? How many of us are working a career path right now that that's what we've been told to be? Go be a doctor. Go be a nurse. Go do this. This is what you're supposed to do. How many of us take that path 'cause that's the path that has been shown to us? This is the… This would be an eclipse that could be eye-opening for us. I don't wanna do that anymore. That doesn't light my heart up with fire and joy. That doesn't excite me anymore. And so this is a journey for people that have this axis illuminated for us to step into what that could look like, to maybe make those changes, make those risks, get out of those work opportunities, get into the space that feels like it truly lights you up with, passion and joy, and you feel like you're living in authenticity. And so understanding where the house is, you ask yourself, how am I being challenged to strip away what I've known about this area of my life? How am I being invited to remove or look at how I've been conditioned with these beliefs, with these ideals, with these principles? And how am I being invited to replace them with something new, and replace them with a part of myself that is authentic, that feels like this is me? And the other thing that I would say is, especially because that south node is in Leo, is don't forget that life is not supposed to be so serious either. So there's also something about this for me that Leo does have… It's, it's the sun in the tarot, for an example. It's so much about lightness. It's so much about fun and joy. But my question is, have we lost that? And are we really living in that space of the sun, in radiance, in joy? So these are all questions and themes, like what roles have you been playing? You know, and are those roles really what you wanna keep doing in this lifetime? And you really, again, wanna look at what area of your chart this is showing up in.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And these are questions to kind of contemplate as you navigate these eclipses. And like I said, really study the house that you're in or where this eclipse is falling, and then really sit with these Aquarian and Leonian themes, and ask yourself, how am I being invited to step into this right now? What is this portal presenting for me?

Amanda: Mm. Richard, I have to just mention here, we actually created a free guide for-

Richard: Mm-hmm …

Amanda: our community about the eclipses that are happening in August. Yes. So if you wanna s- know where it's happening, which houses it's happening in, and then what themes those houses represent for you personally, you all can go get that free guide. It's astrologyhub.com/eclipses, So you can take all these, these amazing ideas that Richard is giving, and the questions, and then take the themes of the house where these eclipses are falling for you, and marry them together, and really be in contemplation with what this is opening up for you in your life.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: Yeah. Okay.

Richard: I love that guide idea. I think, totally, if you're new to astrology, totally do it. It'll help you-

Amanda: Yes …

Richard: with these ecl- And you don't wanna miss it. Like you said earlier, it's like riding, surfing the wave. Like-

Amanda: Yes …

Richard: this is a, this is a monumental wave that is coming into our life in the next month. Mm. It's very smart to surf this wave and ask myself, how am I being invited to evolve right now in my personal chart?

Amanda: I mean, we can be asking ourselves that question all the time, right?

Richard: Mm-hmm.

Amanda: And then there's these certain periods of time where the energy is even more concentrated, and we have-

Richard: Yeah

Amanda: even more of an opportunity to… There's more energy in the wave. Totally. So we can, we can go faster, and we can i- you know, actually have quantum leaps in our-

Richard: Totally …

Amanda: evolution of consciousness. Yeah.

Richard: A thousand per- I- it's m- like my life monumentally… I had an eclipse on my birthday in 2023. That's when my entire life changed. That's when I had to move back home to take care of my mom. I got super sick and almost had to go into the hospital. Like, so much happened to… I broke my ankle. Oh, no. And so much happened within a three-day period, and it wa- there was an eclipse on my sun to the exact degree.

Amanda: Wow.

Richard: And I remember sitting with it, and I was like, “I'm so excited.” Mm. “This is the next chapter of my life. I'm stepping through the portal. I am so ready for this.”

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: “I'm so ready for what this is going to be, because I feel like I'm going to activate a part of my purpose.” And that was a huge activating moment in my life. And so it is, it is such a powerful moment. And so if you have planets that are aspect- are being aspected by this eclipse, or, um, if you have your own, uh, North and South Node being… I always say this as well, if your own North and South Node are being activated by any transit, it is a monumental chapter for you to really assess your karmic journey and how I'm being invited to grow. And so with this in particular, it's like, how am I being invited to step into my most unique, stripped down self so I feel free, so I feel liberated? Mm. So I feel like I can truly make a difference in my own community, in my own environment, whatever that might look like

Amanda: That's beautiful, Richard. And I feel like that is exactly the, uh, approach. You just modeled the approach to challenging transits-

Richard: Yeah …

Amanda: that will result in you becoming a more authentic, joyful, purposeful expression of yourself-

Richard: Totally

Amanda: on the other side of it. Like, if you can approach those… And it's hard, 'cause when you're in it, they're not comfortable. Obviously, all those things happening all at once, it was probably like, “What the heck?” Yeah. Right? But if you can access that in those moments, or even fleetingly access that kind of an attitude towards it, it will propel

Richard: Totally

Amanda: you to entirely new heights. So it's, it's brilliant. I love that you shared that.

Richard: Yeah. It was… And I, I think for those that could be going through something, give yourself perspective. Give yourself perspective. Look at your life. I always say this, the practice of reframing things is, is a tool that I think is so understated. And why I say reframing things and giving yourself perspective is because after I looked at my life and what I've been through, I can look at certain moments that I'm going through like, if I can go through that, this is nothing. Exactly. This is nothing. I'm golden. I can handle this.

Amanda: Yes.

Richard: And you are so much stronger than what you think because of that, when you're able to give yourself that perspective. Right. And so in evolutionary astrology, we always say whether it's a challenging tr- whatever the transit may be, I really invite you to open your arms and hug that transit coming in, because I promise you, in moments where it is difficult, there are gonna be moments where it is enlivening for you. But it's like it is you, you really chose this moment, and I want you to celebrate it all, because it's going to help you grow. It's going to help you understand your life more deeply.

Amanda: Mm. What degree is that Pluto-South Node conjunction happening at in Leo?

Richard: So this is… So it's… We're gonna start… I wanna start paying attention to this in May of 2027. Um, the exact transit is November 16th,

Amanda: 2027. Okay.

Richard: But you really, again, with Pluto, I would pay close attention as early as May of 2027, and if you have anything in Aquarius, and I would say honestly from, like, 5 to 6 degrees of Aquarius all the way through 12 degrees, 14 degrees of Aquarius, that's a really pivotal, juicy spot of planetary energy that you're about to navigate. If you have anything in the fixed signs, if you have anything in Scorpio as well, or Leo, if you have anything in Taurus, like, really pay close attention, you know, to this Plu- could be the Pluto square or the Pluto opposition. I'd pay very, very close attention. Mm. Um, again, Pluto transits in evolutionary astrology are truly the opportunity for us to become aware of our unconscious patterns, and this gets into a deeper part of evolutionary astrology, which is the idea of, you know, we all have unconscious security patterns that are operating beneath the surface that we're not necessarily aware of, that are truly dictating a large part of our human experience. Mm. There's a beautiful quote from Carl Jung where he says, “Until we become conscious of our unconscious, we will look at our life and call it fate.” And the reality is when we go through a Pluto transit, that's the opportunity for us to become aware of the unconscious gunk that exists. And so to have Pluto on the North Node, it's like this is a window of time, I feel like collectively, but then also individually, for us to become aware of wherever Pluto is navigating in our charts, wherever the North Node is navigating in our charts, to become aware of whatever could be challenging us or blocking us unconsciously, to find that liberation, to find that freedom, to expose whatever those security patterns could be, for the purpose of the soul to continue evolving. So it's, like, such a magical chapter for all of us, and I feel like when it comes to that North Node at, uh, of Neptune, what I… Or sorry, South Node of Neptune, I really wanna pay close attention to the idea of repeating patterns. Are we re- Wait, so

Amanda: the S- I, I'm getting our nodes mixed up. Yeah.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: South Node of Neptune is in what sign? It's

Richard: Aquarius.

Amanda: Is in Aquarius?

Richard: Yes.

Amanda: I think I said it wrong before. Pluto's gonna conjunct the North Node in Aquarius, obviously. Uh,

Richard: yes. Okay.

Amanda: Yes. Okay.

Richard: And, and right, literally right around the same time, the North Node of Aquarius, the lunar North Node, is gonna conjunct Neptune's South Node. This is all happening within a, like a, a six-month period. Wow. We're gonna have… We're all gonna be navigating this. And, and again, collectively, I wanna pay close attention to how are we potentially repeating- patterns. How are we repeating something that is showing up for us? I want us to pay attention to idealism, I want us to pay attention to the trajection, or what is being projected collectively, what is happening around the world. The planetary nodes are not as talked about. The planetary nodes, so Neptune, Pluto-

Amanda: Right …

Richard: Uranus, they're not as discussed.

Amanda: Right.

Richard: And the more that I've dove into evolutionary astrology, the more that I realize that it is a subject that really needs to be brought to light, 'cause I think it really helps us understand the collective, the civilization consciousness on this planet, and how we're evolving. And when the south node is… of, of Neptune is being activated in Aquarius by the n- the lunar north node, I really wanna measure again: How are we collectively, potentially being invited to take a step in a new direction? How are we being invited to maybe do something different, to step into a new path? Whether this is a… This could be new leadership directions, this could be people electing new people, this could be us picking new laws of how we wanna navigate things, or how businesses are gonna handle things, or something like this, something around the direction of how we're moving forward, the vision for the future. Or are we going to repeat the same exact thing, the same exact pattern? Which I feel like what happens is, is that that sets us up for what the next two to three years looks like. Mm. Bringing us to, like, 2030, 2031. And astrology-wise, it's a really heavy chapter for us. So, like I said, I feel like this nodal shift of the north node in Aquarius, because it has so much to do with our ability to step into truth, to step into our future, to step into the vision of what that could look like, I feel like this is our opportunity to make a difference positively for the world. This is our opportunity to, like, make a shift on this planet.

Amanda: And you're talking about 2027. Seven,

Richard: yeah.

Amanda: And that if we answer that call, if we accept that challenge- Yeah … and use the energy to decondition some of the things that are keeping us back from really creating this other reality for ourselves-

Richard: Yeah

Amanda: that in 2030 to 2032- is when- We could,

Richard: yeah

Amanda: Go ahead. Y- you-

Richard: I feel like this could be a timeline shift for us collectively. Ah. I feel like we have an opportunity to truly shi- like, shift the way that civilization has been navigating. Yeah. When you look at the astrology since 2019 and 2020, a lot of people, feel like they've been transitioning between the 3D and the 5D. They've been trying to navigate these different experiences. And I feel like when I look at seeing this specific nodal shift, giving us an opportunity to understand and find more togetherness, more unity with each other. The concept of unity consciousness is very Aquarian, and I feel like if we could do this, I feel like we can actually heal. I feel like there are parts of what exists in society around the world today where you see the pain, you h- you see the hurt, you see the suffering, you see all of this. I feel like there's opportunity for us to mend and heal different collective wounds that are, that are still unfolding on our planet today. Like, that's a big-

Amanda: Hm …

Richard: part of what Aquarius is about. And I think the obstacle that we're navigating is I think we're also being invited to potentially repeat patterns of our past. That's why I think 2027 and that South Node in Neptune is really important in Aquarius.

Amanda: Hm. I love the root of the word node. Ha- Yeah … have you… It's, it's knot.

Richard: Yes.

Amanda: Right? So it's a knot. Yes. And these are these karmic knots. So, and what you're describing, we, of course we have individual knots that- Yeah … we're unraveling in this life, but we also have collective ones. And so this, a lot of these themes are collective knots that we have an opportunity to first become aware of, and then actually begin to unravel, and then create something new from a new place.

Richard: 100%. Yeah. And, and it's funny, 'cause it's very Aquarian too. That's the Aquarian theme, is like the collective… It, it truly is about all of us. And it's almost like to become aware of all of us together, and to be able to look at it from the perspective of I don't need to be the center of attention. I don't need to do it from this perspective. It's about all of us. It's about us as a team. Mm-hmm. And this is a conversation I've been having recently with people where I'm like, I feel like we're not looking at things from a team anymore. We're looking at it from my vantage point and your vantage point, and this is how we're gonna do things. And I feel like what's missing is that we need to look at it like my contribution affects your contribution. Mm. So why not be in sync with each other?

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And let's see how, if we both are in sync, how we can affect and make a bigger shift, a bigger change together.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And again, it goes back to this idea of separating each other. It goes back to this idea of not seeing us as a team, or not seeing us in unity.

Amanda: Right. Yes, because we've been taught to compete with each other-

Richard: Mm-hmm …

Amanda: and not collaborate with each other. What is the all boats rise on… What is the, the quote I'm thinking of? All- Uh, all boats rise on a rising tide. I, I'm, I'm messing it up. But basically- No, you're- … what I'm trying to say is that the better humans do, the better we all do. The better you do, the better I do, the better… I mean, it, we, it does. It does work that way. 100%. It's just there's an illusion that you, uh, you, you have to lose for me to win. 100%. And vice versa, which just, it… They've, they've found in studies that collaboration is absolutely a better survival instinct than competition.

Richard: 100%. And it, that, that's a big part of it. Again, that's a big part of, I think- what we're navigating, where, uh, then you throw Saturn and Neptune in the sign of Aries, and I feel like that's also helping us restructure how we understand this, how we understand our own individual self, how we understand competition, for an example. Everyone knows the Aries archetype loves a good fight. Everyone knows Aries loves a good competition. But is that really the pathway forward? Are we really? And that all has to do with survival, and the, and that's, like, a big part of this, and, and I don't think it's about survival and the concept, and I think that's a human instinct in all of us is, how can I survive? How can I do this? But I, I think a big part of it is I think we've positioned ourselves to be alone. I think we've positioned ourselves to separate, and I think that's been a, a larger agenda that has been unfolding, and I feel like we, this is the beginning of the shift for us to actually start seeing each other not as separate from but together with.

Amanda: Hmm.

Richard: Of how can we do this together? What would that look like? How can we… Like, how… I know that you see it this way, and I see it this way, but what would it look like? I always say, how could I lead with curiosity versus judgment? Like, what would that look like? And I think that's a big part of what Uranus and Gemini's also trying to do for us, which is the ruler of the lunar north node in Aquarius. How could we embrace more curiosity, and how would that influence how we perceive reality as we know it?

Amanda: Hmm.

Richard: Like, that's what… It's such a big cycle for me because I feel like ultimately reality as we know it could change. It could shift. But I think it's, it really has to do with h- one, how we show up in all of it, and does the collective have the momentum? Is the consciousness there collectively to embrace this sort of leap in reality to evolve? One of my favorite books, I don't know if you've ever read it, is from David Hawkins. Um, he wrote the book The Map of Consciousness.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: Um, he wrote the… H- his first book, I believe, was called Power Versus Force.

Amanda: Yeah, I read that one, but I don't think I read this, that one, the other one.

Richard: The, the ma- And so the whole idea about understanding the different levels of consciousness and understanding, um, how different human beings will show up on this ladder or this map that he's created, I feel like this is an invitation for us, utilizing this process, to step more into love.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: To step more into a space where we can leave behind fear, where we can leave behind jealousy, where we can leave behind envy.

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And step into a place where we don't compare or contrast each other. We actually can have this sort of acceptance and honoring each other's individuality and be like, “Oh, my God, that's so cool.” Like, why would I judge you for that? ‘Cause you're not judging me. Why don't… There's… We just accept each other. I think that acceptance comes from Pisces honoring ch- each other's individuality is the Aquarian part of it all.

Amanda: And do you… I mean, do you feel like the best way to do this is just to do it within ourselves as much as possible?

Richard: I do. You know, so one of my favorite practices comes from Yogananda, which is the process of self-realization, and one of the, the whole idea of this is the best contribution that we can have is to become more self-realized, and to actually sit with yourself and ask yourself, what does that mean to become so self-aware? This requires the self-inquiry. This requires sitting with yourself. This really requires getting into the uncomfortability of all of that, 'cause it is uncomfortable, because there's a lot that's going on inside of us that we're running away from.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: And what happens is that once we actually can see ourself, 'cause once you do that- you start to see that within another human being. You start to see yourself in another, and that's something that I think is such a transformative moment spiritually for you. You know, I, I had an opportunity to do a retreat with, uh, a Swami from India. His name is, uh, Swami Mukundananda, and I asked him this question along these, these parameters. And one of the things that we got into is this idea of how could you see the universe within another person? How could you see you within another person? That's one of the greatest exercises to practice. How could I see myself in another, and why would I treat myself so poorly? Why would I be so mean to them? Like, why would I honk my horn at them and, you know, yell at them 'cause I have road rage? Why would I treat them so negatively or stress them out with, if that is just a part of me?

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And it's such a practice that I think once we start to do that and begin to have more love and compassion for those that are around us, I feel like we can make a difference s- first in our localized environment, and then that can branch out. Mm. And I, I do think that's where it begins with, and I think, you know, one of the reasons why when I first went to the… I don't know if you've ever been to the, the Gaia headquarters in Boulder.

Amanda: No.

Richard: But when I went there for the first time, I, I weeped. Like, I cried because I sat with the fact that when I saw, first of all, their collection of crystals, and I saw their mission statement of the idea of wanting to help evolve consciousness and really recognizing consciousness within one another, I sat there, and I was just like, “Why are we not all doing this?” Like, why are we not all utilizing this beautiful information like astrology which can help point us towards deeper self-realization, understanding our karmer- karmic complexes, understanding the challenges that we've na- we've, we've been navigating for healing and then how we can help others? Why are we not doing this?

Amanda: Mm.

Richard: And it's something that I think we all need, and I think, um, for me, it… You know, we… Like you said earlier, when you go through difficult challenges in your life, it truly is like a wake-up call. It really is like a reality check. Um, and you start to have a different vantage point of your life.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: And I am so grateful for that. Like I say that every day when I talk to my mom, and I was like, “I'm so grateful for you because you brought me the opportunity to do Starcast Weekly on Gaia. You brought me the opportunity to do Astrology Hub for the first time.” Like- If it wasn't for these difficult, and th- these difficulties and these challenges that I've had to navigate, you know, would I have chosen that path to, like, go even deeper into studying, you know, esoterica, and going deeper into all these different things? Richard: Um, so yeah. It's all you. It's all about you on the inside.

Amanda: Yes. Yes. Yes.

Richard: Yeah.

Amanda: Amazing. Richard, is there any… Uh, first of all, you guys, go check out Richard at Starcast Weekly on Gaia. So the, just gaia.com, and they can find your show there?

Richard: Yeah, you can go to gaia.com, and you can check out Starcast Weekly. It comes out every Sunday. Um, and if you're interested in like, uh, like right now, disclosure's like super popular right now. A lot of people-

Richard: astrology behind all this information coming out.

Amanda: Mm-hmm.

Richard: There's a lot of information they've been talking about over there about disclosure, and aliens, and all of this. Um, so there's just so mu- I, I can't stress it enough, if you're about elevating consciousness and you just wanna understand things deeply, like realities or paradigms or anything like that, like there's just so much information over there for us to learn and grow.

Amanda: Yes. Yes. All right, Richard. Thank you so much for being here for your Astrology Hub debut. It has been such a pleasure to connect with you. Thank you for all of the wisdom that you just shared with our community, and I just wish you Just your wings to get bigger and bigger and bigger, and fly higher.
