“Don’t give up on yourself, Amanda,” she said sitting across from me over the “small plates” we were sharing for dinner.
As she delivered these words, the bustling activity and cheerful happy hour sounds of the restaurant faded away and time slowed down…
It was as if we were the only people in the crowded restaurant, a spotlight had come down from heaven, and her words boomed as if delivered straight from the mouth of God.
Her beautiful brown eyes bore into my soul as she continued, “There will always be children who need you, projects at work, partners and loved ones going through health challenges, your OWN health challenges, it never ends! But please…
DO NOT give up on yourself.”
These words, delivered by our beloved astrologer Georgia Stathis, echoed in my mind all summer long.
You see, my girls and I started a tradition years ago in which we “name” the summer. Sometimes the name comes before the summer and sometimes after.
For example, “The Summer of Puppies,” (when we had our surprise litter), “the Summer of Joy Rides,” (when they went to an amusement park for the first time)…
For them, this was to be the “Summer of Fitness.” And for me, “The Summer I Wrote A Book.”
I knew with the girls out of school for 8 weeks that I could use my morning carpool driving time to write the book I’ve been wanting to write for over 7 years…
Plus, Jupiter is in Gemini in my 5th house and I wanted to ride that perfect writing wave all the way to shore!
But as usual, we make our plans and it’s never as straightforward as we wish it to be.
As I began writing my manuscript, I hit obstacle after obstacle.
So many challenges that the “Summer I Wrote a Book” was quickly being renamed the “Summer of Setbacks.”
At dinner that night I’d told Georgia about the book I was attempting to write AND the challenges I was experiencing. This is what prompted her powerful message to me…
That I’m now passing along to you.
Today is the Virgo New Moon. Virgo is a mutable energy that marks the transition between one season and the next. It’s a great time to consider the consistent, daily habits that make your life what it is – often the things that seem small but when added up over time, make all of the difference.
Plus the Equinox is right around the corner, making this the perfect time to begin reflecting on what has been, what will be…
And to consider the “fulcrum point” that the balancing act of your life sits upon.
After hearing those words from Georgia, I decided writing the book was my fulcrum point for the summer. I had made a promise to myself and it felt urgently important to keep that promise…
It was as if my life depended on it!
On that same visit with Georgia in California, I walked by a woman wearing a shirt that said, “Every Summer Has a Story…”
I love this! But the truth is, every SEASON has a story.
So as we wind up this season of life and begin considering the next…
- What has the story of this season been for you? Can you name it?
- What’s the fulcrum point upon which you are balancing your life? A project you’ve committed to? A focus on your health? Your finances? An important relationship?
- And what’s in your heart right now, that you KNOW you need to do, that may be in need of this command…
Don’t give up on yourself.
There will always be a hundred reasons why you can’t do it. Why the time isn’t right. Why others need you more than your dream needs you.
And even if it’s just dedicating a tiny bit of time each day, or carving out a sliver of space each week (Virgo style!)…
What can you do to continue moving in that direction? Come what may?
I’m happy to share that I DID in fact hit my 50,000 word manuscript goal just this last week. I also did my best to show up for the people who needed me, the projects and other demands of life.
So in the end, this will always be remembered as, “The Summer I Wrote a Book.”
More to come on this soon… 😉
But in the meantime, I’m over here cheering you on. So grateful to Georgia for sharing with me the message I now get to share with you…
And here's the truth. If you’re still reading my long message today, it’s not actually Georgia OR me sharing these words…
It’s YOU! Your heart. Your vision. Your desire. Your higher self.
Your unique coding magnetizing the words you need to hear at the right time and place.
I’m grateful to be a part of it in any way, and grateful for the gift that you are.
Celebrating you and the story of your life,
Amanda
